But there's no other explanation for what happened to Angela Cole.
After news spreads like wildfire about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the events of that stormy winter night, Madigan Knox recognizes the face of the missing woman on TV as someone from her past. Someone she might be able to help.
Ames Soriano's persistent hunt for a serial killer leads her to South Bend, where the recent disappearance of Angela Cole parallels that of The Winter Killer's victims.
In a town where outsiders are unwelcome and with no one person eager to find the missing woman, Ames and Madigan begin a hunt for the truth and for a potential murderer with the opportunity to strike again.
Fast-paced and suspenseful, this novella brings readers to a small town full of secrets to find a missing woman no one seems to miss. It is only available for free through Jade Eby or Emerald O'Brien's newsletter.
Emerald O’Brien is a Canadian writer who grew up just east of Toronto, Ontario. She studied Television Broadcasting and Communications Media, and graduated from the program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario.
When Emerald is not reading or writing unpredictable stories packed with suspense, she loves baking, bonfires, binging Netflix shows, and spending time with family.
A horror movie enthusiast, Emerald can be found watching them at the movie theatre with her best friend or while cuddled up on the couch with her favourite snacks.
Wrong Angle is a mysterious and suspenseful novella that will keep you wondering. I was riveted to the pages, as I worked along side Madigan and Ames, trying to figure out what happened to Annie. This was a really enagaging tale with a twist that I didn't see coming. I enjoyed Ames and Madigan, and how well they played off of each other. I hope we see them paired up again in the future.
Wrong Angle is the first book co-written by Emerald O'Brien and Jade Eby and then did a fantastic job of co-writing it. I love how they used characters from prior books as the two main characters in this book. I also really liked how they were able to write a mystery that pulled you in from the very beginning and held your attention until the very end. If you enjoy mystery novels, be sure to read this one because you won't be disappointed. It's also classified as a novella, but it didn't seem like it at all, so don't be afraid of that classification (I'm not always a fan of novellas as I feel they fall short, this one does not and is almost novel length in my opinion).
WRONG ANGLE IS A NOVELLA CO-WRITTEN BY THE AWESOME JADE EBY AND EMERALD O'BRIEN. JADE EBY AND EMERALD O'BRIEN DID AN EXCELLENT JOB IN CO-WRITING THIS WONDERFUL STORY. I LOVED HOW THEY USED CHARACTERS FROM THEIR OTHER BOOKS. MADIGAN AND AMES WORKED REALLY GREAT TOGETHER TO SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF WHO KILLED ANGELA COLE. BOTH ARE VERY PASSIONATE CHARACTERS WHO WILL STOP AT NOTHING UNTIL THEY SOLVE THE MYSTERY. WILL MADIGA AND AMES SUCCEED BEFORE THEY BECOME THE TARGET?
WRONG ANGLE IS A FAST PACE READ THAT DRAWS YOU INTO THE STORY FROM THE VERY FIRST PAGE UNTIL THE END. IT IS DEFINITELY A PAGE TURNER THAT WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE. THERE IS SO MUCH MYSTERY AND SUSPENSE SURROUNDING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ANGELA COLE. THE TOWN HOLDS ALOT OF SECRETS AND WHEN YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHO HAS DONE IT BOTH AUTHORS TAKE YOU ON ANOTHER PATH. WRONG ANGLE IS DEFINITELY A MUST READ FOR THOSE WHO LOVE MYSTERY, SUSPENSE AND MURDER. I AM A BIG FAN OF EMERALD O'BRIEN AND NOW JADE EBY. I WILL BE CHECKING HER BOOKS OUT AS WELL. WHAT A WONDERFUL READ AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MADIGAN AND AMES WORKING TOGETHER. I HOPE TO SEE MORE OF THEM TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE AND MORE OF JADE EBY AND EMERALD O'BRIEN CO-WRITING BOOKS. WHAT AN AWESOME PAIR.
A collaboration between Jade Eby and Emerald O'brien which holds you interest and keeps you guessing. I am not used to the type of format they used here, where each chapter takes one of the two main characters viewpoint and takes you on their hunt for the missing Angela. Madigan and Ames work together to find the missing Angela. Madigan because she remembers Angela as one of the foster children she lived with and Ames because she thought the case was close to the serial killer she's been trying to track. The two take you on a roller coaster ride through the legal search and the not so legal antics to try and solve the case. Once you get used to who the characters are and what their relationship is to the case, you are taken on a ride! This was a fun book to read. I received a copy from the author but the opinions here are strictly my own.
Loved this book. Strong storyline with a whodunit that surprised at the end. Interesting characters that alternately annoy and tug at your heart. Perhaps I just have an affinity for Madegan having adopted six of my foster kids.
When Madegan sees a news story involving the disappearance of a girl she knew when in foster care she feels compelled to find out what happened and with any luck find her alive. She meets up with Ames a reporter also looking for answers but about a serial killer. Can they beat the clock and find Julie alive, or is it already too late?
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
LOVED it! This can be read alone or as part of the Knox & Sheppard series. This happened between The Girls Across The Bay and The Secrets They Keep. I read it after book 2 but it filled in a few things. It doesn't NEED to be read to know what's going on but it's just extra. I personally loved it. Madigan and Ames are two and the same. I hope maybe someday we will get more of Ames again :)
Jade and Emerald did a good job co-writing this book. The characters were well defined and the story line was fast paced and action packed. A real page turning that will grab your attention at the beginning and keep it. Madigan and Ames keep us under suspense as they search for Angela's killers. Lots of mystery and secrets in this small town. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Very much enjoyed this novella and looking forward to more! My first book by these authors but it didn't take long for me to get attached to Ames and Madigan. Story seemed pretty fast paced to start and once in the thick of it, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Especially loved the bond and strength between these two women and their shared growing bond was easily felt. Great twist and am very much looking forward to seeing more from both authors and catching up on Madigan and Ames' stories!
I've read books by Emerald O'brien, so choose to read this one. A woman goes missing, and nobody seems to think it's worth pursuing except Madigan and Ames. And they are off and chasing the scant clues, putting themselves in harm's way. Well defined characters and plot. A very enjoyable read, had me hooked!
I loved it. A fast paced mystery about a woman from Madigan Knox's past who disappears. Madigan thinks she can help find her, but she finds a small town with plenty of secrets.. This book has lots of suspense and will keep you guessing. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy murder mysteries.
Well done, Emerald and Jade! I really enjoyed your collaboration! The story was always moving and always making me want more. These two ladies, Madigan and Ames, are AWESOME together! Never a dull moment. I am hoping you two will work together again soon.
recieved free for review: An accident on a lonely stretch of snowy road and no victim starts off this adventure. as the story unfolds and the truth is slowly unveiled, it is not what the reader thinks.... Sorry, no spoiler here, u have to read it u want to know what's happens, lol!💜
This is an entertaining short story about a missing woman and a small town. The town people are not very helpful when it comes to strangers, and they don't really care to help find this missing woman. What is this town hiding? You will have to read the book to find out.
This book is amazing. Madigan sees a news story about a missing person that she knew from a group home. She feels she needs to investigate. The twists that come up keeps you wanting to finish this story. Absolutely loved it!
This was a great story. I couldn't put it down. The storyline pulls you in and makes you feel like you are there with the characters. I would recommend this to anyone that loves mysteries.
Wow! I was completely uncomfortable, on edge and scared from beginning to end of ‘Wrong Angle’. Readers that enjoy unpredictable suspenseful stories, this book has it! and you have to read it!
An engaging mystery (novella) co-authored by Emerald O'Brien and Jade Eby. The 2 main characters are apart of their own respected books.
This story follows the puzzling disappearance of a young woman, whose absence goes unnoticed by everyone except a childhood friend. As the friend tirelessly searches for answers, a tenacious freelance journalist digs into the case, determined to uncover whether a notorious serial killer is responsible or if something else entirely is at play. This book is written in 2 POVs.
Emerald and Jade brilliantly build suspense throughout the book, keeping readers longing for more.
The authors provide just enough information to keep readers guessing, gradually unraveling the truth behind the missing woman.
This co-authored novel delivers a thrilling ride from start to finish.
**Note this novella is only FREE through Emerald or Jade's newsletter.
This was so good. The 2 characters together from different authors was such a great idea. Now I’m gonna have to check both them out in their own books aren’t I! Angie goes missing and we have an old friend & an investigative journalist who both want answers. They end up in a rough town and boy do things kick off. Great intro to more.
A suspenseful and exciting read. The story is eventful, frightening and very sad. It is well written, although the shifting chapter to chapter of the point of view was confusing at first. As I read further I got used to the juxtaposition.
This is the first book I've read by this author and it has me completely hooked! almost non-stop action from the beginning. I couldn't put it down and blew through it in a day. A great suspenseful read!
