Kim Conway is a teenager who desperately wants her widowed mother to start dating. But Kim's efforts to get her Mom remarried--buying her a blond wig, arranging a blind date with Larry the Laugh Riot, and signing her up for a phone dating service--aren't working.
This is Apple Paperbacks 1990 style. Our main character is a silly girl who decides it's time for mom to date after being widowed for a few years. She's tired of being a fatherless child. She tries to set up her mom with her Chinese teacher until she finds out he's married, tries to enroll her in veterinary school and sets her up with a skeevy dude. You can tell the publishers told authors they had to work in minority characters and the author is very stiff and obvious about it. Not as good as 80s books, but still a touch of nostalgia.
