This novel will always hold a special place in my heart for being my introduction to the deep, deep pit of Chinese danmei novels 💖

While I was ultimately pretty happy with how the drama ended (they really did the best that they could consider "But there was no use in saying all that. Nobody knew with more clarity than Wei Wuxian that nobody would care, and nobody would believe him. Anything related to [him] would be given the most malicious conjectures and passed through the mouths of the crowds."

While I was ultimately pretty happy with how the drama ended (they really did the best that they could considering the the censorship), obviously the novel's ending is far superior and I am 100% happy with it! To be completely honest, I could have done without the smut but like... I sure ain't going to complain that it's there 😏

Apart from the obvious romance stuff, the novel also gave me a few other things that the drama didn't adapt/explain for some reason, so that felt very satisfying. (view spoiler) I also really liked the sections after the final battle with Wei Wuxian and (especially) Jin Ling reflecting on everything that happened and the consequences still to come, I can't believe that I went into this series expecting to dislike Jin Ling, poor baby, I'm sorry that I misjudged you 🥺

YES THE SMUT. The slow burn of 4 volumes was soooooooooooooooooooooo worth itttttttttttttttttt *internal flailing* ehem. I loved this series. Wei Wuxian is a splendid MC - intelligent, positive, clever, seductive, charming, kind, everything....... everything you'd think a demonic cultivator would not be. XD But he is simply amazing from beginning to end. How someone can go through two lives the way he did and still have such a positive outlook, I do not know.

前三本素菜讓人不敢期待，沒想到最終卷開了大葷! 還滿漢全席啊超感人XD
本來想說能改編成電視劇的，一定是走擦邊球路線，沒想到還貨真價實的呢...讓我更加好奇電視劇到底拍到甚麼程度XD
話說回來這套的劇情寫得真好，看到後來有種真相大白、但又暗藏懸疑之感。唯一不能理解的是當年鬼將軍誤殺、血洗那段真的是失控造成的? 這樣最後魏無羨放任他趴趴走可以嗎...??感覺上結局留了一手，搞不好會加開續集也說不定? 小夫妻的閃光永遠看不夠啊~
平心出版社真的太邪惡了，番外特裝版硬是比普通版早出一個月! 特裝好貴啊! 沒關係我等!

Where do I even begin, I could write pages and pages about all the parts I loved. This is an absolutely amazing novel. The plot is very, very captivating and the characters are interesting and wonderfully fleshed out. It's an action thriller set in a world with martial arts, reanimated corpses, and a lot of humor. The romance is cute and touching, and in my opinion, a very well-written development of enemies to friends to lovers.

เดินเรื่องแถวเนินป่าช้าซะส่วนให่ญ่ ทั้งอตีดและปัจจุบัน
อ่านแล้วก็เศร้าตามเว่ยอิงไปด้วย รู้สึกว่าเศร้าเกินหนังสืออีกแล้ว

rating this particular part of the series with a 4 and not a 5 mostly because of the bad sex that was problematically executed and also i find it went against the whole built up vibe and dynamic of the main's relationship. it didn't ruin much for me because i already knew what to expect thanks to being familiar with the bl/yaoi genre in asia and its tendencies with authors who enforce inaccurate and even problematic executions to sexual tropes. so it just became an easily ignorable part of the s ...more

I have no words to describe how good this one was. All elements were perfectly balanced. It gives a beautiful moral that no one can escape from the harshness of the world. After watching the Untamed Chinese drama four times in a row, I finally gave in and read the novel.
I am grateful for the work of the translators from @Exiled Rebels Scanlations, who made the English version available for fans. I finished reading everything in one feverish night and a day, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I will be using this one to review the manhua edition.
First thing first, the story was so much well doing, even if at some points you miss things (that makes you to at least read the novela first), the drama was tuen on every time (but as I said before, much well design), the art is so gorgerous and the jokes the characters throw off their mouth makes me laugh so much.
