Carter family owes Blayze Norman 10 million dollars. But the family business is going through some financial issues and as a result, they can't pay this huge sum of money...
So, Blayze comes up with this amazing plan to take over the Carter family business. And that is to force the eldest daughter, Caden Carter, into marrying him.
And thus, ladies and gentleman, we have got a billionaire romance with an arranged marriage trope on our hands!
Now all of that sounds interesting and all... But unfortunately, none of it worked out for me.
The first thing that irked me was the writing style. It simply wasn't my cup of tea. It was repetitive, full of odd phrases and felt like a rushed draft, specially the first few chapters.
A lot of telling and very little showing. The POV changes were abrupt and sudden.
The transition from one scene to another is very poorly written. For example there was a scene where Caden was riding a horse and then suddenly, in the next paragraph, she was in the kitchen...
It just didn't work.
Next up, the characters...
BLAYZE 'idk-what-respect-means' NORMAN
The Male Lead, Blayze is a bitch and borderline incompetent for his job!
What type of a CEO agrees to a marriage this easily???
The girl can have a lover or something! He doesn’t know anything about her…not even her name and still insists on marrying her??? Wtf!
Listen, if this story was a dark, shady mafia romance or something, then I guess, it would have been somewhat acceptable… but the book is clearly not about that… then …just… oh my god... I can't...
He has absolutely no respect for women! And doesn't know about personal space!
He just randomly shows up, grabs the MC's hands and then pushes her inside his car against her will! Excuse me? This is harrasment!
How t f did this guy became a CEO? Oh right, he didn't earn it, was gifted to him on a silver platter...
He is described as this sexy AF man... and blah blah... But trust me, he is far from that!
He's a piece of rotten shit from top to bottom - a massive red flag!
He treats the mc as a servant, he wont let her work so he pulls strings to shut down her work place, tells her to shut up every time, complains that the mc is not ladylike when he is the one who forced her to marry him! gets jealous when the mc talks to other man, threatens the mc only becuz she touched his arm, stares at the mc while she sleeps..., hires security guards so the mc can't leave the house... Like what dude, chill!
Towards the end of the book, the author tried to show us that he had a rough childhood... But that was like only 2 chapters!
Throughout the whole book, he stays literally the same! An utter asshole!
CADEN 'not-like-other-girls' CARTER
She's just your typical wattpad girl. No depth, no dimension, plain ass annoying!
She is being forced to marry this random ass dude! It's an easy guess that she should be in a big mental turmoil or something... but no! One encounter with the sexy AF Blayze and she's suddenly ready for everything!
She looses all her composures when he leans closer to her face and whispers things...
Suddenly, she's in love with him! Even tho she has no fucking reason to!
Oh, did I say that she has some sort of super power? Apparently, she can tell if a man is good or bad based on how good of a kisser he is! And with this power, she finds out that ML has a "heart full of human emotions" too...
Seriously girl?
OTHER CHARACTERS
Wait, there were other characters too?
Totally didn't notice them LOL! That's how boring the were! Any male character introduced in the story was only to make Blayze jealous.
There was a Leslie something - Blayze's ex. And just like all other ex-grilfriends/boyfriends of wattpad, her actions didn't make any fucking sense!
THE STORY
Girl and boy gets married.
Girl and boy do silly things.
Boy's ex shows up, girl gets jealous.
Girl's ex shows up, boy gets jealous.
Boy's ex tries to kill girl and fails.
Boy and girl live happily ever after.
That's basically the whole 60 chapter story summed up in 6 sentences.
If you wanna read, go on!
It may work out for you! But it surely didn't for me.
