Maybe someone like you is Katie Capwell's story about finding the life you want, rather than the one everyone expects. Katie is following in her mother's footsteps and has just graduated from law school. Now she needs to find a job and settle into her career. The hard work isn't over yet and Katie is experiencing her first bump in the road. She managed to get a job at the law firm she interned at but thanks to a merger she lost her place before she even started. Her boyfriend also went with the ...more

I loved this book! It's the perfect slow burn and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. (Because, you know, the slow burn.) ;) Stacy Wise takes us on a journey with a heroine who is smart, ambitious, and ready to step out of her comfort zone to get what she wants. Add in friendship, family, humor, and my favorite—a sweet and sexy hero to swoon over—and this book delivers everything I love in romance.

I initially picked up this book because of the cover. I am a cover-lover and if a book looks great on the outside I am more likely to pick it up. I know, I know. You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but how can anyone resist something so pretty? Anyway, aside from the cover, this was a decent book. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. One of the main reasons why I couldn't love it is because it is SO SL

Drinking game: take a shot every time I say the words ‘slow burn’ in this review.

This is my first book by Stacy Wise, and I absolutely loved it! It’s cute and swoony, with just the right amount of cheese.

Ryan is not Katie’s type; she’s an overachieving law school graduate, and he’s a tattooed martial arts instructor. But after he catches her creeping around outside the gym he works at, he offers to give her a tour - and Katie finds herself leaving with a gym schedule and her own personal instru

My first book from Stacy Wise and it most definitely won’t be my last!! “Maybe Someone Like you” was brilliantly done and so addictive! The Romance was a slow burn in the best possible way and perfectly done with the most amazing characters. Katie and Ryan were fated from the very beginning and I adored how their friendship blossoms throughout the book.

About the story:

Katie’s recently graduated law school which should be something to celebrate, but that’s not the case for her at the moment. The

I was looking forward to reading this one after reading the blurb. You've read the blurb, I'll give you my thoughts on the pluses and minuses in this story.
The plot was great. The writing while seemed slow, flowed really well and the dialogue was great.
The story is equally balanced between the two MC's Ryan and Katie. Katie just took her bar exam, coming out of a crap relationship and looking for a job after being cut from a merger and has a famous uptight attorney for a mother who raises the ba

Katie is a recent law school graduate with her future planned out. It includes courtroom victories and making a change in the world. It does not have room for a tattooed martial artist. You wouldn't think their paths would ever cross, that they aren't meant to, but you'd be wrong. They're perfect for each other and fate knows it.

Ryan works as a trainer at the local kickboxing gym when he meets Katie, who happens to be lurking outside, debating on attending the yoga class her friend and roommate

If I had to sum up this novel in one word, I'd go with: ordinary.
This is by no means a bad story. It just isn't a gripping, on-the-edge-of-your-seat one, either.
In Maybe Someone Like You, we follow freshly-dumped, newly-graduated lawyer Katie who, in the spur of the moment, decides to try out kickboxing - and veeeerrry slowly falls in love with her instructor Ryan.
The story is well paced; Katie looks for a job, finds one, has a crush on Ryan, has a very predictable date with someone else that e

This was such an addictive, romantic and sweet read and I'm still debating whether or not I should promote the book to a 5-star rating instead of 4.5 stars. This story was one I just couldn't stop reading once started and finished in nearly one-sitting (I had to take care of my son at some point, lol otherwise I would've definitely finished it in 1 sitting)

This is a delightful, slow burn, romance with the heroine, Katie Capwell, as the main character throughout. In the first few pages we learn  that Katie had recently finished law school and is awaiting her bar results when the job she'd accepted falls through and her boyfriend splits with her "because it is summer", just three days after tell her he loves her! This is definitely a time of change for this young lady and you'll have to read it yourself to discover what happens when she

OMG what an amazing book, it captivated my attention since the very beginning. Katie may have trouble sticking up for herself and speaking her mind but she has a big heart. She may still be struggling to find herself but when she walks by the kick boxing gym and meets Ryan for the first time she finally chooses something for herself. Ryan is so sweet, understanding, tough, strong and good looking especially with those tattoos. Even though on the outside he is nothing like what Katie is used to d ...more

This is the first book I've read from the author and I was really excited to read it. I liked the characters well enough but liking the characters does not make me enjoy the story, especially if I can't really connect with them. This story also moved at a very slow pace and I was expecting so much more. This one just wasn't for me.

He’s wearing the tie he wore on the night I met him, the one that’s covered with tiny foxes. I used to think it was cute, but now it only looks useful—like something I could choke him with.

This. Is. A. Very. "Slow". Read. Don't look for sex scenes. Ain't gonna happen. Don't look for high tension/anticipation either. I honestly almost DNF'd this because at the half way mark, I felt as though nothing had happened yet. Even after reading the book, I still feel that way. But at least I finished it, right?

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 4/20/18.

In Maybe Someone Like You, the focus is on the heroine and the romance, though sweet and ultimately satisfying, takes a back seat to her figuring out what she wants and where she's going with her life. There are dozens of Ryan-and-Katie moments sprinkled throughout, but since we only see Katie's POV, we aren't ever sure where Ryan stands on the whole K+R question. There's several false starts, many did he mean....? moments, a handful of dates with

This is one of the best books I have read so far in 2018. Stacy Wise has crafted a sweet story about a young woman's path to finding happiness within herself, within her career and within a relationship. If you are looking for a hot and heavy romance that will melt your Kindle then this isn't the book for you. But if you want to read a touching story about two people discovering a real connection then give this one a try.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thought

Maybe Someone Like You, by Stacy Wise, was such a pleasant surprise. Katie’s life is in transition. When Katie Capwell decided to sign up kickboxing lessons, she never imagined her life would change for the better, especially since she and Ryan Brincatt are from totally different worlds. However, the more he teaches her, the more she finds herself falling for him. Will Katie and Ryan achieve their happy ever after or will the fact that they're too different keep them apart?

The first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. It looks like this story will be lots of fun and I've got to say

Katie just wants to do something different. She recently finished law school and is searching for her first job while she waits to find out if she passed the bar. Her boyfriend just dumped her because he "wants to be single for summer," whatever that means, and she's just had it with the status quo. On her way to yoga with a friend, she passes a kickboxing gym and is immediately intrigued. The fact that the trainer she runs into is gorgeous and tattooed and not remotely her usual type doesn't hu ...more

Katie is just out of law school, and just out of what she THOUGHT was a relationship until her boyfriend started talking about how excited he was to "meet" new people. She has a mother who expects a lot from her, who may or may not be the reason she got a new job. And she has started doing something fairly out of character: kickboxing. And her trainer is sweet and sexy and keeps popping up everywhere.

The feel I got with this one was very much a New Adult book and less of a Romance. There is a lo

I want to preface this with if you're looking for hot, crazy sex, you're not gonna get it. And if that's all you're looking for, that's unfortunate because you'll miss out on a really great book. New adult isn't my preferred genre, but I really liked the story that this book told. Ryan and Katie were both really likable characters and I found myself rooting for them from the start. This is the first book that I've read by Stacy Wise, and I really enjoyed it's sweet & slow burn goodness. She took me on a journey with a heroine, Katie, who was smart, hardworking, ambitious, and who was strong enough to step out of her comfort zone when life didn't go quite how she thought it would. Maybe Someone Like You is a sweet story about coming into ones self. Insecurities plague Katie's mind after he boyfriend went from Prince potential to total toad. Always trying to please Mom isn't exactly a confidence booster either. Losing her first Job before it starts...Yeah, Katie is wallowing in self pity. Until she meets him.

Ryan is the total opposite of anything Katie has ever found attractive. He's a big tattooed guy. He looks rough around the edges and like her could crush her. But it s

An enjoyable read overall.

Here, we hear from Katie and Ryan. This is read from Katie’s POV, and we see how she deals with a break-up, a new job, what she really wants in life and her attraction to Ryan, her kickboxing instructor.

Katie deals with A LOT, lol. I hated her new boss, not sure how she didn’t kill the idiot; also, her Mom wasn’t a favorite of mine, I found she was too hard on Katie and not very understanding of her choices. I liked Katie all in all, I think she represents a lot of peop
