تتميز اعمال "راى برادبورى" بالتنوع الكبير، وهو عموما يكتب قصصا قصيرة من نوعيات متباينة: قصص الحياة العادية قصص الاضطرابات النفسية العميقة والمروعة قصص الطفال قصص رحلات الفضاء التى تتميز بالرعب والمرح أو الخيال قصص الغموض والأسرار التى تنطوى على توجيه أخلاقى أو شرح موضوعات غيبية أو خارقة.
أما عن الخيال العلمى، فلا شك أن حماس "برادبورى" له يغزو عالم المستقبل ذاته، فهو يشعر بأنه مطالب بتحذير الناس من أية كورث محتملة، وبث الرغبة فى تحقيق المجد والفخر، ما دام ذلك فى الإمكان.
يماثل أسلوب "برادبورى" أسلوب الشعر، إذ يتسم بالدقة فى اختيار الأسلوب والصور؛ والبلاغة والتنميق.
ويتضمن هذا المجلد اثنتين وخمسين قصة من أروع ما كتب، ولم يسبق ترجمتها إلى اللغة العربية.

احتوى الكتاب على 11 قصة قصيرة، وهو الكتاب الأول من المجلد الثاني من الأعمال الكاملة لراي برادبري.
لم تكن على المستوى الذي توقعته بالنسبة لراي برادبري صاحب 451 فهرنهايت، فجرعة الخيال العلمي لم تكن كافية، إضافة لأن القصص نفسها لم تكن على مستوى الجودة. هذا هو أوّل كتاب أقرؤه من الكتب الثمانية للأعمال الكاملة التي أصدرها المركز القومي للترجمة.
أفضل القصص التي اعجبتني:
1- بدلة المثلوجات الرائعة.
2- دواء مضاد للاكتئاب.
3- المدينة التي لا ينزل في محطتها أحد.
