description

This book had amazing potential.
It had so many things going for it: an intriguing premise, thrilling action scenes, an emotional and bleak atmosphere, loveable secondary characters, gore, and even a hint of romance between two best friends. I didn't even mind the heroine's sulking or the repetitive writing that much - I was totally engrossed in what was happening.
It would have easily been a 4 star read for me, maybe more, hadn't it been for (view spoiler)

Reading zombie-apocalypse books is something I am known to do every few years. There is something about how fast-paced and plot-driven they are that gives me the feeling I'm smashing that reading challenge right in the face - much like I would do to a zombie's head. Or at least I hope I would be able to do that and not just sit there wallowing in fear and/or soiling my pants. Yikes!

When Kill or Cure got into my radar, I kept getting ads for this mobile game called State of Survival. I was very h

I received this book for free from MTMC Tours, Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. You can also find this review at The Reader and the Chef.

Kill or Cure is about a dystopic society where a virus breaks loose and chaos ensues. Alyx and Tommy, two teenagers that lost their parents to the infected (aka zombies) when they were children, were rescued by their uncle Joe and went to live in a secluded/walled compound. Years p

I was provided with a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The story focuses on the relationships between Alyx and her "family" and their attempt to keep her brother Tommy safe after he seems he may have succumbed to the virus. The plot is paced well enough that I felt a sense of urgency and importance, and also made everything else really. The was a good amount of action scene, but also time to get to know the characters and their personalities. The idea was intere

This is a genre that has been done in a million different ways for a million different readers, and one is hard-pressed to find a book that is a little different or offers something new. I’m thrilled (and relieved) to say that this book does that in addition to being entertaining and well-written.

It’s true, this is indie author, Pixie Britton’s debut but you would never guess it from reading it and it’s a series debut as well. Huge undertaking, but if book #1 is any indication then I think we ca

I enjoyed reading this over my camping weekend. The characters are very likable, which pulls on your heart strings, since its the zombie apocalypse. Some may get eaten! It's not your normal run-of-the-mills zombie read. Tommy (The brother) somehow survives the infection and turns into something MORE. He exhibits traits that I thought were almost vampire in resemblance. Insatiable hunger, clear good-looking skin, and strength. I cant wait to see what happens to him next. Then there's the romance! ...more

It's strange how an ordinary day can change in a flash.

We never saw them coming.

Summary
In a world that is plagued by the Infected it's not safe to leave the walls of your city. But after her little brother falls sick and nothing seems to help him, Alyx doesn't have a lot of options. Her last resort is finding the yarrow flowers and hoping that it will be enough to cure him.

Writing
I can't really say anything bad about the writing style. It's really simple, but it makes it easy and pleasant

Alyx lives in a town of survivors with her brother Tommy, her guardian Joe, and her best friend Will. The Infected come from time to time, but they know how to protect themselves. When Tommy is infected, they know that they will have to leave. Without the protection of their walls, they are in danger when any traveler or Infected comes near to them. They have to protect Tommy, find new shelter, and avoid the Infected while they are at it.

I started off this novel truly invested in the story. I l

Upon recently finishing this book I had a burning urge to give this author a shoutout on one of my social media platforms (something I haven’t done before!). ‘Kill Or Cure’ is the first book to bring me close to tears, and the only reason I didn’t cry is because I wouldn’t allow myself! Just like my favorite character Alyx wouldn’t. Britton manages to inject topics such as love, family, relationships and many other more light hearted themes into such a contrasting genre where you would rarely fi ...more

I don’t normally go for the zombie or infected dystopian post-apocalyptic books, but the blurb on this one made it sound different. Alyx & Tommy’s parents were killed when the infected first showed up in their community, their Dad had them hide in a cupboard. They were fairly young when this happened. Their mother’s brother, Joe, who was in the military when he heard about it and he immediately came to them and was a great father role model. The youngest brother Tommy gets scratched but doesn’t ...more

I really enjoyed reading this book. It has everything you could want in a zombie story - action, danger, a hint of romance, and the love of a family trying to survive in a world gone wrong. Alyx and Will play off each other well and help keep the story interesting during lulls in the action. There are times when your heart is in your throat, just hoping things will turn out right. A great young adult dystopian story.

One of my absolute favourite of all time!! The description and detail is incredible which really sets a picture insides the readers brain. Also, the way how each character is portrayed throughout the entire book is amazing. If you like The Walking Dead or any zombie/ thriller books then I definitely recommend this book. :)

Loved this zombie novel by Pixie Britton. It was fast-paced, well-written, and character driven. I have to admit, I even cried a little. Kill or Cure is chock-full of action and emotion. If you enjoy zombie lit, I recommend you give this one a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I can't wait to read the next! ...more

This was good but not great.
The characters were a little flat, the action entirely wasn’t believable and I have no idea of Tommys age.
At one point he’s a preteen, then he seems to be of a similar age to the rest of the group.
The relationships are a bit weird, they seem a little forced and unnatural.
The main issue was that too much happened too quickly, but with no building of tension it all kind if fell flat.

i brought this book after meeting the author at walker stalker 2018. This is a genre that I am interested in so being a new writer I thought I would give it a go. I was not disappointed. From start to finish this book really makes you feel as if you are the one standing there. I am looking forward to reading her next. As well as many more to follow.

I love when I pick up a book and can get sucked in from the very first chapter. This is when I realize that I will finish it quickly because all I want to do is keep reading until the end. This is what this book had done for me and I loved it!

There was a lot of action and it started immediately so it was easy to get sucked in. There were zombies but the whole book is more character driven so the zombies are kind of secondary. Don't get me wrong, you do get your fair share of zombie slaying but t

Action packed zombie story featuring 17 year old Alyx and her brother Tommy. Infection is close at hand and prompts a hasty exit from one sanctuary to another that may not be what is seems. An easy read with enough story to keep it moving quickly.

This book had me gripped from the moment I picked it up. I’m a quick reader, but even I was shocked how quickly I devoured this one! I think I started reading on the Friday evening and by the following evening, I was turning the final few pages with tears in my eyes! Yes, you read that correctly. This zombie, post apocalyptic, dystopian craziness is all of that, yes, but it also hits you right in the feels, too. Something I wasn’t expecting, but was pleasantly surprised by (if crying can ever be ...more

This book was so fun to read! A great debut for Pixie Britton! While zombies are definitely a thing in this, the family aspect is much more the real focus. I love the way the author writes, especially the way she describes the characters, their emotions, and the world around them. I found this to be an easy to follow book. Everything had a nice flow to it, so nothing felt too rushed or too slow unless it was necessary. I found myself actually caring about the characters and what was going on. I ...more

If you are a fan of stories involving zombies, like me, then i think you'd really enjoy this book. The narrator of the novel is a strong female character (which i love) and there is a plot twist towards it. She is strong in facing her problems but the fun bit is she still is a teenager who is going through teen problems. In a way, you can relate to the characters and feel or understand their emotion even though you've never experienced their situation. This novel brings out a whole new reality o ...more

I purchased the book despite having a free Kindle copy as I knew I'd enjoy this book........and I wasn't wrong.
From the moment I read the first chapter I was hooked. With the way the characters are introduced and described I felt as though I knew them and straight away was concerned for their wellbeing etc.
The story follows a solid story line and flows really well. Not jumping around the place or planning irritating time jumps.
Without spoiling anything there were a couple of scenarios that occur
