description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
This book was all kinds of fifty shades of awesome. It was like watching an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS in book form. And since I am currently binge watching all 13 seasons of that series every character in this book looked like their TV counterpart (lol). The writing was phenomenal. The pace was fairly good. I will say that this felt maybe a TAD too long. It took me just over four hours to finish. The story was told through dual POVs and we jump back and forth from pa

Though I never read anything by V. F. Mason before now, I still anticipated the hell out of this book. After reading the blurb, I added it to my tbr immediately. I love a story with a serial killer for a main character! Throw in a romance between said killer and a criminal psychologist, and I'm sold!

So "Psychopath's Prey was my first book by this author and I am actually blown away by how much I enjoyed this.
I really can't wait to have a good old nose into what else this author has to offer.
So I'm going to start by saying that this is one ARC I was gagging to dig into and quite often when this happens my expectations are shattered when the book doesn't quite live up to the hype I've built up in my head.
Not so here, I would

Having read and liked Sociopath Duet and Pakhan Duet I was looking forward to read this.

This is a book with enough suspense and thrill it will keep you engaged: a serial killer who goes the extra mile to draw the attention of a particular FBI profiler.
When Psychopath sets his eyes on Ella it is game on for him The hunter has found his prey, and nothing will stop him until he gets her.

While Ella and her colleagues desperately try to identify the serial killer before he strikes again, he is play

  Evil isn't born, it's made.

So are the words of Psychopath, a serial killer whose modus operandi consists in kidnapping nice family men (loving heads of perfect families), torturing and killing them, then feeding their scattered body parts to the wolves. Sick, isn’t it?
But what if the men are not nice, nor loving, and they are in fact wife beaters and child abusers? What if these men rape their wives in front of their children, beating them bloody and abusing them psychologically and physical
I don't know what it was with this book. It had all the makings of a book I would love. It has rave reviews. People whose opinions I trust liked it. Somehow, though, it bored me out of my mind. It started off well, but quickly just kind of fizzled out. I don't know if it was the dual perspectives or flashbacks, but I couldn't get into it. I found the h annoying and the H one-dimensional. It's weird, though, because we are given a lot of backstory. This could definitely be a case of "it's not you ...more

While it wasn't badly written, I'm afraid I found this one a bit boring. I love a good take-what-he-wants Alpha-hole and love, even more so, when there's an element of crazy, but Psychopath's Prey missed the mark for me.

Short recap: Ella was definitely dealt a crappy hand, but she's strong and wants to move beyond her own tragedy to help others. I get that. She's strong, blah, blah, but when shit hits the fan (again), her you-will-never-break-me attitude gets tiresome, especially once it starts

Wasn't really dark, in fact there was NOTHING dark until about 59%. And then it was minimal. No non-con, or dubious consent and a very small amount of violence (I couldn't even call it torture) of the h. The worst of the violence were remembered scenes of Psychopath witnessing his father beat his mother.

Not really a romance either, or at least a romance I believed. I struggled to get to 45%, I just found it quite boring and didn't really feel a connection to the characters. I did eventually with

This is one I’m not sure I can wrap my head around. I think if you suspend reality, completely, this may work for you. Not sure how someone who’s family is killed by a serial killer ends up surrounded but killers, choosing that as a profession. Anyway, I figured out who Psychopath was pretty early on but kept second guessing myself think there is no way...but yep way! It was an entertaining story if nothing else!

It’s taken me a few days to pen my review for this story. PP is one of the most intense reads I’ve experienced in quite a while. I should have known to expect only the most messed up from Mason!

The psychopath is a very deep, dark, and disturbed guy. Well isn’t that the definition of the word? Yes I know but this dude has created another element, another level of the definition. You will understand the how’s and why’s early in the story. Meanwhile, the heroine Ella is working to overcome her past

When I first read the blurb to this story I was so intrigued and knew I absolutely needed to read it. This is going to be a really difficult review to write as EVERYTHING is a spoiler and this story is best enjoyed when you're completely in the dark! I absolutely FLOVED this story!! I loved the heartpounding suspense and the way it consumed me. I loved Ella from the getgo. She was strong, determined and sassy and everything I love in a heroine. Overall this novel was mindblowing and I could not ...more
Sissy's Romance Book Review
Psychopath's Prey by VF Mason is a really exciting dark romance. Ella is trying to find the Psychopath killer but it looks like he has her already in his sites.
This will set off some triggers and is again a very dark romance. The story line kept me on the edge of my set....a definite page turner.
Exciting Story!~

DNF, left in chapter 18. I found this book to be boring and to think that I was practically salivating at the synopsis. It's written well but I had to get past those long sentences with commas at the beginning and I find that I always start rapping whenever I read a sentence with a lot of pauses.

Ohhh, this book is so fucked up, the author makes us sympathize with the serial killer and feel nothing for the victims. And I assume that the main gets Stockholm syndrome by the end of the book but she

This was my first V.F Mason book and it just increased my TBR list because it was that good. It was this intricate mix of a past and present, suspense and intrigue. It was gritty and so interesting. It really felt like I was inside a whole season of Criminal Minds, with a bit more adult content and grit. I loved the story telling style and way the story unfolded. I loved that it kept me guessing and the POV it was told in.

Ella's life has not been easy. Her family was slaughter which only

I’m trying to figure out how to review this book and give it justice but it’s hard. This book was well thought out. Well worded, just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, keep me thinking and wondering who the psychopath is. Ella is the main counter part of this book, along with the psychopath. We get in their heads and slowly start to understand then each for different reasons. I really enjoyed the story. I was challenged when it come to figuring out what was going on, who was doing what,

*Sighs* I really wanted to love this book but in the end, I didn't buy into their love and the serial killer thing kinda went over the top. I did enjoy the first half but just as I needed the story to tighten up and dive deeper, it went wide, leaving me feeling unsatisfied. Overall, I felt it lacked the finesse and the depth I needed to love it.

I am avid reader of dark romance and thrillers and over time have developed specific likes and dislikes, so while this didn't tick all my boxes,

2 stars. This should’ve worked but man it was so boring. Nothing of interest happens for more than half of the book and then when things do happen it’s all convoluted and silly. The mystery of who the killer is is so obvious right from the start even though the book tries really hard to throw you off. I knew who it was immediately. I didn’t like either character and I felt no chemistry between them at all. Ella is the definition of too stupid to live. That girl is naive as hell and I couldn’t be ...more

I anticipated a lot of this book because I love a psychopath. Their the most interesting characters. However this book just didn't do it for me. It baffles me why.

Firstly I wasn't so invested in the characters as I would normally be and to be honest I knew who the psychopath was from day one, not because they mention it but because it just seemed obvious.

I did like the ending. For a minute I thought it was a cliffhanger until I read more and my suspicions were confirmed. Happy ending, even for

Dark. Romance. Thriller. These three words sum up Psychopath's prey perfectly. This book had so much mystery it kept me on my toes. I loved everything about this book. This is a definite must read of 2018!

This book promised so much but it turned out dud. I read a few books with similar themes this year. Though the topic attracts me, the execution is very dull and boring. The heroine seems too stupid.
I like a dark hero. But this one didn't do it for me.

A Big DNF.
I'm not much of a contemporary fiction person, romance or otherwise, but I had to give the dark romance side a try - and I rather enjoyed it!

I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it had had a more thorough editing; there were only so many times I could read about someone's "drilling" gaze or "pools" for eyes. But I found the story interesting, simply because I was getting some major Clarice/Lecter vibes, and that has been one of my ships for years and years, so, umm, how could I not?

I dove in with my Inspector Gadget senses to figure out Psychopath. I was in need of a good dark book and this did not fall short!

We are taken on a delicious ride of trying to figure out who he or she may be. The more clues we are given the more the mystery builds. These three characters have been dealt the crappiest of lives and as they are thrown together they explode. From the intrique, the doom, the gloom, the tragic, the smarts, the sex and the who are they really?! I was a psych major so t

Psychopath's Prey is more of a suspense genre book. the mystery was in trying to figure out who Pschopath is. and I assure you you will never guess correct cause he even refers to himself in third person form ( I know, WTF). this dude is so twisted and I was a bit disturbed with his obsession with the h for purposes of inflicting bodily harm to her...(again, wtf😯). and what's even more disturbing is despite all this, the heroine was easy breezy and as cool a
