Sir Ernst Hans Josef Gombrich, OM, CBE (30 March 1909 – 3 November 2001) was an Austrian-born art historian, who spent most of his working life in the United Kingdom.

Good set of essays by Gombrich, There's a lot of academic questions, but a genuinely delightful piece on Leonardo, and a brilliant piece on the role of imitation in renaissance art, which every practising artist should read.
