One of my favorite amateur sleuths is back. Jill Gardner, owner of Coffee, Books and More, finds herself in the middle of another mystery. She is hosting a local adopt-a-pet function and her heart is breaking for Baby, a male terrier whose owner recently died.

Baby’s owner was a homeless man. Jill is sure there is more to his story than they know about. She vows to find out what happened to the man and to make sure Baby has a new “forever home”. Little did she know, she’d be delving into the pas

This wonderful Christmastime novella will put you in good spirits for the holidays! Jill and the South Cove gang are volunteering at an animal shelter helping groom dogs and cats for an upcoming adoption event. An older terrier mix, Baby, catches Jill’s eyes, and his background is tied to a recent death, and the heartfelt story of his owner’s past. A happy ending is the gift Cozy Mystery Readers receive at the story’s end. Cookie recipe included.

This is a cute, heart-warming Christmas novella with characters I have grown to know and love. It is Christmas time in South Cove California and Jill Gardner is planning to host an adopt-a-pet event at the bookstore. As she is meeting the animals that are being featured, she learns about the death of a homeless man and his small dog left behind. When Jill finds a key hidden in the dog's collar, they find a journal and money left to his childhood sweetheart. This piques Jill's interest and she se ...more

Oh my gosh did I ever enjoy Santa Puppy. It was not at all what I expected! So much better! This Christmas themed novella is the perfect holiday read. Short, sweet and really well written. The story will tug a bit at your heartstrings but in a really good way. I love this series and it was easy to picture the entire setting, the characters and even taste the cookies! I am totally using the recipe at the end of this story too!

Santa Puppy is just the right holiday story I like.
When a homeless man is found in the beach, dead of a heart attack, Jill Gardner wonders who he is.
Santa Puppy touches on the kindness of people, heart ache and of course, Christmas.
This is a delightful, fast paced story that is read in under two hours.
I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

This is my first ever read from Lynn Cahoon. I wanted to try this series because I liked the sound of the concept but another thing that drew me to this novella was the fact that it was also holiday themed.

SANTA PUPPY is book 9.75 in the Tourist Trap mystery series and you definitely don’t need to read the others to enjoy this one. I really like Cahoon’s writing style. It’s quite simple and easy to read, so I think that helped me in jumping into this series in the middle of it.

This is one of my favorite series to read and this novella from the series just confirms that. It is a bit strange that the recent novella's are actually out of order as this story obviously takes place before several major changes in character relationships and events that lead to characters leaving the series in books that I have already read. However, that being said, I absolutely loved this book. The storyline was fun and intriguing. The animals in the story were lovable and a major focus of ...more

Christmas and puppies and a mystery - how could I pass up Santa Puppy? I haven't read any of the others in the series, but I thought this worked fine as a cute standalone. Jill Gardner owns a bookshop (also an awesome thing) and has volunteered to host a Christmas party with the goal of getting pets adopted from the local shelter. One of the dogs, Baby, touches Jill's heart. Its owner, a homeless man, was found dead of a heart attack on the beach and Baby needs a new home. Jill, with the help an ...more

With a slight chill in the air, of course I am ready for holiday books.

Even though this book started a bit uneven with too many short choppy sentences, the novella or was it a short story, eventually slowed to a good pace and got to the point without too much added fluff. Granted, it took me longer than it should to draw the characters together, but once there, the tears flowed.

Jill Gardener has a fondness for both man and beast so when the two come together with the death of a homeless man and

I have always loved mysteries. I've read classic British authors; Christie and Sayers, Doyle and Allingham. I moved to Americans like J.D. McDonald, Hammett and my very favorite, Chandler. I dove happily into the tough women like Paretsky, Grafton, and Muller. Over the last few years I've become rather addicted to cozies. Straight, paranormal, humorous, I love them all. They are rather like fan fiction though, in that the quality of the writing can vary widely. Some authors seem to rush their bo ...more

Very sweet holiday themed novella with a Tourist Trap Mystery spin on it. I liked it quite a bit. I am a big sucker for a story where animals are being helped.

My only real issue with Santa Puppy is trying to figure out exactly where it falls in the story order. It is listed as 9.75, but timewise it doesn't really come after the 9th book. I'm guessing it should fit into a spot somewhere around book 4, but its been awhile since I read the early books in the series so I'm not positive. And

Puts You in the Holiday Spirit

This was a sweet, wonderful Christmas story. No murder, but still a mystery to solve.
The mystery was good, but not too difficult to figure out.
The best part was the emphasis on adopting shelter pets. Especially Senior pets. As someone who's had rescue pets all her 59 years, all adults, and many Seniors, I really love the message that the book has.
This was my 1st Tourist Trap mystery, but the author did a good job of making me feel I knew the characters. Which is no
