I haven't researched it, but I think we've got a debut author here my peeps. Could be a pseudonym or something, but if not, this is an author to keep an eagle eye on because if this is their first published work, it's really good.

It was paced well given the amount of action. There was some great tension of all varieties between the two MCs. The villain was believable given the setting straddled the contemporary/paranormal line. The characters were fairly well-developed, and the plot f

Fun, sexy, and with an entertaining premise appealing to fans of Supernatural, like me. I did feel that there were editing issues that detracted somewhat. While the high-speed romance isn’t entirely implausible given the crazy circumstances, instalove is still not my favorite trope. I also found myself having to skim previous paragraphs on occasion because I had blinked and missed a barely-there clue that told me that the characters had gotten into a vehicle or arrived at a destination.

A Scattered Thoughts and Roguew Words review

The blurb of “Witchbane” reminded me a bit of “Supernatural” and I had rather high hopes.

The idea behind the story has potential. I like urban legends, ghosts, witches and other supernatural elements like that. So I did definitely enjoy the plot itself. There was the occasional moment that made me break out in goosebumps.

The sex scenes were plentiful and hot. I liked that the author made a versatile couple, even if there wasn’t much variety ot

Wow, what a great premise for a series! Suspense, thriller, a bit of horror, lots of action and angst. I felt shades of Supernatural with Seth. For me this rocked. Seth is a trained monster killer who hunts creatures in the shadows. And his current mission is to save the next targeted victim from an evil immortal serial killer. Loved it. I really do hope it there’s more books to come with Seth and Evan.

I had a lot of fun with this read - a bit of Supernatural dotted with some whodunit blended with some steamy romance - What's not to like?
The pace of the story is steady and kept me engaged and eager to see what happened next - there are some scenes that I would have enjoyed a bit more dialogue and page time on though I think if the couple stays together then we, as readers, will get the little bits and pieces in future installments
Lots of mystery and

I totally enjoyed Witchbane and author Morgan Brice really pulls the romance, paranormal elements, and urban fantasy plot all together quite well. The story captured my attention from the Prologue where we see Seth and Jesse face the horrific attack and it kept me eagerly following along straight through the book. The story about who is behind Jesse’s murder and why was fascinating and really sets up the book well. Seth has now become a hunter of sorts, learned ma

I received a copy of this book by the author for an honest opinion.
Well what a read it was! This is a new to me author but the book description is just right up my alley with paranormal and a bit of a mystery. Seth with his brother one night go out on a bit of a scare laugh prank but what was just suppose to be a lark results in the death of Jesse leaving Seth heartbroken and seeking vengeance. But how do you seek vengeance from something not actually suppose to exist. With all this going on Set

I received this book as part of an ARC review. Seth and his brother, Jesse, go to investigate a local urban legend and things go horribly wrong. Jesse is murdered and then Seth loses their parents in a car accident and the family home to fire. Seth discovers what was behind all the losses and is determined to stop it. He fails to save the next sacrifice but manages to find Evan before he is killed. Seth saves Evan a couple of times but Evan has a hard time believing in magic and what Seth tells ...more
A decent story but I didn't fully become engaged. Maybe because it reminded me of Supernatural and I couldn't get that out of my head? It's not a bad thing, and it's not a copy. It's just where my brain goes when there's 2 brothers and the occult. Now in this one of the brothers isn't a main character (That's not a spoiler it's in the blurb) so it is different right away. I clued into who the Big Bad was pretty early, and his accomplice as well so that lead me to getting frustrated at the end wi ...more

Awesome first book I have read by this author! I love urban fantasy and paranormal, so this is right up my alley. First, I love the story and the world-building. It reminded me at times of a certain TV show with hunters, which just made me enjoy it even more. The story is pretty full of action, fast-paced, and even creepy at times, and kept my attention from start to finish. Seth and Evan are compelling characters with off-the-charts chemistry - so hot! I hope there is more to come in this serie ...more

Wow! This is my first book by this author and it won’t be the last! The book starts off by breaking your heart with a murder. From there, we have an action packed adventure into something dark and gruesome. I loved the chemistry between the characters, and I’m not talking about the physical kind. Seth and Evan just clicked, and combined with the fast paced action it was difficult to put the book down for real life. Very engrossing, I definitely recommend this read.

I enjoyed this story and Seth and Evan were a good couple. I would have liked to have had a clearer understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the magic system in this world were. It seemed to be both intstant and only effective after being calm and centered at various times in the story depending on what was useful for the circumstance.

I found the declarations of love to be precipitous and not particularly believable. I also found myself skimming though most of the sex scenes since th

Ending his military service and coming back home, Seth Tanner expected to start his life all over again but, without a doubt, not like that. Innocent chase after an urban legend on the night of Halloween ended up tragically and completely shook Seth’s world. His younger brother was brutally murdered by forces, the existence of which until now seemed to be pure fiction. Because the things that Seth experienced for ordinary

I snatched up this book because from what I could see, it was getting really good reviews and I do love me a paranormal/suspense plot that I can get totally engrossed in. Witchbane provides a great foundation, with interesting world building and an exciting journey for the MCs that did keep me mostly invested. The prologue grabbed me right off the bat and started a quick-paced suspense from that point forward. The imagery and feelings produced in the first few pages guaranteed my w

After I read and loved Badlands by this author, I realised I had this book sitting on my tablet that I hadn’t read yet, so I immediately moved it to my read ASAP pile. I loved it as much as Badlands, and now have two series I need to read as they come out. As an aside I’ve also bought the first in another series by her alter-ego Gail Z. Martin to read too. I love the way all these series are part of a larger universe, and reference each other. Having Seth reference Simon as his teacher for learn ...more

Witchbane is the first M/M book by this author, and I have to say I was impressed with what a great job she did with this story. I was already expecting the great writing, and thought the suspense levels were just right (love it when I’m on the edge of my seat!). The creepiness factor got me—there were some points I had to switch the light on in the room before I’d read any further. And the romance between Seth and Jackson was hot and intense with the perfect amount of conflict to help raise the ...more

Witchbane is book one in the series and it's also my first book by Morgan Brice (aka Gail Z. Martin) and let me tell you, it was an unexpected delight.

Seth suffered through a horrific event when his brother and him were attacked by the disciple of a warlock that lived two-hundred years ago, resulting in his brother's death. After his parents died in an accident, Seth devotes his life to search for any information regarding the warlock and his disciples, and vows to stop them from killin

This was a very good book from a new to me author. Like it’s been mentioned by others, this has a Supernatural vibe to it except for the fact that they are lovers and not bothers :). The mystery is a good one. An evil warlock a very long time ago gets killed and as he is dying, he gives his disciples immortality. The catch is, that every 12 years they have to kill the eldest born of the descended of one of the people responsible for his death. Way cool. Not the killing but the....curse for lack ...more

“Witchbane” by Morgan Brice is the first book in the ‘Darkwind’ series. Seth Tanner has a traumatic and tragic introduction to the paranormal world, prompting him to use his military skills to pursue ending a monstrous reign that has targeted a slew of unwitting victims. His fortuitous connection with Jackson Malone complicates his mission to protect the man who is oblivious of the danger and his significance in the struggle against evil, but they must become a team if either is going to survive

Captivating right from the start, Seth's introduction to the world everyone else is blind and oblivious to is harrowing and gory. The horrible, painful, and formative moment sets the tone in a way that was difficult to forget. When Seth meets Evan we have a deep understanding of what drives him to do what he does and feel what he feels. Their interactions are subtle, tame, and hopeful until they decide to act on the barely banked passion they both feel; it's the sense of promise in their hesitan ...more

A thrilling and engrossing paranormal novel.

Morgan Brice has written a wonderful paranormal romance about Seth Tanner and Jackson Malone, two very damaged men who are thrown together in a love / uncertainty relationship - strong attraction but emotional scars make them unable to commit to each other.

Seth Tanner's world is turned upside down when he discovers evil practitioners of magic really exist. His brother is brutally tortured to death just outside his reach by a witch and his minions. Afte

*I received an ARC and voluntarily reviewed this book*

This was a good book. It was about 60% sexy times and about 40% plot which was less than ideal for me. I would have preferred 60% plot and 40% romance. The plot that was present was great! The book starts out like BAM! Spooky and terrifying right from the start! I loved the who done it type mystery.

I liked the witches and magic plot. I also enjoyed that it was set in today

This was a good read - the romance and paranormal aspects were balanced out really well.

The beginning was intense, scary and heartbreaking. Seth’s life changed when his loved ones were taken from him. He seeks answers and justice but the path he follows is full of danger. His mission is to find and protect Jackson Malone but what else will he find along the way?

Seth, having finished a stint in the military, goes on a ghost hunting trip to Hell’s Gate in Diamond, Indiana with his brother Jesse. Part lark, part rebonding time between the brothers, neither could see the horror that would come that night.

Two years after that catastrophic trip to Hell’s Gate and now a full time, nomadic supernatural hunter, Seth is determined to stop any more people from going through what happened to his brother and him. Set on stopping the creature that hurt his brother,

Whoa! I wasn't sure what to expect considering this was a new to me author and it was paranormal (which isn't my typical go-to), but DANG I am impressed. Right from the first chapter I was hooked. We truly got to see and feel the brotherly connection between Seth and Jesse, and by giving us that glimpse, I really understood and felt why Seth was so driven for revenge. First thing first… this book actually scared me in certain spots. (I know I am a wuss, don’t have to tell me twice!) It reminded me of an Alternate Universe Supernatural with Buffy and Blair Witch elements thrown in.

I liked Seth and Sonny’s (Jackson) characters well enough even when I didn’t approve of Seth not really telling Jackson the truth about the threat against him. Sonny gave me whiplash when he was introduced, scared one second and flirty and suggestive the next but he really gre
