"How Fast Is It" is an excellent book to help get students interested in science. This book provides unique perspective on the speed of various objects by drawing absurd, humorous comparisons with things kids will find more familiar. The vehicle used to move a spaceship to its launch site, for example, only moves about as fast as a baby can crawl! The illustrations add to the overall humor of the book. Fabulous picture book to help children (and the rest of us) understand the relativity of speed, as each page spread compares something fast with something else - like an ostrich with professional cylers, or a computer with a human brain, or even a coyote with a roadrunner! this book has some very interesting and surprising information. the computer generated pictures are a great match for the tongue-in-cheek tone.
