“The Light or The Dark?”

I am an avid fan of horror genera, movies, books, you name it I love it. I saw this cover and I was determined to read it soon! I decided to make it a vacation read, and read it in the dark while camping last night and boy did it give me the jumpy creeps all through the night. This was such a great read that it stuck with me well after I read it and I love that in a novel, especially dark and twisty ones. I had gone into this with the hopes of getting a little scare but j

I do NOT watch scary movies because I get really worked up and sucked into their sordid plots. But it's weird because I truly do enjoy the experience of being scared to death by words-on-paper. So, scary books? Yes. Always. Bring them on.

But, The Jilted? Lord. I didn't know what I was in for when I started this. I thought it was going to be some intense historical fiction but it ended up taking me on a ride that was so much deeper than that. Kinda horror? Kinda mystery? Kinda sci-fi maybe?? I'm

Man I don't know what's worse, knowing how this ends or loving how this ends. This author weaves such a twisted mindf$uck of a story that you can't possibly guess what's going on until you're told. The things the mind can convince you of. The twisted thinkings of a lost soul. The lies we tell ourselves about situations and incidents. What's really real and what's just in your heads. The battle between good and evil is something we will war against til the end of days. The individual battles will ...more

Ok, this is definitely not what I was expecting! It was so much more! Better than I could ever have anticipated! The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn is a brilliant paranormal story- full of suspense, drama, darkness, emotion, intensity, good vs evil, supernatural themes, and some elements of horror. I admit there were times I had my hands over my eyes- reading through the spaces between my fingers. I was on the edge of my seat, just about ready to jump out of my skin, wondering why I was still r

I give The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O'Flynn, 4 stars.

Chloe thought her fiance was losing his mind, talking about demons. But ever since he disappeared, she can no longer be sure. She has been experiencing things that question everything she has ever known. Not to mention it seems that there really are evil things out there. Can she stop whatever is going on? And what price does she have to pay?

This is one of those books that messes with your mind, and does such a superb job at it. You will be s

The Jilted is a mind blowing horror story by Meghan O’Flynn. It is a supernatural story and it scared the pants off me! I generally do not read horror as I cannot handle it too well (too faint hearted I guess) but reading that she writes in the style of Stephen King, I decided to give a go and man … the story blew my mind!
The main character of the story is Chloe and we follow her on her journey into the nightmare and I am telling you, the ending throws you for a loop! The nightmare is filled wit

I have to admit I am not one for scary films, I usually dream about them for days afterwards and that why I usually shy away from books that I know will get under my skin but I read the blurb for this book and thought I would give it a go – I am so glad that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed being scared by the words that I was reading. Megan O'Flynn has another winner with The Jilted. I had a hard time putting it down even when I was exhausted, and then her expertly described characters inhabited my dreams. This novel combines historical past and present day fiction of the Louisiana plantation era with the supernatural theme of demonic possession. O'Flynn's attention to detail enables you to "see" the characters and settings so vividly that you're thrust into the action. The plot will enthrall you as you try to anticipate what ...more

Four Stars

I was not expecting this story to be this good. I don’t usually do horror so getting into this book was an experience. The author has you hooked from the beginning. The details are spot on and just wow. He left to protect her but it destroyed her instead. Why is New Orleans the city of horror? The author had chills going up and down my spine. I don’t know what I would do if I start to hear a voices beckoning me. The demonic moments were too much but the rest

One mans journey to rid the place of evil!

This book contains gore, sex, relationships, spiritual components, moral issues, social issues, historical settings, and the fight against evil. There are so many layers to this book, it is hard to guess what is coming next. There are surprises at every turn. It is entertaining but also makes you think. If books were vegetables, this is surely a very large onion. I have never read a book like this, so vivid in detail, and so many different stories happen

The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O'Flynn is a haunting tale set in New Orleans. The story is haunting and kept me reading to find out what was going on. The main character Chloe has people who have gone missing in her life. Is it something temporary or is something more sinister at play? There is a great atmosphere in the city and a plantation that guides the story and helps to form the characters. Have you ever cracked the binding of a book based only on the title and expected something completely different than what is actually written? That's what happened to me with THE JILTED.

This is a classic haunted story set in modern times with a heavy presence from the past. The beginning was a bit confusing with the introduction of the major players. Only a few pages in and I turned on my night light.

This story reminded me of Stephen King's earlier books. Scary and edgy with a story that holds i

Welcome to the world of Meg O'Flynn. This book is a change of pace, of sorts, from O'Flynn's other writing - The Ash Park Novels. Long-time readers of O'Flynn can expect the same from Jilted, as they have received from their trips through Ash Park. The same heart-stopping twists and turns, answers to your burning questions hiding in plain sight, yet you can't see them because O'Flynn once again writes in such a way that makes you question everything. In short...brilliance. And this time, she tak ...more
