Clare Macintosh didn’t know what was going on. Her brother, Conrad, had been called in for a meeting and they’d already been waiting over an hour. They were leaving, they had waited long enough.

Owen Winchester had called for the meeting with Conrad. He had no idea the young man was handicapped, but what he had to show him would make his life easier, or at least he hoped so. The trunks Owen had found in the barn of his new home belonged to him. Conrad was the only living relative he could find of the previous owner. Owen was a bit surprised to find Conrad had a sister and she was his mate to boot.

All Clare wanted to do was take her brother and hide. Her parents, Con and Ava Macintosh, weren’t nice people, and neither were the people they stole from. Even though Clare had distanced herself from them, it wouldn’t stop their associates from seeking revenge. She didn’t need the handsome stranger pushing his way into her life.

Great book as always. I do think the erotic can be taken away. There is only one steamy scene. I don't understand why she is taking out so much of the steam. That's my favorite part.

Owen has recently purchased a house and finds some personal items he believes the owner's descendants may want. So, being the good guy he is, makes the necessary steps to locate them and make contact.

Clare and her older brother, Conrad, are both upset at how long they've been kept waiting, albeit for different reasons, and they don't even know what the meeting is about. When they're finally acknowledged, things do not go well and Clare and Conrad are ready to walk away from all of it. However, it won't be that easy.

Owen not only feels bad for their wait, but also recognizes the special circumstances concerning Conrad, and there's the fact that Clare is his mate. As Owen and Clare begin spending time together, Clare and Conrad's past makes a reappearance in a way neither could've imagined.

Now, Owen and his family must ensure Clare and Conrad are safe while discovering Clare's family history and adjusting to being mated.

Can Owen end the threat to Clare and Conrad forever? Will Clare find employment that makes her happy and where she's treated right? Is there a HEA in their future?

One-click now and follow along as two people must find peace with their pasts and embrace a future together.

'Owen' is the third book in Kathi S. Barton's "Winchester Brothers" series and this one touched my heart. If you've read the blurb, you know that Clare and Conrad, who are handicapped, are brother and sister. They were born to the most abusive, manipulative, underhanded people who had Conrad put in a home when he was small, and when their parents died, Clare bailed him out and she has been helping him to be self-sufficient. Owen bought a house and found a great many things in it. With his plan to share what he found with the previous owners' heirs, the search was on. That's how he found Conrad. He had no idea there was a sister, but the adventure started when they met and he realized they were mates. This one touched my heart, especially when Conrad saw Harley fall and came to his rescue. Instant connection. Instant friends. My heart melted. There's a great deal of drama and adventure in this one with all the twists and turns while good battles evil. And trust me, evil is out in full force. This is a great read and I can't wait to read 'Xander' next.

Very Good!

This was very good in the plot of good vs bad & family helping family; but in no time did I find it erotic.

Owen, bought a property that had lots of big extras that came with it. But, he felt that there was someone from the family that had lived here once that he could give some thins that he found.

Clare, makes a living drawing murals & when she’s not doing that she takes care of her disabled brother, Conrad.

Owen & Clare find each other through her brother Conrad. Conrad & Clare are great great relatives of the elderly lady that used to live on the property that he bought.

Now it’s your time to read & decide if you like is book too.

Loved it

Owen finds his mate in the descendent, of the original owner of his house. She comes with a sweet older brother, who has some disabilities. She also comes with parents who have faked their death, and are after her brother for the insurance money. Her parents come with a crime lord, who wants his money back. They are going to cause trouble.
Great story, fun fast paced and steamy story.

Heart breaking good-bye

I am bidding goodbye to an author who has decided to sacrifice quality for quantity. At $5.99 a book it is not worth it. Especially when I could pick up one of her stories that I already have and I would be reading the same plot.

I absolutely love these Winchester brothers. They didn't grow up with money, so when they came into money after a family friend passed away, they didn't let it go to their heads.

Owen has recently purchased a new home and has discovered many trunks buried around the property that hold the old owners treasures. Determined to find the family that the treasures belong to, he's surprised to discover that the woman is his mate. A prickly mate at that.

Clare...while I understand her reasons for being the way she was when her and Owen first met, she just turned me off right from the beginning. After parents that treated her and her brother as nothing more as an inconvenience, she's determined to protect her brother at all cost.

However, before Owen and Clare can live the good life and discover the treasures their new house has to offer, Clare's past is starting to catch up with her and her brother. Owen must protect his new family and convince Clare that she no longer is alone and has family to lean on.

I really enjoyed Owen, Clare and Conrad's story.. The way that everyone excepted Conrad's disabilities and focused on how creative he was touched my heart. While the story was based on Owen and Clare, Conrad had a front row seat to the events and drama taking place. Clare was very untrusting of others and protective of her brother. She has very good reasons and when you find out why you will want to get the bad guys yourself. The first meeting between Owen and Clare was tense but they slowly figured it out. I loved finally getting to see what was in all trunks hidden in the barn and Birdie was fun. Some interesting twists and turns keep the storyline moving along at a good pace and the characters are always great. I thoroughly enjoyed the FBI's handling of "Randy", it definitely made me laugh. The look at what is next definitely has me hoping it will be out soon and wondering who is next getting a mate.
I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.

Claire is a pretty angry person in the beginning. Who wouldn't when you need to protect your brother who is handicapped and you can't trust people.
This story is actually based on Claire and Owen. Conrad however had really the main role in here.
Claire's brother Conrad is the sweetest guy I ever read about. Also to get a look into Conrad's head and really read about him telling and thinking things. Genius writing. I totally believe it. He is so smart and can do so much more if just people would spent a bit of energy in him. To let him develop to the real person he can be. Claire started with that and Owen and his family help him further. Conrad really stole my heart in this book and was for me my favorite person! I loved everything about this book and really can't wait for more.

This time around we see Winchester brother Owen find his mate. When Owen discovers Clare is his mate she wants nothing to do with him. She trusts no one and will do anything she needs to to protect her brother Conrad from harm. I really liked Conrad, despite being mentally handicapped, Conrad is quite amazing. He takes to Owen right away. Then Clare finds out her parents, whom she thought dead, are very much alive and attempting to find their son Conrad.....they mean to do him harm and the Winchester family will do whatever is necessary to take care of him. It was great to see what was in the crates on the property that Owen owns. Next book up is for brother Xander.
