This was a highly entertaining and refreshing read.

"Lucky 7" is a fun, queer, action adventure story about a group of talented operatives that function as more than just their missions; they're a chosen family. Magdon did an excellent job of clever casting here, where every individual in the group is unique, developed, and a delight. The plot itself is a fresh action sci-fi with some superhero-like elements, humor, and a subplot romance that blends together in such a way where it feels more lik
Kudos to you, Ms.Magdon for writing an epic action / fantasy / Sci-Fi / thriller that had my foot on the gas pedal from the first page until the end and my heart beating like the Priests' in The Exorcist (1973 edition) Lucky 7 also featured lesbians, bisexual woman, trans woman, non binary and women of color - a bunch of kick-ass / badass / cursed worst than sailors characters and I couldn't choose a favorite. I wanted to be them and loved them all - it was a memorable joyride being one of the c ...more

“It’s cute that you wanna be gentle...but I want you to f#cking destroy me.” That in short is the essence of this tale. If you’re not grown, wait outside because Rae Magdon pens a fireball of a book that screams joy in its rawness.

Elena Nevares is an elite jacker on the run from evil AxysGen. Although she fears for her life, her drive to keep her younger brothers and grandmother safe fuels her into joining the outlaw crew of the legendary Wolf of the Kremlin. Sasha Young is a muscle sculpted go
This is by far my favorite Magdon to date. I’ve read her fantasy, romance, and mystery, but my god can she write one hell of a science fiction/dystopian story. ‘Lucky 7’ is pretty much non-stop action and it’s immersive. Magdon is really, really good at writing out an action sequence (several in a row, in fact) and making sure the reader feels every bit of it. I almost feel like I got my ass kicked today and all I did was sit in a chair to read this book...

I’m not getting into the storyline here

Well that was pretty fucking awesome. If you love sci fi/post apocalyptic stories with virtually non stop action AND incredibly diverse characters this is the book for you. And the sex scenes...GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY!...oy were they hot.

And now we have quickly arrived at my laziness. Do yourselves a favor and read lov2laf, vacatedboat and Corrie's review and you will find all the reasons to read this book. Now I must go and gobble up this author's other books.

My mind is totally blown by this book. Fantastic! It took me a little time to get into it but that's standard for me and alternate worlds but once I was in, I was swamped. This is one of those books where I had to stop myself reading because I swear it was giving me heart palpitations.

It's fast and wild and so well-described that I would have to shake my head to get back to reality.
I never imagined myself saying this but the angry sex scene (consensual) is phenomenal. The action and desire/roma
Wow! What an exciting read this was. Book Club Buddie D. and I were buckled in for a bumpy ride. I know that author Rae D. Magdon is a powerhouse who honed her sci-fi writing skills in many fan fic universes like Avatar: Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The 100, Mass Effect: Andromeda to name a few. She knows her stuff and it really shows!

It made reading Lucky 7 a wonderful experience. It was like watching a very well-choreographed sci-fi/cyberpunk adventure movie with a hefty dollop

4.5 Stars rounded up.

Lucky 7 by Rae D. Magdon is an intensely hot gender-bending cyberpunk adventure. The characters are probably one of the highlights of this novel. I’ve rarely seen such a diverse cast, especially with the leads. Lucky 7 is a fast-paced adventure that pulls you along for the ride.

The first half is written from Elena Navares’s viewpoint and the second half (after a revealed major secret) is written from Sasha’s view. I didn’t find it clunky or awkward before or after the switc

That was a fantastic, amazing and engaging read.

The cleverly written book, the world-building, the plot, the characters, the action and the interaction between the characters, I loved it all. And I had difficulties to put the book down. I stayed up all night just to finish it.
I hate and love when a book controls my schedule just because of how great it is.

The book had plenty of action from the moment our two protagonists met, so you definitely don't get bored. The romance was okay, bu

OK, seriously, this was so much fun! Not a moment is wasted in this book, it's full-on action, raw and intense at moments, funny at others, and there is a high sense of loyalty towards their chosen family.

A group of individuals, each with special skills and personalities, fight a world dominating corp. The group, lead by Sasha, lost its jacker and finds a new one in Elena. Elena and Sasha are at odds with each other, but they both need something of the other, so they’re stuck together and oh th

How long it took me to read this has zero to do with how much I enjoyed this book and everything to do with how little time/energy I have to read an actual full-length *sigh*.
The book is full of the wonderful diversity I expected from what little I know of Rae D. Magdon and the story was richer for it.
What I appreciated most about this book is how streamlined it is. RDM's writing style is enviably efficient and precise without unnecessary dialogue tags, rambling descriptions or exc

My ratings are totally subjective and based on enjoyment.
In the absence of liking any of the characters and finding the roughness of the intimacy off-putting, this was not something I enjoyed.

It was suppose to be a productive day .....Nope down the drain. Why? because of "Lucky 7" that's why. My hard disk is in over drive and overheating , no dull moments from page 1. Entertaining and full blast action. ...more
This book is amazing! Not only does it feature a cast of queer characters, but also queer characters of color. And to top it all off, the story's pretty awesome. Lucky 7 explores a cyberpunk future taken over by a corportation with a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits working together to work against it. (Have I mentioned how much I'm a sucker for found families!) The two main characters also go through major development through their internal struggles and their relationship with each other. Classic Enemi ...more

This is, without a doubt, the best book to date by Rae.

This is far more of a story driven book, with character development for multiple other lgbtqia characters in addition to the two characters the book is from the perspective of. Several of the characters bring new spins on past tropes, presenting them in a fresh way, while the others seem almost completely original, with Rami possibly being my favourite of the supporting characters.

You will not want to put this book down, although Rae might l
What is there not to like about this book? I could read this over and over and still enjoy it every. single. time.
The plot is action-adventure, and set on future Earth where a few rich corporations control most of the moolah. Our lucky 7 are a group of misfits on the run from an evil corp. A lot of the action takes place in a virtual reality environment which is accessible only to 'jackers' - tripping the wrong security wires in VR can mean a very dead body in 'meatspace' (where the body exists

Superb cyberpunk with intriguing cyber-reality. The characters are good and diverse.
I enjoyed the hate sex for the portrayal of the f@cking. But disliked it for the heartless f@cking that it was. But I read it and that is good.
There were a few twists that I liked, particularly the two-layer title. Excellent. Predictable in places, but it was well written and the characters were good, so who cares.
There is a lot of sex, and some of it I skimmed.

I look forward to the sequel.

Finally finished! :) Not that it was hard to finish at all but more like that life got in the way but once you get started you don't want to put it down until you reach the end and even when you reach the end you want even more.

Lucky 7 is sooooooo good. Like the kind of good where you're still awake two hours before you have to get up for your morning to actually start kind of morning. Which is totally what happened to me and even with me being tired the whole day it was still worth the read! I
This book had a little bit of everything in it. It was fast-paced and highly entertaining. I enjoyed every word and would love to see more from this crew.

I loved the main character and Rae was able to write all of the characters with so much personality that they jumped off the page and it felt like you were a part of the crew on each op. Each character brought something different to the team and story. My favorite part was the budding relationship between Elena and Sasha. I recommend this stor

It took me a while to get into this story as sci fi isn't a genre I usually read, so was confused with some of the terms and didn't really fully understand what was going on...until I hit the second half of the book. That was when I was pulled into the story. I enjoyed the diverse bunch of characters the story had to offer and the sex scenes were beyond hot. Despite all the positives I don't think it's one I could read again. ...more
What a wild ride! I really really enjoyed this one - it grabbed me from the first page and didn't let up until the very end.

Lucky 7 is a cyber-punk action-palooza that features a diverse and engaging crew of misfits. Elena and Sasha are the protaganists - the jacker (hacker/cyber expert) and handler (leader/brains) of a crew that hires out for less than legal ops. The rest of the team is rounded out by Cherry, the wrench (engineer/explosives), who is kinda crazy and loves to blow shit up and he

This book merge 2 of my love. Books&VideoGame.

Lucky7 is like reading a videogame, wich is probably why I'd enjoy the first person narrative.

I can't wait for more of this universe.

Spoiler alert : some sex scene could be interpreted as heteronormative by TERF.

Wich it is not.

Disclaimer: This review is rounded up to 3 but if I could do partial stars, it'd get a 2.5.
But regardless of the rating I gave, this is not a bad book for a casual reader looking for a fast paced queer POC romance in a dystopian world where Corporations are the enemy with an awesome diverse cast.

- The world-building was so friggin' good!
If I were rating this book on world building alone, I'd give it a 4/5, possibly higher because it's just that amazing. The political dynamics, the

Wow. Have you read Rae D Magdon‘s latest creation, “Lucky 7?” I’m glad I decided to push this To-Read book to the top of me list and went for it! Whoa, double WOW!! Needless to say, I finished it in a flash, so to speak! A TRUE GEM, in me books, really!

First off, “Lucky 7” prolly has THE most racially and sexually diverse cast of characters ever written in fiction, let alone lesfic! Non-Caucasian lesbian, bi, trans, non-binary cast of primary and secondary characters. Can’t get any better than t

A really awesome book. Love the diverse representation on the characters. Story itself is very interesting, easy to read and doesn't get too technical with the details. And that shower scene? Extremely hot.

Would highly recommend this.

Rae D. Magdon proves she's an extremely talented author with her cyberpunk romance-thriller "Lucky 7." I love cyberpunk as a setting. Something about a horrific lasseiz-faire capitalist dystopian nightmare-world where everything has been privatized really speaks to some of my worst fears as a reader. And the merging of hard sci-fi plus mystery-thriller that tends to characterize cyperpunk as a genre is something that really speaks to me. Unfortunately there is also a lot of "bad" cyberpunk out t ...more

If you’re looking for diverse characters and a lot action in your next read, this cyberpunk book will definitely satisfy!

The characters are fantastically diverse. Elena is a Mexican jacker; someone able to connect to virtual reality with their mind and interact with code. She is on the run from AxysGen after a previous mission for the company resulted in her entire team being killed. A mutual contact introduces her to Sasha, a team leader in search of a new jacker after her own disastrous missi

Lucky 7 by Rae D. Magdon is just a super fun ride. Set in the not too distant future, this is flat out adventure cyberpunk sci-fi with loveable characters and zippy dialogue.
Sasha is a handler, the leader of a crew of misfit mercenary-types. Her crew is scattered after a job goes wrong and now she’s looking for a replacement jacker to help her round them up. Elena is a newly crew-less jacker, looking for a place to run to and a team to watch her back. Elena doesn’t do crew-bonding and Sasha has
