Johann Nepomuk Christoph Friedrich von Schmid was a writer of children's stories, educator, and Roman Catholic priest. His stories were very popular and translated into many languages. His best-known work in the English-speaking world is The Basket of Flowers (Das Blumenkörbchen).

a very interesting and beautiful book from which you can learn a lot and see God's plan.

My girls age 7-11 loved this story. It was suspenseful and had just the right amount of spookiness for them. A baby is kidnapped from his home and his mother never stops praying for him. The story is what becomes of the child and how he is eventually returned. The vocabulary is great.
