I have read Frankie Love before. It was a quick read with the main theme of Alpha Mountain Men who are captured in an instant by the sight of a woman who calls to them. They can be singularly focused and over the top...as that is the appeal of these books. When this book was offered for free, I figured it would be similar to the other one I read and decided to accept the "fantasy" of this type.

I have read Frankie Love before. It was a quick read with the main theme of Alpha Mountain Men who are captured in an instant by the sight of a woman who calls to them. They can be singularly focused and over the top...as that is the appeal of these books. When this book was offered for free, I figured it would be similar to the other one I read and decided to accept the "fantasy" of this type.

Well, surprise surprise...Manhattan Mountain had so much more going for it then what I thought I was going to get. This had the required "Mountain Man" but this had more depth and story to go with it.

Our Mountain Man, Ford, is a metal artist. He lives in the Colorado Rockies and had been asked to do an installation of original work for Central Park. It turns out Ford saved the NYC Mayor's son when he was in danger on a mountain hike. Once that happened, the mayor looked into the man who saved his son and saw what an accomplished artist he was...So here Ford was in the "concrete jungle" checking into a boutique hotel for the time he would be creating this work. Ford is checking in and the woman behind the desk strikes him. She is friendly, beautiful, charming, and isn't shy when he starts to flirt a bit.

Ford was surprised he even felt like flirting with her as he had been emotionally dead for a few years now. He was up on his mountain away from everyone for a reason. He had not been able to save someone who meant the world to him. Saving the mayor's son was a necessity, he couldn't allow another boy not to be saved. Ford is intrigued with this woman and as luck would have it, she seemed a bit interested too.

Mia has had her hands full...full trying to manage her brother and sister after their mother died a year ago. It was a shock as the heart-attack happened out of the blue. Mia was in college but left immediately when she got the call. At 22, she became the guardian of her 10-year-old brother and 16-year-old sister. The mother had been the concierge and they all lived there in the hotel. When her mother passed, Mia took over the position. All was an adjustment, but they were holding it all together.

But now things are becoming more complicated. The longtime owner of this hotel finally took the plunged and sold it to a developer. This means Mia not only needs to find another job but also a place for the little family to live. In New York City, those are two huge endeavors to accomplish. She has a limited period of time and it is all Mia can think about.

With all of this pressure, her boss wants her to take a break and have a little fun. When Ford checks in, the boss comes out from his office and delivers the tux Ford needs for the gala tonight with the mayor. He wants to go to this like he needs a hold in his head and in order to make attending it bearable, he asks Mia to attend with him. The boss pushes for her to go...so Ford gets what he wants... Mia.

From this introduction, we can sense these two have more happening than they ever expected. The interest and chemistry between them took off...yet at the same time as hot as it was... there was also a sweet caring. It surprises both of them. Mia feels she has no time for any type of relationship. Ford knows he can't have any relationship...the pain would be too much when it goes bad.

But... they both are so drawn to each other for so many reasons outside of the lust they feel...There is more there...

This was a lovely surprise. The book had more depth and heart then I expected and it worked on many levels. I read it, enjoyed many moments, and thought Franke Love expanded her style.

Certain authors appear as suggestions for me quite often, and I’ve recently found myself trying to dive into said authors. Frankie Love is one such author. A few of Frankie Love’s mountain men stories have been mildly interesting to me, but Mountain Manhattan is my first-time diving into a Frankie Love story – while it was enjoyable, I wasn’t crazy about it.

🤩🤩🤩🤩 delightful stars! I was hooked from the beginning and couldnt wait to see how it all turned out. The story was hot and exciting with the perfect amount of romance in it. The characters had wonderful personalities and amazing chemistry. If you are looking for something adorably swoony, fun, steamy, and a little bit filthy, look no further. I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Mia and Ford was a well written novel. Mia work at the front desk in a hotel. Ford is an artist that lives in the mountains but comes to New York city for work. They met at the hotel where Mia works. This was a must must book.

Mia has no room in her life for romance or a fling but Ford makes her resistance futile. Mia is slowly being buried under the weight of all her responsibility. I admire her strength, love, and commitment to her family. She's doing a great job but the stress gets to her and causes her to become rather emotionally unstable at times. Totally understandable, of course. The way she is when she first meets Ford gives us a glimpse of who she is inside, the part of her that's stifled by life's circumstances. She's strong, sassy, fun, funny, and confident. But when the light of day reveals everything on her plate, it's not as shiny as it was before. Ford is still mesmerized, awed even, at the amount of fortitude she has within her. As the story progresses I find that her character weakens under the strain of adding romantic love to the mix. Instead of using it as a strength, her immaturity due to her age becomes apparent and it takes Ford's tenacity and determination to remind her of the woman she could become.

Ford is intrigued from the get-go and it's no surprise why. While I found him arrogant and condescending in the beginning, it didn't take long for me to see the reality of who he is inside. His insides match Mia's quite well. Through his interactions with her he becomes reacquainted with his softer, tender side. The side that's been buried and smashed into submission by a staunch resolution to ignore it. His past dictates his actions with Mia and they're as annoying as they are understandable. It takes him a long time to truly open up to Mia. I'm not really a fan of how often he belittles their connection, Mia as a woman after he thinks his emotional revelations are being rejected, and the city he won't bring himself to understand except through Mia. I didn't appreciate his description of what they were doing as a way to tap into his muse and felt that wasn't given enough of a dismissal or acknowledgement of fallacy when his real feelings were made known. He was tender and then he'd get all butt-hurt and react poorly. Once I can understand, but two or three times? Not awesome. He does overcome that, though, and redeems himself in a big way with his grand gesture.

The proposal was pretty over the top, a bit cheesy, and a little unrealistic, but despite all that it was still romantic and heartfelt. It was, at its most basic parts, what Mia needed to both see and hear to convince her that life with Ford is where she's meant to be, no matter where that is. Their individual growth was the most important here and they didn't achieve it on their own. Only through the strength of the other person were they able to see what was missing and acknowledge what they needed to become the person they'd always wanted to be. The ending was sweet, tender, humorous, and triumphant for all of them. Mountain Manhattan was a mostly well-rounded story with difficult pasts and emotional blindness surrounded by a heaping amount of sexual chemistry and a happy ending. ...more

This was my first Frankie Love book. I really enjoyed reading about Ford and Mia and the way their relationship evolved.
Ford was a loner....an artist that lives in the mountains in Colorado. Mia is struggling after the loss of her mother and raising her brother and sister. Both Ford and Mia weren't looking for love. I was excited to read Mountain Manhattan after reading the blurb, the book exceeded those expectations I'd built from how good it sounded. This book is emotionally captivating and chemistry charged. The raw emotion kept me hooked from the very beginning, I felt for Ford and Mia and the situations they had been through, I was turning the page, hoping that would be the page where their luck would change. This book will give you all the feels and completely engage you from cover to cover.
I binge read this book in one sitting as I totally fell head over heels in love with Mia and Ford's journey.

First of all, I love this cover!

Ok anyways, Ford is a mountain man in a big city. He doesn't think he's gonna like anything about it, he likes living pretty secluded in his cabin. But Mia changes everything for him. She opens his eyes to possibilities, basically to living more of his life. And he does the same for her. Did I mention he's a bearded artist? Yeah. :)

This is the first book by Frankie Love that I have read and it was a nice easy read. Although I knew where the story was going, it just made me want to keep reading, as the characters and storylines drew me in.
