In this book, Wally P. will take you through the Twelve Steps as they were taken by the early A.A. pioneers. You will learn how to develop a direct two-way communication with the "God of your understanding", and how to follow the "Guidance" you receive. You will have the opportunity to experience the life changing spiritual awakening that occurs as the direct result of completing the Twelve Steps in four one-hour sessions. In addition, you will learn how to become a "life changer" by carrying this life-saving message of hope to others.
I REALLY liked this book. I had been sober for a few years when I read it, but I felt like it said things in a way that just clicked for me. Would recommend for anyone in sobriety. And I also read this book with a group in a “Back to Basics” AA group, fyi. Normally AA has Back to Basics groups you can find.
Good basic intro to program. Some takeaways: The 12 steps consist of 4 categories: 1. Admission 2. Spiritual 3. Restitution and Inventory 4. Working and Message. Shows how worked all 12 steps in 1 month for best results.
This is an excellent book for doing the steps the way they were done back in the days when AA started. Keep it simple is what Dr. Bob would say and these are the best ways I have seen it work that way. From reading this book I know understand how people could go through their steps in a weekends instead of taking months of time. The fourth step doesn't need to be drawn out into pages of guilt and regret of past wrongs. It also shows how many customs of AA have been a bit lost in modern era of AA. I wish more AA groups picked up this book as a tool and used it.
A quick and focused trip through the big book in addressing the 12 steps. Great for the newcomer as an introduction process and should be done with a partner. The newcomer has the rest of their life to fully savor the journey through the steps as they continue trudging the road of happy destiny.
