I hate to admit it, but this was my first Desiree Holt book I have read. I keep asking myself why. Talk about HOT, the chemistry between Ryan & Sable was that, from the first time their eyes meet. Sable tried to fight it, with being the new vet in town and a woman at that, she felt the ranchers would not take her seriously around their livestock, she felt she had something to prove. She didn’t have time for a committed relationship and she felt a relationship wouldn’t work out with her with the hours she kept as a vet. Boom! Ryan and her had their first round in the sack and another and another. Could she keep it friends with benefits and not want more. She was starting to question herself if she wanted more with Ryan and if she did could a relationship work with him with her crazy hours, just when she was willing to give him more, KABOOM!!! Ryan goes and does something stupid, I wanted to go through the book and strangle him. But at the end he redeems himself.
If you are looking for a quick, HOT cowboy read I recommend you pick up a copy of Naked Hunger by Desiree Holt. You will be fanning yourself just like I was. I can not wait to read another of Desiree Holt’s books.

This is a fairly short romance. Sable Hunter is the new vet in town and Ryan is a client. He has a bull breeding operation and has his whole life sunk into the ranch. She wants casual because she's busy with her new practice and he's interested in something more permanent. The whole town is pushing for them to be together until Ryan messes up. Big time. Can they make it back to each other? This has heat and some humor.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Sean Hardisty—who has done a very nice job with the whole series, except for a few mis-pronouncements throughout the series. (For instance- the Charolais cattle breed is commonly pronounced SHAR-LAY) (at least all through the Midwest).

MY REVIEW:
This was a fun western romance that was short and sweet. Yet, you don’t come away feeling cheated.
This story is about Sable Hunter who has made a decision to leave the partnership she had a veterinarian clinic. Her partner was there longer so tended to think of her as a junior partner therefore giving her only small animals to work on. When she was trained for the large animals namely bulls.
So when she found Dr. Peter Lynch’s ad she couldn’t believe it. He was in a small town of Saddle Wells, Texas in Rowan County. He has been a vet there for 35 years but is looking to retire on his boat and travel with his wife Maura. When she goes to the town to see his clinic and ask all her questions to see if it’s the right if everyone she meets already has it in their head it’s a done deal. Which is great but it’s the ranchers she has to win over in order to thrive and survive.
Doc takes her to lunch at the diner where everyone who goes into town on any given day goes and everyone was there. Now mind you she had done her research she knew there was an ex-winning rodeo rider who was now doing a booming semen bull business. As her and Doc are talking she feels the hairs on the back of her neck and arms stand up and then her body tingles. But when she hears the man’s voice all her girly parts stand at attention. That had never happened before ever. She looks up and she takes in air but then she’s holding it until she can’t. He’s the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, The Ryan Donovan the ex-rodeo rider.
Ryan is speaking to Doc but it is hard for him to make heads or tails of it. He feels this weird connection to this new vet. So he ask Doc if he is going to be bringing her out for a tour of Gold Buckle Ranch since she will be working his bulls. Doc says yes. They went on the tour itself alone when they were done before she got into Doc’s car she turns to say thank you putting out her hand as he says it was his pleasure and shakes her hand electricity shoots through. This time she knows he felt it his eyes made a slight narrowing as he stared at her.
Buying the practice is the easy part what is she to do with the sexual charged man? She can’t afford to have a scandal in a small town. She can’t have a full on relationship she has a new business to baby. Plus her hours most men can’t handle. Can Ryan be that man? Is he done with buckle bunnies? Or is friends with benefits okay?
I enjoyed this book. The relationship that these two share is hot from the start. They want each other and town wants them together. They want the vet there too. But they know she has reservations about how she wants to be seen to the men in the town so her girlfriends that she met want to help her make it all work and they get their men behind her. I give this 5 stars.

Sable Hunter is ready to validate her occupation choice. Her job has me wanting to go back and watch some of my favorite Animal Planet shows. Ryan Donovan is the hunky cowboy who happens to own a ranch. They had me wanting to take a trip to Texas and go looking for their small town. It wouldn’t hurt to find a sexy cowboy either.
It’s a short story that won’t take long to read. It may just leave you wanting more of this series. We have a strong female character that is trying to change men’s perceptions about women vets. At one point in the story, Ryan made me pissed and I thought Sable was too good for him. But I liked the fact that he manned up and realized his mistake before it became too late. The ending is one that may have you smiling or saying “aw”. If you’ve not read this author before this book is a great showcase of Ms. Holt’s work. If you’ve not read this author’s books in a while, this is a great reminder of why you love her work. Bad news is that I can’t find out if there’s going to be a book nine. But it’s a good incentive to read any books, in this series, that you may have missed.

Sable Hunter wants to be taken seriously as a large animal veterinarian, so she sells her share of the practice she feels stifled in and moves to West Texas to take over the office of a retiring vet. While she is there to see if she likes the place, she meets the sexy and rugged former rodeo champ turned rancher, Ryan Donovan, and the instant attraction shocks them both (no pun intended). Wanting to separate business and pleasure, she fights against his advances. But, that doesn’t last long when he tells her that he intends to win her over. Things become hot and heavy between the pair until she is suspected of letting his new prize bull loose. He blames her without investigating what really happened and tries to ruin her new reputation and practice. Her friend rally around her and he sees the error of his ways, eventually trying to win her back.
While I love this author and her books, I ended up not liking the hero in this story. Yes, he was handsome. Yes, he was sexy. And, yes, he wooed the heroine in such a sweet way that made me swoon. But, he was a complete and utter ass for blaming her for his bull getting loose without finding out what really happened. Come on! There were so many other men around that could have done it, but he has to blame her because she is female and incompetent? Sorry, that would have turned me off and no way would I have taken him back.
I really liked the heroine, Sable, and her strength, tenacity, and the way she stuck up for herself and didn’t bow down to the men who thought she couldn’t do her job because she was a tiny woman. Other than her poor judgement for taking Ryan back, she was one kick ass woman! Love that!
Overall, the story is a good one and with the right reader would be amazing, but my issue with the hero kept me from loving it, which upsets me because I usually love everything this author writes.

Ms. Holt does a great job of encompassing so much drama, heat and heart in this short, fun read. The characters are well written with a fast paced storyline that holds your interest. The only negative thought I have on this book is Ryan’s horrible attitude after an incident at his ranch. I understand getting mad and wanting answers, a lot of money was at stake, but the way he handled it and his belligerent attitude towards Sable and bad mouthing her through the community, that I did not care for. It did not take away from the overall story, but knocked the hero down a few notches in my eyes. However In the end he gained some points back with his unique style of groveling for forgiveness. Overall they make a great couple and this was an enjoyable read.

This author knows how to write a sexy cowboy! This is book 8 in the Naked Cowboys series and it features Sable Hunter, new veterinarian in town, and rancher, Ryan Donovan. Oh man, the sparks were flyin' when these two set eyes on each other. She's a large animal vet trying to make it in a ranching community. When Ryan got upset and made assumptions about her, it made me so mad. He was rather childish in his fit of anger and didn't hold anything back. I would've made him work EXTRA EXTRA hard for my forgiveness.
Great story line! Fantastic characters! I can't wait to read more from this very talented author.

4 cowboy stars!! This book makes being a cowboy sound super sexy!! I think I need a cowboy in my life now!
Sable has a passion for animals and when an opportunity arises where she can take over for a retiring veterinarian, she jumps as the chance. Moving to Saddle Wells has her a little nervous but when she lays eyes on local rancher Ryan, she thinks she may have made the right choice. Ryan is a retired bull rider and now spends his time raising bulls for competition. He’s bored though and looking for a little fun and when he meets Sable, he’s ready to get her into his bed!
This book was definitely sexy and hot!! Ryan is definitely all cowboy and it pops off the pages of the book!! Not going to lie, I may be slightly jealous of Sable!!! Ryan is quite the catch!!

Sable is the brand new vet in town and she is more than a little excited to get back to working with larger animals again. She is determined to stay focused on building up her vet clinic and avoiding relationships but that was before she met rancher Ryan Donovan. He is was a big name in the rodeo circuit when he was younger but now he's settled down at his ranch raising bulls. Ryan is looking for a woman to settle down with and Sable let him know that she is only available in a "friends with benefits" status, but he is determined to change her mind.
I love Desiree Holt! She sure knows how to raise the heat factor in her books. I think her book "Forward Pass" was a bit more steamy than this one, but this one was also much shorter. I loved both of the main characters, and the secondary characters seem like a lot of fun too. This was #8 in the series but was a standalone without a cliffhanger. I haven't read any of the others in this series but I didn't feel lost at all while reading this one. I am definitely looking forward to going through the other one's in this series as well. I would have loved for this one to be a little bit longer so I felt more connected to the characters but this was still a good quick read.

Sable Hunter is ready to build her reputation as a veterinarian for large animals and she can’t afford any distractions but the sizzling heat between her and Ryan Donovan is seriously messing with her focus in this hot and steamy romance.
Ryan has put his prize money into raising bulls for competitions but he can’t deny that he misses the rush of pro-riding until he meets the new vet in town and the reader can’t help but get scorched by the white hot chemistry that flows as they decide that becoming friends with benefits has definite possibilities. These strong compelling characters rope readers into their story as the well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of passion and romance but the romance isn’t all spurs and roses as someone creates a bit of mayhem that puts Ryan on the wrong path which adds a bit of emotional turmoil and excitement to the story.
The town of Saddle Wells sure has an abundance of sexy and smokin’ hot Naked Cowboys and I sure love each and every visit. Ryan and Sable’s story is a delightfully sensual story that had me ensnared me from beginning to end and I can’t wait to my next visit.

These strong compelling characters rope readers into their story as the well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of passion and romance but the romance isn’t all spurs and roses as someone creates a bit of mayhem that puts Ryan on the wrong path which adds a bit of emotional turmoil and excitement to the story.
The town of Saddle Wells sure has an abundance of sexy and smokin’ hot Naked Cowboys and I sure love each and every visit. Ryan and Sable’s story is a delightfully sensual story that had me ensnared me from beginning to end and I can’t wait to my next visit.

As I’m a huge fan of Sable Hunter’s books, I loved that this female lead was named for her.
An independent woman trying to spread her wings in the male dominated career of large animal Vet, Sable is determined to let nothing impede her goal. So obviously time for romance and sexy ranchers is out of the question.
Ryan Donovan was a rodeo Cowboy who now is famous for his rodeo bulls and the exception bloodlines his breeds on his ranch. But when he meets the new Vet, his heart rate spikes and the head below his belt starts making future plans.
When a tragedy almost strikes and Ryan’s entire operation is put at risk, he is quick to react and blame the one person he should have faith in.
So can a devastating accusation be forgiven and trust re-established when a heart has been broken? I don’t know if I would forgive a man who acts like a total arse and sets a path of humiliation and destruction of my career.

Four Steamy Stars! Sable is a veterinarian who is starting a new job taking care of large animals. Ryan who is a former rodeo circuit rider and is looking for a woman to settle down with. The two have chemistry but will Sable considering settling down? Both characters are fantastic and the story enjoyable. This is the eighth book in the Naked Cowboys Series.

I love Cowboys and romance. This book has both. What a great read and the story line is very well written. Definitely able to read this as a stand alone. Quick read that packs a lovely romance. The story will grab you right from beginning. It's one of those books you can't put down. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Rock Star Lit.

A sexy, hot read with lots of emotion and while it's part of a series, it could be read as a standalone, though now that I've read Naked Hunger, I will definitely be going back to the beginning to meet all of the men of women of Saddle Creek.

This was a mostly fun, sexy read. I loved how Sable worked on large farm animals, a job most men would frown upon a "woman" doing. Ryan was a sweet hero, with this hidden sexy alpha type side that came out during the book. The perfect amount of drama, and the perfect ending.

I enjoyed reading Naked Hunger, Ryan and Sable’s story kept me invested in the characters and hooked on the storyline from beginning to end. I look forward to reading many more books in this series.

A decent short read with some steam and a giant cowboy. I haven't read any of the other Naked Cowboys books, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this one. If anything, it made me want to read them to find out their stories. I liked that Sable (great name btw) was charting her own course and taking over a veterinary practice somewhere she didn't know anyone. I liked that Ryan knew what he wanted.
Overall, a good read.
