Dealing with her husband's infidelity means Eva's throwing herself into her equestrian dreams. Her trainer convinces her to show. Her goal? Not to embarrass herself.
Except her husband wants back into her life, her horse has colic, and Eva's world is turning upside down. Does she want him back into her life and what if her riding goals are stressing out her horse?
Eva knows there's only one way to get through. Heels down. Eyes up. And relying on her support team, which may now include her husband.

Mary Kit Caelsto never grew out of the phase of being a "horse crazy girl". Though she's now over 40, she's finally fulfilling her dream of writing equestrian books for others who haven't grown out of being "horse crazy". She lives in the Ozarks with her four very spoiled and very opinionated horses, as well as a large flock of poultry and enough cats to qualify her as a crazy cat lady. Her husband, though not an equestrian himself, understands and supports all her equestrian dreams.
She's convinced three of the best things in the world are the smell of a sun warmed horse, the smell of leather tack, and making sure to hug her horses every single day.

Steady on Course has a great premise, but unfortunately, the execution is lacking. It was so boring that I had to force myself to finish it. I didn't end up connecting to, or liking, either of the leads and if neither are likable, then I am unable to care about their story. This one is a miss for me.

I really enjoyed this book, although it was short for my taste. I was looking forward to the horse theme, I just wish there was a bit more on the horse Cin himself. If he had any quirks or anything. Am looking forward to see what happens with the other ladies in the group.
This was a novella, less than 100 pages. I didn't agree with the main character, Eva, in her decision to give her cheating husband another chance, although this was not resolved by the end of the book. Also, even though three of the other women at the barn were referred to as her friends and she spent some time with them, she didn't seem to know them very well, and they didn't really act like friends. More like acquaintances. I liked Eva's horse, but felt like the equestrian aspect of the book could have been more in-depth and interesting, much like the knowledge we were given of Eva herself. The book was not written in a particularly compelling way, and I think that with more length and detail, along with a more inviting writing style (or just Eva's voice) it could be improved and made into something truly worth reading. 2.5 stars.

Eva promised her sister before she died of breast cancer she would ride more and show and now she had been asked to go to her first show. She lacked the self confidence to show but decided to show anyway with the encouragement of her friends at the barn where she kept her horse. There was also her relation ship problems with her husband who had left 3 months before telling her she loved the barn and her horse more than him... this had happen after she accidentally found out that he had had an affair and now he wanted to get back together.. but trust once broken is very hard to regain, would they be able to work out their problems to get back together or would they eventually get divorced... How would she do at the show, because she was so afraid of embarrassing herself..
This book ends on a cliffhanger I am looking forward to reading the next book. Eva's husband Mark cheated on her he says he wants her back but does he really? With finally getting her dream of competing in an equestrian event with her horse Cin does she really need Mark coming back into her life right now? I enjoyed reading this book it kept my interest until the end.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
...for a rainy afternoon. I didn't feel the connection with the characters that I usually like, but the book is well researched and I loved the descriptions of Cin.
