Loving Grace was such a sweet YA story. I loved the characters and how the story revolved around watermelons (she was the Watermelon Queen). I was surprised by how gripping the story was and I really grew to care about what happened with Grace.

I loved the romance between Grace and a certain guy, but I didn't like the love triangle. ;) I knew who she should end up with nearly right away and did not like the other guy at all.

All in all, Loving Grace was a great read. I really enjoyed reading it a

Wow, all I can say is, this story gave me the feels all over! Keep the tissues close by as you are reading LOVING GRACE by April Smith. She will have your emotions all over the place. Once I started reading, it was very hard to stop! The twists and turns made it impossible to put down, as I had to know what was going to happen to Grace after so much family heartache! What an awesome story. All of April's characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one he

This was a super cute and sweet story (no pun intended) about a girl named Grace who becomes the Watermelon Queen. Grace is dealing with a lot of difficult things in her life and finds herself caught between two boys…one who she finds super dreamy and the other who drives her crazy.

Under the surface of the fun and cute scenes of watermelon pageants and banquets is a plot with depth and drama. The character of Grace was lovely and the way she handled her grief was very realistic. There were momen

Loving Grace has left me with some seriously mixed feelings. I love that it's clean Christian YA romance, so it's safe for everyone to read and is a great alternative to much of the highly sexualized offerings in the YA genre. The setting—on a watermelon farm and the watermelon beauty queen circuit—is unique and fun, and I loved the interaction between Grace and the Baron family. Author April Smith obviously knew what she was talking about regarding watermelon queens, and that entire aspect of t ...more

After a tragedy in her young life, Grace Summer is ready to leave her melon-choly behind her. With a push from her friends (who happen to be her bosses), she becomes the region’s watermelon queen.

The travel and clothes are a few perks, and the padding to her college savings doesn't hurt, but spending time with Beau Baron as her chaperone is making her mad enough to spit seeds. He always seems to be interrupting her precious time with Warren Hartley.

Grace is a likable character. Her youth makes h

A sweet YA contemporary story with a little bit of romance and a whole lot of watermelon, Loving Grace by April Smith is a delightful summer-y read.

When Grace Summer becomes the Watermelon Queen, the readers get a peek behind the scenes of the watermelon industry. With traveling and promoting, plus marketing a new product, Grace’s role is one to take seriously. Her passion for the industry is endearing, and it’s fun to follow her summer experience with the Barons, her sponsors and friends.

Loving Grace by April Smith is a "melon load" of sweet! So stinking cute!

Seriously, if you're looking for a sweet read, then Loving Grace should be added to you TBR, like, now. The story flows, reading easy and fast. While it may seem to scream "SUMMER READ," I think it's perfect for any season. Spring... Summer... Autumn... When you wish Summer was here (#goawaywinter)... I also found the watermelon farm and pageant to be a fun, fresh setting! I actually felt like learned some stuff, too. No j

Loving Grace by April Smith is a fun summer read with heartwarming themes of hope, young love, and “letting go, and letting God.”

After going through a horrific tragedy, Grace Summers has withdrawn from life and is only just beginning to live “normally” again. When her employers offer to sponsor her to compete for “Midwest Watermelon Queen,” at first, Grace is hesitant (particularly since it would involve spending way too much time with their incredibly annoying son), but eventually decides to t
This was a cute story about romance and watermelons with a serious element as Grace was grieving and having a hard time dealing with it. There was a fun love/hate relationship with the boy next door story line and also a secondary romance happening between his brother and another girl, which was also amusing. I liked the strong faith element as prayer was important to Grace; I especially liked how she turned to God when she was feeling heartbroken toward the beginning of the story. It seemed lik ...more

The main character, Grace is still grieving over the loss of her immediate family. She lives with her grandpa and works for the Barons, who are lifelong friends of the family, at Melon Ridge Farms. Pamela Baron, the mother of two boys and a former Watermelon Queen herself, offers to sponsor Grace in the Watermelon pageant. Knowing from experience the whirlwind adventure, travel, and financial benefits that comes with being chosen as Watermelon Queen, Mrs Baron doesn't take no for an answer. As W ...more

I thought Loving Grace was a sweet Christian YA novel and I enjoyed the plot line and interactions between the characters, especially the boys : Beau and Bennett. The author brought Christian aspects into this book without it being overbearing or taking over the entire plot of the book. The writing was well organized and well thought out. I honestly had no idea that there were such things as Watermelon Queens or pageants in the farming world. The only thing that truly bugged me about this book w ...more

Watermelons, beauty pageants, young hearts caught in a first love… April Smith ties it all together in Loving Grace, a novel from Ambassador International. Grace Summer is the protagonist appointed as a “Watermelon Queen”, which is part beauty contest winner and part watermelon product promoter. Loving Grace by April Smith

Loving Grace brings together all the best elements of a country summer. The cover fits the story so perfectly! It was very interesting to get a glimpse of the many aspects a melon grower’s life, including the various regional and national watermelon associations. I had never thought about these things before.

I have now read enough about pageants to now know that they are only partly about appearance. That was brought home so much more in this book than any others that

I enjoyed reading Loving Grace. It was easy to read and I learned about the watermelon industry, which was interesting.
Grace is a slightly flawed rising high school senior who works for a neighboring watermelon farm. The Baron family that owns the farm are old family friends. Grace has suffered tragedy in her young life and relies on the support of her grandfather and the Baron's to help her through. She is like a daughter to Mrs. Baron, but one of the Baron sons does not view Grace as a sister

How refreshing to read a wholesome, enlightening, and adorable YA book without delving into a sinful and corrupt plot. Loving Grace, by April Smith, deals with credible issues that young people face within Christian morals and upbringings.

Grace Summer faces normal teenage challenges, such as passion, romance, and allowing her truth—and the truth God chooses for her—to come to the surface. She reveals her heart and personality through a young, Christian viewpoint, and faces the trials of growing

April Smith's debut Loving Grace is a sweet YA romance. I enjoyed how the novel centered around the watermelon world. It made me long for a nice slice of watermelon.

The story line was a quick and fun read. Ms. Smith creates great tension full of twists and turns that you don't see coming and keep you reading.

All of the characters were well developed which made you care about them and what happened to them.

What a delightful read! I had no idea there was this whole Watermelon culture out there. April Smith brings us a delightful story that is not only for young adults. Her characters are loveable, sometimes you want to smack them (one character in particular) but mostly, what stood out to me the most was the relationship between Grace and Beau as it grows and changes was really special. There was one scene that had me roaring with laughter, (photo shoot scene) and then there were scenes that had me ...more

Loving Grace is an Young Adult novel that echoes the novels of the 80's and early 90's.

Written from a teenager's point of view, we see the ups and downs, the angst, and the indecisions that only come with those teenage years.

Although slow and slightly choppy in the beginning, the writing and storyline evened out and flowed extremely well. With Loving Grace the reader is immersed into the world of the Watermelon pageants and watermelon farms, complete with the expectations and responsibilities of

This book was adorable! I loved it! Was it predictable at times? Yes. Did I love the "Love Triangle? Not really. Was the book still adorable? Yes!!!

The main character, Grace Summer, was a breath of fresh air. I totally knew who she would eventually end up with but I loved the journey getting there. The whole Watermelon concept had me craving watermelons the whole time I read this book. I've been snacking on them most days since reading this gem.

Loving Grace: A Novel by April Smith is a sweet and sentimental love story about a girl, Grace Summer, who is torn between two boys: Beau Baron and Warren Hartley. It is a fun, breezy read, allowing you to escape into Grace’s world and follow the young woman’s journey. Grace faces trials, but she relies on her faith during the tough times. The book is wonderfully grounded in strong moral values, and the choices Grace must make provide good lessons for Smith’s readers. All in all, Loving Grace is ...more

Loving grace is a novel geared toward young adults with real issues that young adults could face today . I am grateful that there is content for our young adults to read with a Christian perspective .

This book touches on emotions, dealing with identity, love, grief, patience and character . what I love about it the most is no matter the circumstances the characters in the novel were faced with they continued to press forward and did not allow their present situation to hold them back.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adorable story about Grace! She is a sweet character to get to know, and I thought it was fun to learn more about the watermelon industry and also some of the work that goes into being a watermelon queen and promoting the industry. This is the perfect summer story to pick up, with it's sweet romance. I highly recommend this one!

Fun read! This is not a genre I generally read much in, but was recommended by a friend so I gave it a shot. I am glad I did.
The characters are interesting to the point that I want to read more about the lives of the other Queens.
I liked that the fact that it is “Christian” is a seamless part of the story and not something that feels fake or forced.
