This is fourth in a series and two couples from previous books figure here. I'm not sure how much you need the first two to understand this one. Eden did a pretty good job of not making me feel like I'm missing anything.

I'm dnfing this at 65%, and it all comes down to a single issue. The story is well written and the characters are engaging and the setting is vividly drawn. The thing is that I hate the conflict between the main couple and feel like it's being manipulated to draw it out. Which is

If there was ever a historical place and group of people that I would want to go back and visit, Hope Springs would be that place. Yes, I know that the people are fictional, I know it's a story, but still, I would be there in a heartbeat if it were a possibility! I cannot begin to describe how much I loved this book. I adore the O'Connor family and feel like they are family. How can you not when you read the book and feel the love that radiates from them towards anyone they meet? They're family ...more

Yet another series of Sarah M. Eden's that I'm behind on, but who in their right mind would turn down an opportunity to read one of her books. This is the fourth book in the Longing for Home series, and though I've only read My Dearest Love, which is kind of like an introduction to the O'Connor family, I wasn't lost because a lot of the characters in My Dearest Love are in Long Journey Home. I had questions about what happened to Finbarr and Katie but they didn't hinder the pleasure I felt read ...more

Long Journey Home is another masterpiece from beloved author Sarah M. Eden. I truly love this series of books and Long Journey Home is a perfect addition to the series. Maura and Ryan were wonderful characters. I enjoyed the plot and the conflict the characters had between wanting to be friends and remaining rivals on who keeps the farm each person desperately needs. Maura is keeping a secret, and when Ryan finds out, he can't help but feel for her. I loved the connection with the wonderful O'Co ...more

Another amazing addition to the series! I think each book just gets better and better as we come to know the O'Connor family and their community in Hope Springs even more. I loved the way the author incorporated the main characters from previous books in meaningful ways, not just appearances for the sake of having their names in the book. Also, without doing a plot rehash of the previous books. These can be read out of order, but meeting them Long Journey Home will definitely make you want to go ...more

Man, I should not have read two Eden books in a row. Her books tend to have a sad feel to them and after reading about a woman who was forced to live in an Asylum in 1900's it was not a good idea to read about Grady's widow who suffered alone for years and is now sick. UHG! So sad! I love this whole series so it was a little heartbreaking to read this one. The first half of the book was a little to much for me, I almost gave this 3 stars, it seemed to drag and there was a bit of repetition in th ...more

The Longing for Home series by Sarah M Eden is one of my all time favorites. I just love the way she's written her characters. They are some that I think of often, almost as dear friends. And the setting of the little town of Hope Springs, Wyoming is just as great as her characters. This series is a must read in my book, but you must start at the beginning with  Longing for Home . You could read these out of order, but there are so many details, I think you'd be confused.

This is probably one of my all time favorite book series ever. I can't tell you how much I love these people and these stories. I don't know why it resonates so deeply with me, but it does. Every single time I pick up a new book, I am transported to Hope Springs to reunite with a family that have become so real and vibrant in my mind.

Sarah Eden is masterful at writing people who feel so real to me. I get to know them through her words. Their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, hopes a
This is another beautiful love story by Sarah Eden. Her characters always make me smile and their journey to find love always touches my heart. Ryan and Maura in this story were fantastic. Ryan is a dream man. So kind. So giving. So utterly perfect for dear Maura, who is strong, yet vulnerable because of her sickness. Her son, Aiden, is a fun character to watch grow and blossom during the plot. This is a great American frontier love story, and I loved learning about things such as brown lung, ca ...more

I love the Hope Springs series. The writing is so well done that I feel like I have been transported to the small town of Hope Springs Wyoming Territory and am hearing the tales of my friends, neighbors, and family. The characters are so well developed that I feel as if I know them. I care what happens to them. I can’t wait to hear Patrick’s story.

Reading another book from the Longing For Home Series is coming home to family. This has become one of my favorite series because of the characters that I've grown to love. I know that this book could be read as a stand alone, will be a more rich, reading experience if you read these books from the beginning. You will have a deeper understanding of the characters, and their motivations behind their actions.

When I saw that Sarah Eden had a new book coming out in her Hope Springs series, I could hardly wait to get my hands on it. I think this is one of my very favorite series. (If you recall, I was totally on Team Tavish for the first few books. Love him!)

This book takes us back to Hope Springs and it's a little like coming home. There is a lot of interaction with characters from previous books and it's like getting to visit with them once again and see how their lives are going!

Another wonderful read from Eden in this Longing for Home series, set in Hope Springs, Wyoming. This adventure began with Katie, but we have gradually been taken into the lives of the O’Connor’s. Stalwart Irish family who seen the backbone of the local community.

Maura was married to their son Grady, but didn’t follow the family from New York. Desperate to stay close to her own family, her & Grady stayed behind. Now 13 years on her is devoid of any family, save her son Aiden. Having lost Gra

Romance, clean; period; series, but stand alone read
While this is a series, and characters from other novels appear in the novel, this is a stand alone read, you can easily read this without reading the other novels/novella.
Maura and Aiden's journey to family is a compelling, heartfelt read. This novel set in the fictional town of Hope Springs, is a beautiful journey of healing and hope for the family and characters in the novel. Lots of obstacles, just in the struggle to survive, to be healthy,
Sarah M. Eden has written another page turning and heartwarming novel in her Hope Springs Series. Long Journey Home, book four in the series, is a well narrated story that readers will delight in from page one. Along with the return of the beloved town Hope Springs, Eden brings to life captivating characters and a story that will touch the heart of readers. A favorite among many readers, once again, Eden charms them with the masterpiece of her adored Irish stories. Filled with characters that st ...more
I love this book! I love this whole series!! Hope Springs is a special place with real characters and stories that always pull at my heart. There are struggles, there is heartache, and there is so much love and joy.

Maura is a wonderful mother that will do anything to help her son. She is kind, giving, brave and quite stubborn. Ryan is as good a guy as you will ever find. He is full of strength and has such a big heart. I loved watching the love between them grow.

There is something very special

Another great book from Sarah M. Eden. On its own, I enjoyed it. The characters are great, the story great, the tension great. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that there are a few issues with the story. Nothing major, just a few inconsistencies and unanswered questions. And the hero and heroine feel a little recycled. Maura is headstrong and independent to a fault and has to learn to accept help from others (like Katie) and struggles with a debilitating illness that threatens her fu ...more

Long Journey Home is a great read! I would love to read the rest of the series in the near future. I give it five plus stars.
Highly recommended.
I received this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the other Hope Springs books, I think because I wasn’t familiar with the main characters from the previous books (or maybe they were there and I just hadn’t paid attention).
It was still good and I liked seeing the characters I’ve known and loved throughout the series. I hope Finbarr’s story is next...

As an impoverished widow, Maura O'Connor has done her best to care for her son Aidan, working and living in the slums of New York City. Realizing that Aidan is miserable and that she has the dreaded "brown lung" from working in a factory, Maura decides to join her deceased husband's family out west in Hope Springs. Maura has been estranged from the O'Connors for years, but she hopes that the family will welcome them at least a little and that they'll be a family to Aidan when she dies. Arriving ...more

I have loved all of Eden's books but struggled with the first in this series. The first two actually. But because I have loved all the other Eden books I decided to continue on with the series and I'm so glad I did. Each of the next have been so good. I don't often give 5 stars but I did for this one because it just had to be more than a 4 star. I loved it. We still see all the people of Hope Springs struggling to survive in a difficult environment but we also see how they work together to overc ...more

I normally don't agree to read books of this length because it's difficult for me to dedicate enough time for them. But, I'm so glad I agreed to this one.

Maura is a widow and has been a single mother for around 10 years. Consequently, she's independent and fiercely determined to do whatever it takes to help her son succeed. So, even though she's just confirmed that she's sick with brown lung disease, when she learns that her son is unhappy living in New York, she risks everything to move him we

This was an absolutely riveting story with it’s rich backdrop of life in the West and the warmth of family.
Maura is a widow with a teenage son. Her life of poverty almost made me put down the book at the beginning; it was so desperate. Living in New York, struggling to survive after contracting the fatal lung disease from working in a cotton factory, her young son Aidan’s hopelessness is the final push that makes her decide to leave and seek help from her in laws who live out west in Wyoming.

I love my visits to Hope Springs!

JSYK, this can be read as a stand alone novel but knowing the supporting characters really enhances the story.

Maura O'Connor was first met with her husband, Grady and baby Aidan in "My Dearest Love" which was Ian and Biddy's story and book 4 in the Longing For Home series. When the O'Connor family went West, Grady and Maura, along with brother Patrick, stayed in New York. We hear little about those left behind in the intervening stories.

We meet Maura and Aidan in

I loved it! This story touched my heart. Long Journey Home is part of the Longing for Home series that tells the story of the O’Conner family and their community Hope Springs. Maura O’Conner lost her husband Grady at Gettysburg. After struggling with poverty and illness she sells everything and moves her 13 year old son Aiden from New York to Hope Springs, Wyoming Territory. As an in-law to the O’Conner’s, Maura struggles to find her way to belonging in the O’Conner clan but she feels hopeful wh ...more

This is the first book I have read in the Hope Springs series. It is completely readable as a stand-alone novel, but I am pretty certain I need to read the others now! It is absolutely wonderful. I was a little uncertain in the first couple of chapters, but by the third I was hooked. Two people who are rivals and should have been enemies are both so genuinely caring and compassionate that they never feel any real animosity. A widow uncertain of her acceptance into her in-law family, discovers th ...more

I love Sarah M. Eden's books! She is so amazingly talented, and is constantly coming up with stories that include people that I care about.

I was happy to visit Hope Springs again with Long Journey Home. Eden did such a good job portraying a mother's love. Maura had it rough in New York City, but she had people who depended on her and even though it wasn't a good place to live, the decision to leave was difficult and required a huge sacrifice on her part.

I've come to care for the O'Connor family
