Easy and quick read. The book gives a high level overview of how cloud works and provides a good base to reason about cloud technology and delve deeper into specific areas.

Awesome explanation about the cloud that made me finish this book in one sitting. Best book to start learning about Cloud technologies, especially for non-techies. For techies, there is a hidden treasure of cloud services architectures, especially Netflix. Would recommend everyone to read this book.

Fantastic read

Enjoyable even for someone who’s moderately technical but still gets caught up in jargon. Loved the real world examples and illustrations.

If you are a beginner or an expert, I think book is great and entertaining read for all. I think this reproves that the answer to the age old question "how do you know if you have truly understood something?" is "Try explaining it to a 10 year old"
Todd explains the working of cloud in an extremely simple way with some great examples. Definitely well spent for anybody getting started to know about Cloud or anybody who wants to know what goes behind the scenes when you click play on a Netflix movi

Pretty very basic stuff, don't expect to learn much if like me you've had some-average experience/knowledge of cloud, highly recommended for clearing basics and getting a good grasp of the fundamentals. Finishing chapters are good, especially the one on Netflix. A light read, could be finished in one-two days with decent reading. Not very technical content, best for a layman starting up to understand cloud or for anyone who struggles to visualize how things might work behind the black box that i ...more

Good explanations, although probably too basic for a software developer

I had read before that this book had something for everyone. I do think it is a good explainer on the cloud, but I walk away not knowing much more than before I began. That
said, I would highly recommend this for those not in the software development industry.

This is one of the best, if not the best book on understanding the Cloud. Highly recommend it to people starting out in the Cloud Industry. Todd does a great job of using simple analogies to explain the fundamentals of what makes up the Cloud. I also enjoyed the use of real life examples (e.g. Facebook Messenger and Netflix) to further cement the reader's understanding of how the Cloud works. ...more

Nice Read - Ghost cease to exist with light of knowledge

It is being Saif that if you can not explain things in simple language then it’s waste of knowledge - I am astonished as well as delighted to go through this book content and author’s explanation prowess

Some good parts, a lot of basics and repetition

It clarified a bunch of hazy concepts for me. That was definitely good. It was an easy relaxing read that I really enjoyed (even the boring parts were well written). Overall quite enjoyable and worth my time. I hoped there of the technical bits explained.

As the name says it's written well that could be understood by anyone. Easy and quick read. Yes it is too basic for software developer, who already has idea. Yes as mentioned by many people, Netflix chapter is really interesting and has many insights on what is happening behind in providing the user fast and quality videos. ...more

The book title is right. This is really for 10 years old. The second last chapter about making sure people know cloud computing isn’t about the cloud in the sky says it all. I do manage to learn something in the chapters on cloud computing and Netflix. It is overall a good introductory book for anyone who has minimum knowledge in computer science.

They say that if you can't explain something simply enough, you haven't understood it well.
This book attempts to demystify Cloud for all readers alike.
I have always been a fan of the ELI5 (Explain Like I am 5) thread on Reddit and when I chanced upon this book, I was expecting this to be in a similar fashion. It didn't disappoint.

Excellent explanation

If you can explain thing simply, it means you understand it well. And this book does very well for all level readers regarding what cloud is and how it works using some example of popular cloud services we have used. im glad i bought this book.

This book cost me around 10 bucks and took me 4 hours of total reading time to finish and gave me better insight to the cloud than my grad level course called systems for data science. I realized I wasted $4000 and 5 months on a useless course instead of reading this

Explained every term in layman terms. I found Netflix chapter to be interesting, rest most of the book was pretty basic.

A great explanation of “The Cloud” in a conversational tone for the nontechnical crowd. You’ll discover that the cloud maybe complicated but not incomprehensible. I learned a lot!
