As usual, this author hits upon several current topics. This book briefly touches on Medicare/Medicaid fraud and a new Opiod law and how it affects those who need them but don't abuse them. It also touches on mental trauma that some children suffer through, domestic abuse and workplace sexual harassment.

Whether it was the subject matter or the ability to tie together several story lines into a complete work of fiction, Robert Thornhill’s 29th Walt Williams’ mystery comedy novel, Lady Justice and the Magic Dragon, is arguably one of the best in his series.

Thornhill starts by addressing severe PSTD in children who have been witnesses to extreme violence and how it may impact their life as an adult. By placing such an individual in a sheltered home which also houses women and children who are esca

Another amazing story with Walt and the Gang. A heartwarming and thought provoking but still a touch of fun story lines that will make you stop and think. I enjoyed the references to Puff the Magic Dragon. It made me see the song in a different way.
I loved every minute of the book and hated to see it end.

Talk to any elementary teacher and they will tell you stories of the devastating effects that domestic violence reeks upon young children. Whether physical or emotional, delivered to the child or their parent, an environment of abuse causes serious delays in learning and emotional development in the very young.

When Lady Justice brings Walt directly into the path on a 28 year old man, Billy, who is stuck in the mind set of an eight year old child, Walt’s compassion joins forces with a very magic

Laughter and tears

I don't know where to start except to say, read this book. Initially, got it because I liked the description and it was free. I was not prepared for the incredible stories (with documented statistics) I would read about domestic abuse, sexual harassment and problems caused by political knee jerk reactions to opiod overdoses. The senior "crew" were funny and delightful. This book mad me laugh and it made me cry. Looks like I will actually be buying several more books!

Lady Justice and the Magic Dragon by Robert Thornhill

In the newest installment of the Lady Justice series, Walt is determined to save three children. An abusive Husband, muggers and sexual preditor terrorize the children. As they escape into a land of make belive with only a Magic Dragon (Puff) for comfort, Walt makes sure Justice takes its course.

Fast paced, with (a) gripping plot, emotionally charged , this may be Walts most heart felt case(s). Overall I found Lady Justice and the Magic Dragon

He was picking his nose.
Corny, yes, but that's the trademark of Jerry, one of Walt's old friends.

For those unfamiliar with this fabulous series, Walt Williams is a retired realtor who joined the police when in his 60s. Now he is retired again to run his own PI firm with his brother in law, both 'grey haired old gumshoes' in their 70s. But don't underestimate the elderly. As he says, 'You don't want to make old people ma

I am not sure how Robert Thornhill does it but I am so happy he does. This book hits on the Me Too movement and Domestic Violence among other issues. Roberts books always have a great deal of fun humor and a major issue most often one that has been wildly in the news. This book is no different. I think my favorite part of this book is the incorporation of the child's book Puff the Magic Dragon. Growing up in the 60's I had a 45 of this song and loved this story. I LOVE how Robert uses the story ...more

I have gotten a little behind in reading of "The Lady Justice Series". I am glad I picked up this one to begin catching up. It was so well researched, plotted out, and touching I totally recommend this book. It deals with a huge issue in society and also the healing that can take place when Lady Justice balances her scales. I actually recommend the entire series of books starting from the beginning. I can see the evolution of the author's talent still growing. Thanks, Robert, for continuing the ...more

I have seen several of these offered in the past as freebies, and I was intrigued by the title, so I took a punt and read it. I confess I got it as a freebie, but once I got started (6th of April) I found it difficult to put it down. I tend to read in bed and this kept me going for several days, although I finished up reading to the end despite needing my beauty sleep ;>)
After I finished, it lingered in my mind and I eventually went back and re-read it to pick up some of the details that had
The first thing a reader needs to know about any of the books in the series is that there is an abundance of humor. The second is that the humor is there to offset some rather severe realities. Brought into the sunlight this time are domestic violence and the damage it does to children and the non abusive parent. As a nurse, I do wish that it had been mentioned that sometimes that behavior is passed on and sometimes it leads to drug problems. But I give it high marks for what it does do. There a ...more

by Robert Thornhill

This volume of The Lady Justice series deals with more social issues. We are shown street thugs which are not new, nor domestic violence, or sexual harassment and abuse. We see how others can be affected. The way Walt and friends handle these situations may not be possible to most, but they show there is help out there. Thank you to Mr. Thornhill for highlighting these issues!!!

The narration was well done. The characters were

Another adventure in Walt's life.

I really enjoyed this book by Robert Thornhill. I loved the cameo' s and references about the author in the book. Much like Clive Cussler does in his novels. I think I have read all in the Lady Justice series, and more than anything I am impressed with the contemporary feel of the books, and how timely the books are about issues today. The subjects which are at best controversial are handled carefully and with respect. This book was no exception. I highly recomme

Another great one. An enjoyable way to trudge through, what would otherwise be despicable, the seedy side of humans. The world would be a better place if the Lady Justice team really existed. Thanks for making me smile Robert Thornhill.

Great read

I like the way Mr. Churchill used his story to stress the damage abusive men were doing to their wives and children. Walt was a fun kind of bumbling retired policeman. He managed to help two families in this book.

I have read all of the Lady Justice Series and have enjoyed every one of them. This Lady Justice and the Magic Dragon is no exception. It is another enjoyable read by this talented author.

This book has a magical theme about the famous Puff the Magic Dragon. The story carries this theme throughout as Walt and his fellow comrades strive to help a grown man who is tormented by the deaths of his parents when he was a child, so much so that he has not grown up and faced this tragedy. Walt is also the

I long have been a fan of Robert Thornhill, and he never disappoints in his books. As usual he takes what is going on in the world and incorporates it into his storyline to make it relevant and entertaining. There was a lot going on in this book and pretty much nonstop action. I did miss his motley crew of sidekicks this time around but Walt hand his brother in law had it all under control. It did make me laugh that the Author itself is mentioned by Walt in this book, and to let the reader know ...more

This audiobook is hard for me to review,
Don’t get me wrong it was well written but it was I believe for a very young audience, something like 12-13 year old crowd.
Somehow the author turned an ugly world into a beautiful one which eventually everything works out at the end no matter how bad the situation is.
I did like how the author got Amazon Alexia into the story implying that privacy is gone and listening to it on Amazon was beautiful.

Do I recommend this book?
Yes for youngsters but not for

Love that Mr. Thornhill continues to weave his fictional comedy mysteries with societal hot topics. Walt Williams and his rag tag crew of seniors never fail to come to the rescue with humor that will leave you laughing out loud while contemplating the seriousness of the topics long after the story ends. Great writing!

Really enjoyed this book, as all his other books he has written. It hard to put it down once I start to read. I need to know what happens next and he has never disappointed me. Thank you
First time I was disappointed in one of the Lady Justice stories. Also, first time I received one of Robert Thornhill’s books that wasn’t signed!
