Wow! Sylvie Stewart’s debut novel is a winner. This is a funny, and quirky romantic comedy, just right for a lazy afternoon at the pool or sunning at the beach. This is a truly down-to-Earth kind of romance, and I am glad I had an opportunity to read it. Thanks to the author for an ARC.

Laney’s life is not what she imagined. Her life took a detour after she was faced with the consequences of a one-night stand her first year of college. The result was an eighteen-year commitment, named Rocco. Alth

The Fix was an enjoyable story and the first I read from Sylvie. I think we all need some of those once in a while.
What I liked about is that is very real, in spite of being a fiction story, we have all been on that side of the spectrum when life has thrown us of balance and we have to juggle and deal with the challenges of life.
Laney is such a beautiful girl who is just, to the best of her abilities, dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a single mum at the young age of 25, her son

This fiction, The Fix by Sylvie Stewart, is a perfect combination of humor and romance. As a result of a one-night stand, Laney becomes pregnant even before finishing her college. Her parents support her as long as she is ready to stand on her feet again. She completes her college, gets a job and moves out to a new house. Her brother, Gavin, stays with her and helps in raising her child, Rocco. He is a carefree fellow, who finally lands a job in a construction company. His boss, Nate Murphy, did ...more

Superficial, all fluff, no depth. No angst, which can be fine, but this didn't have the characters development to go with it. I think it could be chalked up to weak writing mostly.

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart

5 stars!

The Fix is the first book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This is the author’s debut novel and what a debut it is! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I did read the second book in this series prior to this one but I knew as soon as I finished it that I needed to go back and read book 1 - I knew I was in for a fantastic read! The author has a fantastic writing style and her storylines are great. She combines humour with real life proble

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart – Carolina Connections Book 1

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart is a great read. I read it in one sitting so curl up with a drink and enjoy.

Laney is a single mom who has just bought her own place after her parents decide to move away. She lives with her son Rocco who has some very strange habits and is a bit of a loner and her brother Gavin who is a bit of a freeloader following a prank that went wrong and ended his career.

Laney’s desperately trying to find a friend for Rocco fo

"The Fix" is a witty, fun read that I would recommend to any adult who enjoys steamy romance books and a good story. This is the first romance book I've ever read, and I loved it. The author's unexpectedly honest humor made me laugh out loud while reading, which I usually never do. As a mother of three, I found this honesty refreshing and hilarious. I also liked that the story was as much about a mother and her son as it was about romance. Sylvie's writing style is professional, original, and li ...more

This was the first book that I read by this author and I totally enjoyed it. While this book is the start of a new series, each book is a standalone (which I like).

Laney is a single mom of a precocious five-year-old little boy, stressed out that all of his companions have been adults and that she is totally screwing up her role as a mother.

Nate has come home to take up his family's company reins after his father had a health crisis.

When Laney meets Nate at the end of her street where his compa

This was a good little story. At least, it felt like a little story, as it was so easy to read. It is, however, a full length novel.

Dotted with humour throughout, this book touches on issues facing single parents, but does so in a light and enjoyable way. The narrative was, I felt, well paced and the characters well described and realistic.

Although occasionally the plot seemed to me to appear a little convenient, it was, nevertheless, a thoroughly entertaining, drama/tension free read.

Awesome book!

I completely enjoyed this book. The characters and story were great. I don't laugh out loud very often while reading but did just that, so many times. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone looking for a little drama, a little romance and a HEA!

This was my first book by Sylvie & wont be my last.

You have to love when the hero (Nate) makes an ass of himself when they first meet & happens to be Heroine's (Laney) brothers boss. The connection was there from the start & seeing them pulled towards each other was beautiful to read.

If you love Bad first impressions, single mum & hot alpha then pick this one up.

Not a lot of substance in this story but it’s good when you want entertainment, nothing too dark, aka a no-brainer. The banter between the characters was engaging and I loved the sibling dynamics and the 5-year-old kid!

This took me a couple days to read, but overall, it was a great debut novel.

I love the relationships set between these to characters. Annoying siblings, nosy friends, and stubborn/pestering parents is something pretty much anyone can relate to.

I know I can 🙋

The fact that Nate doesn't try to "run for the hills" when he realizes Laney has a son is also a plus. Not that I relate, you just don't here about that too often in the real world. These to definitely balance each other out, in their own wa

The Fix (Carolina Connections) by Sylive Stewart is the first book in the Carolina Connections series. This book is humor and romance. This story is about learning to survive on your own two feet and still having the support of family when you need it. The Fix:A Carolina Connections Novel by Sylvia Stewart Rated 4 stars

Laney was an enjoyable character to read. She has great values and a funny friend. Her conversations with Fiona were hilarious and also heartwarming. Fiona is the kind of friend to have she helps and expects nothing in return and she is always there for Laney. I also enjoyed the relationship between Laney and her brother, Gavin. I have to say I don't know many brothers who would step up and help her take care of Rocco the way he

AUTHOR: SYLVIE STEWART
FIVE STARS

THE FIX is the first book in Sylvie Stewarts new series “The Carolina Connections”. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone and they all end just the way I like – with a happily ever after. Sylvie is a fabulous romance writer and she adds her own splash of humor that makes the story fun and enjoyable. She is a new author for me and I am captivated by her style. The Fix by Sylvie Stewart a fantastic five-star read. This is the first book in the Carolina Connections series, and the first book by this author I have read, but I have already downloaded the next two books in the series, I loved it that hard!! Sylvie Stewart writes funny and lovable so well, I laughed so hard I thought I would pee my pants at some parts of the book, I adored the film references and there are so many lines I could quote from this book alone. Laney Monroe has finally moved out her parent’s house at the age of 25. Only it wasn’t that simple you see because Laney’s life has turned out not at all like she planned. For instance she did not plan on getting pregnant so soon or being a single mom. She also did not plan on working for a job that she finds boring or allowing her brother Gavin to move in with her. Laney buys a cute little house that she fell in love with but it has several things that need fixed. She figures that since her br ...more

Laney is a single mother with a 5-year-old son and a freeloading brother. Nate has just come home to North Carolina to take over the family construction business after his dad suffers a heart attack. They meet when Laney joins a neighborhood protest of a building that Nate's company is putting up. He's rude, she tells him off, and BAM! The foundation for the relationship is laid (no pun intended :))

Sylvie Stewart needs to write more books, like, yesterday. Though this is the first book in the "C

3,5 stars for this funny, cutesy story about single mom Laney and builder Nate. Laney lives with her 5 year old son and her brother and when she meets her brother's new boss sparks fly.

I enjoyed this story very much, even when it was nothing really special storywise. Just made me feel good.

I definitely enjoyed book one in the Caroline Connections series. Laney and Nate are such a cute couple, and to top it off he’s amazing with her son, Rocco. She’s a single mom who ends up meeting Nate, a construction worker during a protest about the new building being built in Laney’s neighborhood. I chuckled quite often during the book. Laney has such a unique personality. This Author sure knows how to grasp your interest. I’m looking forward to reading about Fiona in book two.

I am a huge fan of Sylvie! I love books that make me laugh :) loads of sarcasm and wit. The profanity and smut are also extremely important and her books come with loads! I read book 2 first and wanted to read more about Laney. I can relate to Laney and really enjoyed this book! Can't wait for #3!

USA Today bestselling author Sylvie Stewart is addicted to Romantic Comedy and Contemporary Romance, and she’s not looking for a cure. She hails from the great state of North Carolina, so it’s no surprise that most of her books are set in the Tar Heel state. She’s a wife to a hilarious dude and mommy to ten-year-old twin boys who tend to take after their father in every way. Sylvie often wonders i ...more
