They can't break me.

I wasn't prepared for what came after I got arrested and sent to prison. Finding my sister in that hellhole should've been easy.

I wasn't prepared to survive an alien planet straight out of a prehistoric nightmare. Facing my fears to withstand the creatures that wanted to eat me, and the four alien men that watched me like a morsel they wanted to sink th

Now, let's get this review started. I have received an epic ARC in exchange for a very honest review and boy, was i happy for it. Poppy Rhys is a damn master at alien romances - helloooo The Melier, anyone The Melier (Women of Dor Nye, #1)? and i happen to like the color blue (be it on an alien hunk or not) so you can imagine that i was hooked from basically before second 1.

Just a bit. This book is a bit of a package deal with the first one in the series Alluvial (Valos of Sonhadra #1) since t

I enjoy these books more than I thought I would.

Charlie was a likeable enough female MC, I liked her sister better though. I will admit that I am intrigued enough to know what happened to Papa Sol to read the novella about him, and to see if he gets reunited with his daughters.

The story is interesting enough that I will continue so I can see what happens to the rest of the female prisoners who crashed landed on this weird planet that these authors created.

My 5-star rating is absolutely real, but don't get excited - this review is kind of a test because I'm actually helping a friend on how to post a Goodreads review so I can take screenshots and show how it's done...

But I'll make up for it! Enjoy a Jason GIF =D

(And Tempest really does rock: LOVED Charlie & the guys *heart eyes* ♥)

Poppy Rhys draws me into her worlds with her realism in characters. They have depth with both good and bad qualities, just like a real person does. What a gift she gives us in her books!

Charlie is thrown into prison trying to rescue her incarcerated sister. When the prison crashes, Charlie finds and loses her sister when they escape in different directions. Charlie ends up in her worst nightmare - in the water.

The four Valos that she encounters are intimidating but she doesn't back down. I love

This is a super fun Alien romance series. Read Book 1 before this one to get the full enjoyment.

Charlie is a kickass heroine who meets her self some mer alien heroes. There is a cute pet and a nice reunion with her sister.

Fast fun read.

Book 2 in the series takes place underwater. Charlie, a former government operative purposely set herself up so she can go to prison to rescue her younger sister Preta. The rescue didn't happen as planned. The floating prison crash lands on an alien planet. Charlie is rescued/ kidnapped by a Valos named Dason. Dason lives with three other warriors Lanon, Zaid, and Kahn. Each of these guys is unique with their gifts, personality, and appearance. Let the underwater shenanigans begin. ...more
Poppy Rhys alien smut with a reverse harem trope.... I thought it was going to be a slam dunk. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me, granted I’ve been in a funk so don’t take my word for it.

I just couldn’t get into it. I hated Charlie, I felt like the whole book was just her internal yammering... what was the story about? She’s supposed to be finding her sister after their prison ship crashes on an alien planet... guess what she does, practically just runs into her on accident towards the end of the b

Sisterly love, man. It's a big one. I mean, sure, Charlie got a little distracted from her mission to recover her sister when she got caught up in the underwater city and had four beautiful men focused on her, but she was also sort of trapped in the city until the fish migration was over. Did you see the part about four men? Four dudes entirely dedicated to making sure she's cared for and *ahem* taken care of. Can you blame her for getting distracted?

As for me, I liked Charlie's men. They were f

Poppy Rhys can write really awesome sci-fi! If you don’t care for the Reverse Harem Genre then turn back now! This is absolutely one of the hottest books I’ve read in this genre. Great story and fun characters, too!! You’ll fall in love with Charlie’s 4 fish men. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has nothing on Dason, Zaid, Lonan, & Kahn!! If I had to choose I’d take Lonan because he’s sexy and electrifying. 😁

5 stars for content and heat in this amazing book!

One of the interesting things about this series is that you get a further look into the world of Sonhadra and I have questions. In Tempest, the main heroine is Charlie. She seemed more fleshed out and real, all of the characters were. Probably because it's a longer book, but still, the flow and characters were a little more interesting to me.

Side note: I'm trying to get back in the swing of leaving actual reviews with words and sentences and grammar and crap like that. (Don't hold your breat

second book in this compelation series of 9 by Poppy Rhys.

We meet Charlie, just your typical 29 year old living her life in London... right? WRONG...Charlie is a secret military in a futureistic that has a pretty outstanding view of the prison ship Concord, where the lowest of the low criminals are kept and innocent bystanders are being used as leverage and experimental drugs and procedures. This book was amazing! I'm telling you I devoured this book. I loved Charlie and her men. The way she portrayed their growing relationship was perfect. I couldn't choose a favorite, each of her men had a distinct personality, and the camaraderie between them was perfect. Just a warning, you may need a cool drink while reading this, I'm warning you! Some of those scenes are hot! and some parts are just hilarious! I loved the ending, and I'm hoping for more of their story. ...more

The Valos of Sonhadra series is a Sci-Fi alien romance with each of the 9 books in the series being told by a different author. If you have a favourite author of the bunch and don't want to read them all don't worry, each book can be read as a standalone. The background story for each book is the same, the heroine for nefarious and various reasons has been locked away in a prison ship and being experimented on by scientists. The experimentation changes each of the heroines in some way,

Just finished the second book of Sonhadra , TEMPEST , and I really enjoyed it !! I I had read the 1st book ALLUVIAL, by AMANDA MILO ( one of my favorite story tellers) , and since her story was actually linked with This story, I needed it !
TEMPEST is about Preta's sister Charlie's adventures after the crash of the prison pod of their prison spacecraft . In the future, all of the hardened criminals are out on a huge prison space ship that orbits Earth . So , Pret

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,I’m finding harder and harder to believe I once loved to read Ms.Rhys’s work, when read “The Melier” a few years ago I absolutely loved it..... it was one my favorite....
The second part was just ok,not bad but not nearly as good as the first part and part 3 was absolutely horrible, the H was a huge jerk that treated the heroine like dirt but the again she was a doormat w/ almost zero survival skills are commonsense.... and book 4 the heroine lies, cheats and

When it comes to Alien romances I usually prefer the H to be an Alien and the h to be plain human, so this series was a bit of an adjustment seeing as the heroines have all been genetically modified by evil scientists, but in the end I got used to it pretty quickly because they didn't end up being changed that much mentally and physically, they were still pretty human. The author did a great job with the story and I really enjoyed her writing.

The drool worthy four!!!

Oh Holy Hotness was this story good!!! Poppy Rhys has just blown this story right out of the water and raised the standards of this series. Now all I can do is hope they live up to this story (fingers crossed). I enjoyed this second instalment soooo much more than the first one and even though I'm not really into reverse harem stories this one has managed to change my mind. I think I may have actually been converted into a reverse harem fan. This story is about Preta's si

Tempest ties in with book one in the series, so you almost have to read both.  I would recommend in order.  Charlie gets herself sent to the prison ship to rescue her sister who is featured in book 1.  Once the vessel crashes they get separated, and Charlie gets kidnapped to an underwater realm.  Where she is kept by four male aliens, who are uber hot.  Until she can understand them she nicks names them,  Brick, (built like a brick sh*t house), Trouble (he looks like trouble), Kid (Kidnapper) an ...more

I really enjoyed this book.

Charlie has known death her whole life.
She has trained herself to be impossible to track after killing the monsters of the world.
After learning her baby sister has been taken as leverage against their father, she must find a way to get on the prison ship.
Luckily her job is one that gives her such an opportunity, only she needs to be caught this time.
When Charlie is taken away and now a prisoner on the ship, she can't imagine how her sister could have possibly been aliv

This is a DIFFERENT kind of fish story

Tempest is a fabulous follow-up to Alluvial in the new Valos of Sonhadra series. There is a bit of character overlap, but truly, this one also works as a standalone. Charlie (Charlene) is a black ops military assassin who blows her cover and her career to get sent to the prison where her sister has been held illegally. Prison in the future is a spaceship, and when it crashes on remote Sonhadra, Charliw must find a way to survive on her own. Until she meets h

Discovering a new world

Charlie has to find her sister on the alien planet that their prison ship crashed on. She saw Preta for a few brief minutes before they were separate by alien monsters trying eat everyone. Charlie's biggest fear is drowning, but she has to some water in her. She finds water but is afraid to get close enough to fall, and being water boarded daily on the prison ship did NOT help her fears. Thirst temporarily wins over win a man? Alien? Fish? Charlie is Preta from book ones' sister. She was working as an assassin on earth. A guy named Jackson had kidnapped Preta and sent her to prison so that he had leverage to make their dad do what he wanted. Charlie got herself thrown into the spaceship prison in order to save her sister. But after a couple weeks of experimentation, she felt like she was loosing her mind. Less believable but has an end game

This book was more typical of what I expect of an alien romance. The aliens were pretty humanoid with a few insignificant changes, large size being one of them. Overall anatomy and plumbing worked pretty similarly.

Whereas the first book in the series didn’t really have any particular direction, the heroine of this book had a mission: find her sister. That kept the book moving toward the end.

As far as the writing style, I thought this author was a bit less eloq
Reverse Harem MMFMM

The first two books in the Valos of Sonhadra series involve two sisters, Preta and Charlie Sol. Book 1 is primarily about Preta and what happens to her after she is arrested on Earth and sent to a prison ship orbiting the planet. Book 2 is primarily about Charlie (Charlene) and her adventures on the planet Sonhadra.

I gave an extra star to this book because the flow of reading was better to me, the smex scenes were hotter and had less conversation. It just seemed like a more ex

These books! I cannot resist the pull of the valos of Sonhadra!!
I was thrilled that “Alluvial” and “Tempest” were stories about two sisters, why they were on the prison ship, their experiences and how, once separated, they worked to find each other. The authors did an admirable job of writing cohesive stories that created a greater whole. In “Tempest,” we see Charlie planning her sister Petra’s rescue from prison. She is unprepared for the reality of the situation, and thankfully, they crash on

I thought Preta's dragons were hot then I met Charlie's "mermen" and dang! I love how we learn about the valos history and find out about the other pods of the Concord. What crazy imagination do you have to have to imagine the creatures on this world. Plus the jokes in this one - Grandpa? Pahahahahahaha! Now it's over and Charlie and her dudes are happy I need to know more about the others.

Poppy Rhys is honestly one of the first people to have gotten me addicted to alien science fiction genre. If you have read her Women of Dor Nye series, then you already know she does a great job of creating female leads who are not cut from the same cloth as other book heroines. If you've never read her books, now is the time to do so! In this book, Poppy Rhys has interesting magic wielding and *spoiler* Charlie, the main character, surprisingly gets gills from the experimentation done on her. A ...more
