I came across a beautiful leatherbound hardcover at the library and couldn't resist picking it up. This is a lovely illustrated book about the unbreakable bond between mother and child, and the threads that connect all of us. A nice, quick and meaningful read overall.
A woman's "thread" leads her to an infant girl who she treasures and raises until she is ready to discover her own thread. This abstract exploration of parental love examines the connections a mother has with her child .This book is adapted from an animation film of the same name that was one of the 10 best films at the 2017 Toronto International Film festival. It's 32 pages, has full color illustrations, and makes a good gift for Mother's Day.
This is one of those picture books that you would need to explain to young ones. It contains the beautiful story of how a mother and daughter are bonded together and held together. As the child grows the bond grows stronger, and longer as in the thread. When finally they must part a piece of each other remains. I can see this as a great graduation gift.
A sweet Christmas gift from kiddo's childcare peeps. It didn't wow me because it is so similar to other books about invisible strings and connections. But kiddo seemed genuinely touched by the mommy-daughter bond and happily declared her prediction for what would happen next when we finished reading.
