Awkward outcast omega Emery Jones isn’t expecting to find anything more than adventure when he leaves his favorite hiking path and follows a strange series of markers through the woods… and he’s certainly not expecting to come face to face with the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen. He’s instantly smitten, but there’s one problem—his dream guy insists that he’s a dragon prince from another time, and Emery is his fated mate!
After thousands of years in stasis, Coryphaeus of Novis, the draconian Crown Prince, has been awakened by a kiss from his fated mate. But when the shy little omega denies his draconian heritage and tells Cory that dragons are nothing more than fairytales, Cory knows that the world isn’t as he remembers it. The dragons that once ruled the world are gone.
It’s too bad the threat they previously faced hasn’t gone extinct, too…
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
*2.75 Stars* Well, it's one of those times when a book is so bad it's good.
Which surprised me because I remember Piper Scott's Forbidden Desire series and the dialogue was not this cringe-worthy. Despite this complaint on my part I was still very entertained.
This has a really great premise! Four dragons frozen into stone for over 10,000 years. One awaked by his soulmate who accidentally stumbles upon him in a cave, deep in the woods. Emery's ordinary life completely turned upside down while he guides his dragon Prince, Coryphaeus, through the modern world all the while realizing that his appearance hasn't gone unnoticed, and life is about to take a dangerous turn. Bring in paranoid dragon expert, unknown enemy, m-pregnancy. Alot of fun and entertainment.
I won't deny there are a lot of things that didn't work for me in this story. The dialogue, writing style and the overall pace being my main issues. The MC's are a bit two-dimensional as well, but I was able to overlook that personally. You have your standard virginal/shy/small framed omega and tall/strong/Alpha male. It's imperfect, but if anyone is looking for something quick, easy, sweet, effortless with dragons, m-preg and insta-love and not too much expectation, it's quite enjoyable.
I love this story, normally I am not too fond of dragon shifter stories but this series is great (except for the unicorn stuff but that will come later in the series)
I LOVED THIS! Hands down, my favorite thing I have read from these authors - they are an awesome duo to think up this series and I just absolutely adored this entire story. (And I love that they're all being released just a week apart from each other! No waiting!)
Emery is an omega who, when out hiking, discovers a cave with statues in it - and when he kisses one, it comes to life! Coryphaeus, AKA Cory, is a dragon prince from centuries ago, and he and 4 of his friends/protectors were frozen in a stasis. When Emery wakes him up, there is just this instant connection - they call it a heartsong, and their chemistry and passion was just BOOM HOT. Knotting, intense chemistry, and mpreg in this one, folks!
I loved so many things about this - their chemistry was just off the charts and it just worked for me. And I love how Emery thought he was going crazy so he took Cory to his mom and his mom was just like, "oh you found a dragon and are now pregnant? Oh, OK! Awesome, let me call this guy!" Emery's mom was awesome.
There's some action, some surprises, and I just loved this story. Sam was awesome, too, I can't wait for Sam's story and to get stories from the other dragons that were in the cave with Cory.
In terms of story, this book wasn't so great, since many questions were left without answers and the world building was a bit lacking, but what I found really interesting and really well done, were the dialogues and the inner thoughts. Coryphaeus of Novis was a nice alpha, he was kind, gentle and respected his omega. He didn't pretend but listened, while Emery wasn't the typical weak omega that only followed orders. They had great personalities and also if the story wasn't one of the best I have ever read, concerning Dragons, the MCs kept me into the plot. The fact that the pregnancy was more realistic than other books was interesting too. I'm gonna read the 2nd book tonight and I hope that Sam's story is an intriguing one.
Ps= Btw finally a story were an omega too has to mark the alpha, for them to become mates. And actually an alpha that likes to do what his omega asks.
Told in a dual POV, Alpha Awakened has an interesting premise with potential, but the story dragged a bit, it had a some holes in the plot, it wasn't very clear in the wrap up of the mystery behind who was after Cory, and it was a bit scant on the mpreg details, all of which made this a bit of a frustrating read at times for me.
However, there is enough interest in the characters and the series set up that I can see picking up Blaze and Sam's story (Alpha Ablaze) to see what happens next.
This had an interesting underlying story. But the execution....not so great. I only finished it because I wanted to know the mystery of it. It was a little disappointing actually... I mean, they had an “unnamed enemy” but was so easily and quickly defeated without any explanation who they were and why they were their enemies to begin with. Argh.... I honestly expected more from Piper Scott...=[[
Thanks to my GR friend Bo, I went into this book not expecting much. To be honest that probably helped the rating because I went in with such low expectations. Yes, I was curious about the whole statue scene, sue me 😏. In the end, there were positive and negatives to this story. All I have to say is thank goodness for KU!
Good: Enjoyed reading about Cory getting acquainted/explaining this new world he was in. Also, the detail in the beginning was good.
Bad: Still really don’t know who the enemy is (or was)?!? Not to mention, easily defeated. Didn’t even know about Emery’s dad until almost 46% in and even then still don’t know much. After the beginning, detail went downhill in regards to characters and the world they now lived in.
Great beginning to the excellent collab by Susi Hawke and Piper Scott.
Dragons, what can you say about the sexy beasts that command the skies and can breathe fire. Cory is the Crown Prince of Novis who has been in stasis for over a thousand years awakens to his "heartsong" Emery. Emery an unlucky Omega who has no idea that he has dragon blood in his veins. The attraction is instant but Emery can't believe this handsome man wants him.
I'm ready for the second book that comes out on Monday. Great collab ladies!
4.5 stars - I'm on a tear through paranormal series lately thanks to KU and this book really stands out in the bunch. Dragons are being awakened after a long sleep and Emery stumbles across four stone figures in a cave during a hike in the woods. To his shock one turns into a man that turns out to be a dragon. But Emery himself is more than he knows and the adventure/romance begins.
The characters stand out in this story and it's quite a captivating story in my opinion. This reader was very happy to find there are more books in the series already published - cannot wait!
It had all the makings of the good story. The plot twist was ok in the beginning but I could not connect with Cory at all. Emery was a cute klutz, vulnerable and insecure. His self deprecating humor was fine to a point. But Cory and his syrupy sweet words from the beginning made my eye twitch. I understand 'want your mate from the moment you see them' thing but this one did nothing for me. I even half skipped through intimate scenes which I never do. There was too much internal dialogue while they were getting it on and it was off-putting for the book. For some people this book will be great. This one just isn't for me.
Let's be honest. These two are established authors and I have enjoyed a book or two by both of them. But when people get cocky they get sloppy. This book is sloppy. They tried too give the omega this whimsical silly POV but it was excessive. I don't really like any alpha who's says he'd have to "make sure he (the omega) remembered who the alpha was". Just be and alpha don't try put you omega in his place. Eh there are better books out there.
I listened to the audiobook of this, and I'm not sure if I loved it or not. The narrator was actually super awesome. He did a great job at differentiating the voices, and I felt like he captured the characters well. What I wasn't so sure about was how the dialogue overall sounded when it was read aloud as opposed to reading it. There were a lot of repetitive phrases and sentences that were said that after a while it got a bit annoying to listen to(for one example-Coryphaeus talked repeatedly about how much he needed to protect Emery. I got the point!). I don't know if I would have noticed it as much if I were reading it rather than listening to it. The overall story of the dragons was interesting, though, and it kept me intrigued. There are questions that haven't been answered in the big overarching story, so I would definitely be interested in reading more. I think I would rather the ebook, though. However, I REALLY enjoyed the voice of the narrator, so I will definitely be checking out more of his books.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC received by LesCourt Author Services
Decent dragon series, but not as good as Scott’s Forbidden Desires series and spinoff with dragons. I skimmed a lot of the second half. Coryphaeus and his men-at-arms have been stone statues for thousands of years because someone was trying to kill off his royal family until Emery hallucinates and follows the group into a cave and he finds them all frozen and kisses the one he was most attracted to. The kiss awakens Cory and Emery’s heat and they immediately decide to mate. Some big bad is after them because they know Cory has been awakened and ope, come to find out, Emery and him mom are ALSO dragons and they don’t know it. Lots of loose ends. Sam was super annoying as a conspiracy theorist and the Man is definitely going to end his life if he doesn’t annoy someone else to do it first. And Cory’s delivery of their baby? That was unexpected.
Tropes: fated mates, virgin hero, age gap, mpreg and birth
This was cute. Emery's adorable in his awkwardness and Cory is veryprotective of his new mate. I thought the premise was interesting, all the dragons have disappeared and Cory and his group have been in stasis for thousands of years. I am very curious to get more of the details of exactly what happened. I'm hoping in future books we get a little more information to answer the questions Cory must have about what happened with his people for dragons to be noth ing but myth any more and yet the bloodlines still be there as he can see the dragon in Emery.
The instalove of this was fine with the type of story that it was. The heartsong between Emery and Cory is what brings Cory out of stasis so obviously he was going to be all in. I liked them together, they were very sweet. But I find myself more curious about the greater story, what all is really going on, and what is to come next with dragons back in the world.
Wow this was a mess. The entire time I could not believe how poorly written this garbage was.
I really liked The Forbidden Desires series and am absolutely surprised that this came out of the same author.
I stuck with this book and at no point did it ever get better. It was just bad the entire way through. The characters were poorly written, the world building was non existent and the plot was just an amateur mess. The plot felt so poorly written with no form or structure. I just am baffled.
Even the Erotic moments were not worth having to deal with the awful writing between encounters. Nothing about the romance felt at all believable or was sold to me as something I could grab on to. It was a standard instalust but the writing just wasn't good enough to even sell that.
Surprisingly delightful! I thought it was going to be corny as hell based on the summary, but the MC Emery had a refreshing and funny personalty. He was so funny and awkward I fell in love with him. The dragon lore was pretty good, the sex was hot and although the evil doers of the plot weren't that impressive all-in-all I got way more out of this book than I was expecting. Totally can't wait to read Ablaze!
The book was definitely in a while other level of fantasy that I've never encountered since it included the likes of omegas, boy x boy romance and even them getting pregnant and having a daughter 😭 although, the intensity of their romance and many more events weirded me out whilst reading, I do love a romance and I love the connection and bond Emery and Cory had. The plot of wanting to wake the dragons was definitely something really interesting to read and I definitely can't wait to see what happens next!
When I saw Dragon Shifter… I was intrigued. When I saw who the co-authors were… I was excited. And when I saw who the narrator was… I was all-in to get this audiobook. And I was not disappointed in how this one turned out. It was AHHHMAZING.
Sometimes when there’s co-authors you’re not quite sure what you will get, but with these two; Susi Hawke and Piper Scott, they complimented each other perfectly in their writing styles, and the result was fantastic. If the rest of the books in this series turn out the same way, I cannot wait to get my hands on them. This book was a mix of a Great storyline, romance, and heat. It was fun and interesting following along with the characters in this book and I was pulled into the story from the beginning. We get a great premise and introduction to the series with this book. And I think their pick for the narrator just might have made this story more complete for me I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I’m just not quite sure I would have liked this one as much if I had “read” it compared to getting the Audio narration for it.
Colin Darcy was soooo good narrating this book. He’s a newer narrator so I’ve only listened to one other audiobook from him before and was totally amused by his voice for those characters, to the point that a month later I still remembered his name & voice instantly when I saw him listed for this one. Once again I was enthralled by his narration. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is exactly, but there is just something about his voice I Love. I really, really hope they stick with Colin as the narrator for the next books in this series, I think he can do them all justice for sure. He makes sure each character gets their own distinct voice and puts plenty of emphasis and emotion into each character so that it’s easy to follow along with the story. OMG and seriously, I am really looking forward to hearing more of his voice for Sam (Supporting character in this book, but is the main character in Book two, Alpha Ablaze) He NEEDS to be the voice for Sam..
I really liked how cute, awkward and clumsy Emory is. It was funny how confused he was when he first met Cory (Coryphaeus) and that he thought he was hallucinating. Lol. I couldn’t help but laugh at him & along with him. Cory was great, when he realizes that things are completely different from what he remembers he just rolls with it and goes with the flow, to the point of even having to hide himself inside for months on end to keep from being found. I’m not sure I would have been as calm as he was if I found out I was in stasis for a few thousand years and the rest of the dragons I knew were all gone. And the Heat and chemistry for these two guys is off the charts from the first moment they meet, lust, love and fated mate all in one place makes for a steamy story. One of the main things I was a little confused about though was who the enemies were and where they even came from? And how did they knew about the dragons awakening in the first place, oh and where the dragons cave was if it was hidden for so long? They were there, and then defeated so fast we didn’t really get much detail on what was happening. So since this is a series of books following along with a group of characters I’m assuming and hoping *fingers crossed* that we get more of an explanation in the next book, because that part definitely doesn’t seem finished to me. Other than being a little confused with that part I really enjoyed this book and am anticipating a great follow up and continuation in the next book with the new characters. Hahahaaa. Omg. And the ending line when Blaze comes awake *in Colin’s voice* was Great.
I am blaming Lynn and Piper for my new obsession with dragon shifters and omegas that get pregnant... This was another wonderful and hilarious at times story! And also, so sweet and sexy I ached! Absolutely loved it!
