"How Fast Is It" is an excellent book to help get students interested in science. This book provides unique perspective on the speed of various objects by drawing absurd, humorous comparisons with things kids will find more familiar. The vehicle used to move a spaceship to its launch site, for example, only moves about as fast as a baby can crawl! The illustrations add to the overall humor of the book. This book would be a great way to trick students into learning while they have fun!

Fabulous picture book to help children (and the rest of us) understand the relativity of speed, as each page spread compares something fast with something else - like an ostrich with professional cylers, or a computer with a human brain, or even a coyote with a roadrunner! It's fascinating, and children (about 4th grade and up) will love it! Many of us have something to learn here - did YOU know that the crack of a whip is a sonic boom?!

Another non-fiction book read aloud to my 7 year old. He eats this stuff up.
this book has some very interesting and surprising information. the computer generated pictures are a great match for the tongue-in-cheek tone.
Not as much fun as "How Big Is It?", but still great. This is really an excellent series - humorous, informative, irresistible - can't wait to see what else Hillman has for us!
