Halloween is right around the corner and Harper Harlow should be at her happiest. She's officially moving in with her boyfriend Jared Monroe, after all, and into a house that's right across the street so she won't be separated from her best friend. All should be well - and it is - until one of Harper's customers stumbles across a dead body in the cemetery during a tour one night. The woman, a local who worked at the bank, was last seen at a rather infamous party and her movements before and after that are murky. She has ties to a lot of people, and not all of them are upstanding citizens. Even though she's tired due to the busy season, Harper is determined to get answers. Jared would prefer her taking a break from her investigative activities but turning her back on a soul in need isn't in Harper's nature. She's determined to find the truth and Jared promises to keep her safe while she does it. Whisper Cove is hopping place right now and suspects are around every corner. Harper will have to dig deep if she wants answers … and constantly look over her shoulder to make sure death hasn't picked out another customer. When the truth comes out, Harper will learn a hard lesson about life and death. Not everything is as it appears, you see, and sometimes a sad truth is worse than a convenient lie.
Another enjoyable book in the series. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because there was less of a plot and more of just excessive drama between the characters. Zander, I find, is starting to get repetitive and irritating. It's time for him to start maturing into an adult, instead of a one dimensional character.
A Halloween Spectacular starring Zander and the mystery of the pink kitchen!!!! will he or won't he get his way? lol yes you guessed it Zander is at his very best terrorising, well everyone really but mostly Jarred and Harper which is basically normal but he seems to be stepping it up a notch the closer it get's to moving day, yes the dreaded day of permanent change Zander is so totally ok with.
Besides Zander's antics and Halloween being right around the corner work is busy as usual this time of year for Harper and Zander and is about to get busier when they discover a dead body in a cemetery and I know that's were dead bodies should be but this one wasn't buried so you know it was a bit unusual and then there was the story uncovered regarding the body it was confusing, baffling and a bit strange but all came together in the end.
I love Harper, Jared, Zander and Shawn a lot I was surprised there was not a single reference to their group trip recently where they met Ivy and Jack but apart from that it was awesome.
Lily Harper hart undoubtedly knows how to write the world's most annoying characters. I think the exchanges between these characters are supposed to be banter but when they literally have the same exchange with just a few changed up words for the 10th time then it just becomes irritating. Annoying characters aside, I mostly enjoyed this read. The mystery mostly made sense...I think, and it was a still a fun quick read. This book is probably not my favourite instalment but I am enjoying this series more that the author's other ones.
Enjoyable as always! The mystery was intriguing and I liked the little twist at the end. I always like Harper and Jared and look forward to seeing how things go when they move in together. I also liked that we saw a bit of Molly and Eric in this one. I enjoy Shawn and Zander, but Zander did annoy me at times in this one. Looking forward to book 10!
.. causes trouble for Harper and Zander who are working flat out doing guided ghost walks round Whisper Coves cemetery.
With a mixed bag of patrons on the tour Harper's feeling the pressure.. it's not just Colin who's totally smitten and determined to win Harper's heart despite being several years younger than her, it's Gary who's questioning the existence of everything paranormal, then there's the regular ghosts themselves especially Randy who seems to have a complex and need to be reassured that he's scary while he pelts the tour with graveside tributes!! Zander's not exactly helping matters by sulking because Harper and Jared have vetoed his plans to paint their kitchen pink.. well it would be a cliché if he painted his own kitchen pink and he can't have that!!
The unbelieving Gary trips over the body at the end of the tour, Maggie was a bank teller a couple of years younger than Harper and Zander. She was determined to bag a rich man and Harper finds Maggie hard to get along with.
Jared and Mel have some work to do tracking down her last movements and working out what exactly she was up to. As the plot thickens though it will be Harper's unique skills and Zander's thick skull that help to catch a killer..
This is a fun and entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series. If I can cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Harper Harlow is a young woman who lives in Michigan and has the ability to see and speak to ghost. Along with her best friend since kindergarten Xander they run a company called ghost hunters Inc. They find ghost and help them crossover. They clear peoples homes businesses and buildings of feisty ghost and other paranormal activity. Harper‘s boyfriend Jared is a local police detective who is partnered with Xander‘s uncle and Xander’s boyfriend lives with him in a house that him and Harper currently own. Harper seems to always find trouble when dealing with some of her ghosts either by getting involved in a crime it was committed by someone who killed the person and became a ghost. Or in some cases by finding a ghost from a crime in a past time done by someone else. One way or the other she finds out what happens in helps and cross over and sometimes it gets into a crazy adventure along with Xander and other friends while doing it. Entertaining any fun read. Check it out
The ninth book of the series was much better than the last. The only reason I had to give it a 3* instead of 4* is because the backstory of the murder victim was already used. A young girl who is materialistic and searching for a rich man- doesn't care about age, marital status, or looks.
You used this already... why did you do it again? The only difference is that the killer wasn't a former lover or jealous frenemy.
I did appreciate how the author tried to divert attention to make the culprit more of a mystery. It was a good try, but it was still fairly obvious. HOWEVER, the twist about the murderer was great. Kudos on that. I hope we hear more on this in the next book.
This ghostly series keeps getting better and better!
I would gladly give this addition to the series a 10 star rating if I could. There is so much to love about this series --- the characters, the ghosts, the story line. Once I start getting into the book I pretty much don't put it down until I'm done. Zander is my favorite character because he's such a diva. The only thing I would like to see more of is ghosts. Just not enough of the ghosts and Harper helping and dealing with them. Otherwise I absolutely love this series.
Really enjoyed this book. The characters continue to grow and Jared proves time and again why he's the perfect book boyfriend. In this latest installment, Harper and Zander stumble across a dead body during one of their ghost tours. There are plenty type of ghosts in this book, crazy get rich quick plans and too many leads to follow. As per usual, the ghost remembers to late to actually help the police or Harper. Harper and Jared are making plans to get moved into their new house as well. I definitely recommend this zany adventure.
This was quite chilling, yet there was plenty of laughter & sweetness! I love the snappy dialogue & paranormal twist. Harper is such a caring character. She has a great support system with BFF Zander & his boyfriend Shawn, & of course with soon to be live-in love Jared. I could not put this book down & never figured out the killer until he was unmasked. Can’t wait to see what Harper & Company get into next.
Zander was a bit too much for me in this one. I've really enjoyed all the others up until the point, but I struggled with this book. Zander got on my nerves, very early on I'd guessed the murderer, and I wasn't really sure about the side stories. I like it when Jason appears, as well as whenever Mel is involed, but the slightly focus on Mollly and Eric didn't please me as much as normal. Overally, not my favourite but I'll still read the next one.
I love following Harper and Zander. They are fun and funny. Now that they each have a boyfriend, it is a pleasure to see how they all interact. Shawn is the quiet one though. I am guessing he has hidden depths. And of-course the storyline had another good mystery. This was an enjoyable read.
I love this series! The characters remain consistently true to their quirky personalities and every book moves forward realistically and in a timely manner. It's a series that makes the characters so fun that you want to be a part of their group. Plus, you don't have to wait forever for the next book in the series to be published. How can you not love that?
I really like this series. The writing is good the editing is as well. I love the secondary characters more than the main ones. These are fun fast reads and this book is a bit less meaty than the others . There’s more concentration on petty issues which seems more filler to me than in the other books in the series.
This was another winner. I highly recommend all her books and different series. Lilly writes wonderful paranormal mysteries. Also has wonderful characters in every book. I have read close to 100 of her books and loved every one of them. Once you start a book you cannot put it down. Diana Romano
Book 9 finds Harper and Zander doing their graveyard tours prior to Halloween and, of course, there is a dead body involved. And Harper and Jared have purchased a house together. There is humor, tons of angst, murder, mystery, a little danger, and tons of love all around. Highly entertaining.
I always love the books in this series and it's one of my favorites. Harper and Jared are moving right along in the relationship and Zander is as funny and annoying as ever. The murder mystery was good and completely unpredictable.
Murder at a cemetary and plans for their new house
A dead body is discovered near the end of one of their haunted cemetery tours. Meanwhile, plans continue for Harper and Jared's new house, and whether the kitchen should be pink (Zander's idea). LOL moments.
I did not see that ending coming. I really enjoyed the story and how things turned out. And surprisingly, I want to smack Zander hard upside his head. Lol. Ok, on to book 10.
a fun entertaing read, Zanders and Harpers banter is getting a bit annoying but I do love the rest of the book.. the whole series keeps me interested enough to keep going and read them all. And I recently discovered that Lily Harper Heart has some cross over books of Harper with other series she writes and now Im definitly interested in checking those out as well
Halloween is close and that means things for Harper are ramping up. When a guest stumbles over a dead body while doing a cemetery tour, Harper is once again thrown in the middle of a murder. Awesome read! Enjoy!!!
What a fun read! This series is just pure fun. The writing flows well. No having to reread sentence, because they don’t flow well to the next sentence. There is humor, ghosts, mystery and a Killer. This a good COVID-19 escape. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I'm ready for Harper to act her age, not have every man in the book fall in love with her and a lot more maturity for all involved Jared needs to grow a backbone with Harper and can she please stop being spoiled by everyone. Enough.
Another really fun read of Harper Harlow cozy mystery book. I just really enjoy the laughter and fun of all of the main 4 characters. Also enjoy the mystery in each book.
This was yet another good book in the series. Every time Jared & Mel interviewed someone, I just knew they'd found the killer. They actually never found the killer. The killer found them, and it was someone I never suspected. Loved the suspense.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Lovable characters and a touch of magic. Harper has always been able to see and talk to ghosts. While Harper and Xander are giving a cemetery tour, a body is found. No cliffhanger and good series.
Enjoyable paranormal series. The killer surprised me in this one. Not sure why Zander is obsessed with Harper having a pink kitchen but needs to let it go. Looking forward to what happens when they finally separate the households.
This is my least favorite in the series so far. The murder victim was more interested in finding a man with money, not love, and this idea was used in a previous book. Also, I was so tired of Zander going on & on & on about wanting Harper & Jared to paint their kitchen pink, l almost DNF.
