First thing. They changed the art here and I am not a fan. It looks more like Manga artwork now with people smiling with open mouths and closed eyes. It's such a weird change.

I also though this was a weaker story. Where is this going? Is the story leading anywhere? We haven't learned any more about this forest and why the girls are protecting this land in some time. I'm ready to know more.

I did like the parents day. I did like the supernatural fox. It was nice seeing the kids interact with their parental units. They got a little taste of what camp is like. Still, the story didn't excite me all that much. I feel like the series has lost its shine and it's time for it to come to an end. Let's wrap it up and I see that they have 4 more volumes planned at least. I hope it gets better.

This marvelous mystery continues with a decidedly obvious but unpredictable (by me) event, parents' day at the camp. Meeting the fams from the super bright gay dads through to the parents that don't appear to have bothered to visit, bringing on the parents adds layers to our Roanoke Lumberjanes' characters. The girls, and allies have to outfox a wiley character whilst trying to keep all teh camp weirdness out of their parents view. Strong volume with some key character stories progressing strong, 8 out of 12.

This volume also featured amongst several female historical figure exclamations a 'sweet Sally Ride'!

quick thoughts:

• i'm a little disappointed there was another artist change. luckily, i adore kate leyh.
• her style is so bubbly and bright, and the colour scheme and the panelling were so beautiful. so it wasn't too bad
• this series is just so much fun. Ten volumes in, I should be getting sick of it but I honestly never what it to end
• I really loved getting to see the girls' parents
• It was a little plot-heavy for my taste, but the scavenger hunt was clever and I liked seeing Bear Women again
• The fox was also kind of oddly terrifying and legitimately gave me chills. I don't know what that says about my scare threshold....

Yessss Parents' Day was so exciting! I really loved seeing the girls with their parents and finding out more about them! The fox demon guy was a little freaky though omg, still really enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what issues are included in vol 11 (so I can read ahead but still keep up with reviews haha)

Readers of The Phantom Paragrapher, know that I often don't post graphic novels on my site, but one graphic novel series that I have fallen in love with is the Lumberjanes which are like girl scouts with a touch of magic. No matter how hard they try to be healthy, things happen. In Volume 10, it's Parents Day coming up, and all the campers parents are embarking on the camp to see how their children are going. Rosie and the Bear Woman have talked to the surrounding animals for a truce so that the day can act "normally'. Of course, what's a lumberjane graphic novel without a bit of chaos and mayhem as an elusive creature - the fox demon has gotten hold of Rosie's scavenger hunt form and added in a few extra crazy items for the families to find. However, when disaster strikes and a few parents go missing along with some campers, can the lumberjanes that remain keep the camp safe and find the missing campers and their parents? Parent's Day was another excellent installment of the Lumberjanes graphic novel series, and I look forward when I get back to work reading #Volume 11 for more Lumberjane fun.

Lumberjanes is important.

It's written by women, illustrated by women and about female characters.

It was originally conceived as an 8 part series but with an overwhelmingly positive reception the series was extended which brings us to the 10th volume. Using writers and illustrators who are at the very forefront of the industry keeps the series fresh and exciting.

I love this series.

4 stars!

The Lumberjanes are at it again and this time there’s parents involved to spice things up!! This group of friends never fails to make me smile and entertain me, it is surely one of my favourites.

This one introduced a suspenseful ending and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series!

What could go wrong when all the girls’ parents show up for the day and then are all sent on a scavenger hunt in the woods? Oh nothing....

I enjoyed this volume, but ultimately I think I’m getting worn out on the Lumberjanes. At least this book didn’t fall apart.

The graphics still make me unhappy. It feels like every issue has a different artist which is fine, I guess, but also confusing and I miss Stevenson's graphics. There, I said it.

The story was nice though not one of the more interesting ones in my opinion. We get to meet everyone's parents which is fun and Bear Woman makes another appearance. I had wished we learned more about Molly and her parents though and maybe we will further down the road. It seemed like there was some stuff there and we didn't get anywhere with it.

Of course. When I'm almost ready to ditch this series, it got better just to make me unsure about what to do. Even I promised more from taking all parents to the camp, it's something bit fresh. Plus there is a new villain, so new dangerous adventure. Of course, the backbone of the story is the same old story. OK Lumberjanes, you got one more chance to prove me wrong.

I only recently learned that the main series wrapped up last year or so. I and my daughter had read up through volume 9, which was as far as our public library's holdings went at the time. I had diminishing engagement with the series as the core story was dragging, and the art quality seemed to go downhill. Now, with the complete series available to us, I borrowed them all (and felt like an evil genius checking them all out from the library in one sick stack). My daughter has burned through them all a couple of times already, and I am starting back up from where I left off.

This volume, Parents' Day, is just okay. I did not care for the character models as drawn by yet another new series artist, although I warmed up to them over the subsequent collected volumes. The story was still light; the Roanoake campers' relationships with their parents didn't go particularly in depth, but there was some character there. Molly's coldness towards her 'rents gets scant page time after some foreboding emotional beats, but this character aspect gets revisited in the next volume too.

Read as single issues. Another great volume from Lumberjanes. It's nice to see more of all the kids parents and it's nice that all of their families are so different but, for the most part, loving and happy whether they have a single mom, two dads, or a dad and a grandpa. Also it's always great to see Bear Woman again and this volume also brings up Molly's desire to stay at camp forever and the weird passage of time again, which is something I generally forget about between volumes. I hope that's building to something really cool but I'm having a great time just reading all their random adventures in the meantime.

The Lumberjanes series has been a delightful romp to look forward to every few months, but being at Vol. 10, I think this is where I finally part ways with the series. It's a sweet, inclusive, and heartfelt adventure, but it seems to be going on with no end in sight, and there doesn't seem to be much happening in terms of the stakes. I would still love to see this as an animated TV series, but it's time for me to call it quits with the graphic novel series.

Read as single issues. Still don't understand how Kat Leyh is still employed as any sort of artist for this series. Every character she draws looks like a potato head it's so soooooo ugly

I enjoyed the interactions between the families and the campers, as well as the overall plot (trickster spirits have always been a hit with me), but I wasn’t really a fan of the new art style.

I love this series. I wish it was around when I was growing up, but I can enjoy this wholesome, lighthearted goodness now that I’m older :)

This particular volume hit a lot of spots, especially with Molly and her family.
I went from giggling at usually Ripley, to having tears stream down my face during certain parts being so relatable and just hitting that “spot”.

Or maybe I just a cry a lot, we’ll never know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Eu continuo amando essa série de HQs, mas a nova arte realmente não me agrada. Não é um estilo que eu curto e isso acaba pesando muito. Apesar disso, a história essa última edição foi ótima: eu adorei o Parent's Day e o conflito com a raposa.

This comic continues to suffer from being an ongoing monthly comic. It was much better as a limited series. The art is bad and getting worse. The plot, where are we going? OK, we have parents day, but there is a scavenger hunt, so we don't really learn anything new about the Parents. The bad parents are bad and the good parents are "AMAZING!" Then the main cast of the Lumberjanes act weird and not just because their parents are here. Suddenly those two just have to win a contest at all costs. It was just a bad story.

As I said in last review it seems like the creative team is all in on the this is a comic for little kids and not the fans who made it famous. Disappointed. 2.5 stars rounded up.
