Sexy without being blatant, sizzling without being in-your-face, Petie McCarty’s AMBUSH IN THE EVERGLADES is a suspense-filled romance set in the wild and untamed wetlands of Florida where even the mosquitoes are starved for human blood.

Kayli Heddon is doing a photo essay for none other than the governor of Florida. A staunch supporter of saving the beauty of nature, she finds herself far too attracted to the scowling guide and airboat pilot, Skye, a man who exudes power and strength and an air

Girl meets boy, sparks fly, he pushes the throttle of the airboat forward and we are off on an Everglades adventure. So far, things are what I expected them to be and I am loving it. I am sure the danger is around one of these corners, just got to find it. lol

The Everglades is something on my bucket list, so I was very excited to ‘read all about it.’ I can imagine the vibrations from the airboat under my feet, the sounds and smells that surround me, the wind blowing my hair and the sun on my fac

Kayli is on a mission for the governor: to photograph the Everglades Restoration. She’s also on a secret mission but no one knows about that so I won’t reveal. Kayli is assigned to the airboat guide’s, Skye’s, boat and he’s one annoying man. Sure, he’s the handsomest man she’s ever met but the way he treats her grates on her nerves. But as they travel throughout the Everglades, she learns to trust him and it’s a good thing too because she’ll need him if they’re ever going to get out of the Everg ...more

Who needs more I ask? ME! I want to read more about the interesting characters. Today I received a signed cover of this book from the author and I am tickled to pieces to have one!! Despite me calling her and telling her it was all her fault that I was exhausted for two days. I stayed up waaaaaaay too late reading her book. Have you had one of those books? You just would read a few more pages to find out what happens? Next thing it is midnight and work is the next day?

McCarty pens an intriguing tale of adventure and love with "Everglades." Kayli Heddon is a photographer on a mission, but will her Seminole guide, Skye Landers, derail her planned out life?

Set in the Florida everglades, Kayli is given an assignment by her uncle, the governor – capture the beauty of the everglades. He has a proposal to help the everglades environment. I felt like I was riding on an airboat through the river of grass in the Florida Everglades with Kayli Heddon. The author does a wonderful job with detail and description that pull you right into an adventure with Kayli Heddon, a photo journalist who takes a tour boat journey with Skye Landers, a Seminole Indian guide, or so she thinks. Throw Clay Jameson, a shallow, self-serving, political guy into the mix. He insists over and over that Kayli is his girlfriend, but no matter how many times he s ...more

Secrets, lies, betrayals, romance, alligators, Colombian drug dealers, Native American culture and history, environmental impact and ecological stance, disgusting bugs, giant spiders, and repulsive cockroaches – oh my!!! Can two stubborn, but passionate characters find love on an airboat in the Everglades?!

There is so much to this book and I loved every page!!!

This is the fourth book I’ve read from the talented writer, Petie McCarty. Last month I had the privilege of reading her book, “The Angel

Ms. McCarty is fast becoming one of my favorite writers. In fact, I hope that she continues in the romantic suspense category. She writes her action scenes that make you feel like you are right in it with the characters. Her heroines can hold there own and the heroes realize that the woman in their life is quite capable.

Kayli is no shrinking violet. Look, I would be freaking out about leeches and roaches like any sane person so I can get that with her. She takes her punches and moves on from it.

This was a new author for me and it will not be the last time I read something from her! I really enjoyed this book. First off, it was really well researched! The descriptions of the flora and fauna in the Everglades was spot on. You can tell the author took the time to learn the different aspects of what's important in preserving the Everglades. Made it feel like I was on the airboat with them. The writing was good, very few editing errors. It didn't drag with all the descriptions or weigh down ...more

In this environmental adventure romance, Kayli is sent on assignment to the Everglades. The writing style is good and there were a couple of plots interwoven into the story, both criminal and political that added a multifaceted dimension to the book. I found the descriptions of the Everglades educational and enjoyed the insights, especially as I had an opportunity of visiting the area when I traveled in the USA some years ago. I was, therefore, able to identify with riding on an airboat, seeing ...more

Love and Danger in the Everglades…Kayli, a photographer working for the governor, is shooting pictures of the beauty of the Everglades. Skye, doing a favor for his cousin, is the guide on this trip. Both of them are strong proud personalities that conflict many times. In the Everglades, they find danger from an unexpected source and learn to work together. Captivated from the start, I fell in love with both protagonists, Kayli Heddon and Skye Landers, and couldn’t read fast enough to find out what awaited them in this well-written, romantic adventure. An expert storyteller, Ms. McCarty has a wonderful eye for detail and a strong sense of place. She takes us on an extraordinary journey with Kayli and Skye as they confront the physical and emotional challenges of the Everglades. At times, it felt like the Everglades was another character in the narr ...more

This is a story by new to me author Petie McCarty. This is the 1st, but will not be the last book of hers I read. She has really done her homework on the Everglades. She has obvious extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of the region. I very much enjoyed the story of Kayli Heddon and Skye Landers. They meet when Kayli gets sent to the Everglades to take photos for the governor for a project. Skye ends up as the tour guide running the air boat. There

Kayli always saw Big Sugar as polluters of the Everglades so she jumped with delight when her Uncle, the Governor of Florida, allowed her to photograph the beauty and nature that was being tarnished. It would be her big break as a nature photographer if she could nail the presentation. Can she handle the voyage and everything it entails, especially the frustrating tour guide?

Skye Landers grew up in the Glades, his uncle teaching him the way of the Seminole, his cousin Jimmy owned an air boat tou

What a ride. I went to the Everglades with Petie McCarty’s characters. Her description of the Everglades really and truly made it seem as if I were there. Her characters made it even more life-like.

I have read and reviewed another of Petie McCarty’s books, “The Angel and the Seal”. So, you are going to see a few points here that are exactly the same. She creates characters you want to know, but different characters from book to book. No mass market romances here; no boiler plate plots. I think t

When I read the summary for Ambush in the Everglades I knew I had to read it and let me tell you that summary does not in no way do it justice. I don’t know what I expected from Ambush in the Everglades when I first picked it up but I do know one thing what I got is not it. It was so much more than what I had pictured or imaged it to be.

The description of the everglades of all the little bugs, spiders, snakes and alligators were so vivid that I felt as if I was right there on that boat with Sky

This was a wonderful read! The writing pulled you in immediately. The descriptions were so well written you actually felt like you were on an airboat in the Everglades. The action and adventure kept you turning the pages for the entire read. Romance is in the air too, but it doesn’t overshadow characters or events. I literally stayed up all night finishing this one!!! I will definitely be reading more by this author!!

This is the first book I have read by this author and found within the pages a story that kept me engaged page after page - word after word. The story found within these pages was one I haven't encountered in any other book before. The characters are relatable. Basically it is easy to see myself hanging out with the characters and within the story.

I loved it and look forward to many many more reads from this author.

I, Amber McCarty (Imaginative Dreams), was given a copy for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The story line is very good with a lot of really likable characters. This is a story that shows that you should never really judge a book by its cover or rather a person based on first impressions or appearance. A really really enjoyable read.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

What a high action, romantic, dangerous, mystical novel!
I couldn’t have asked for more.

The Governor of Florida sends a young woman he sees as a daughter into the Everglades to take pictures of the Everglades. Tagging along, but not wanted, is a guy she had two dates with, Clay. He’s a staff member for the Governor and is a royal jerk. While Kylie wished she’d never dated him at all, she doesn’t contradict his claim that they are a couple when she ends up in the care of an annoyed, goodlooking,

The Everglades

This standalone romance is set in the Everglades, where the Florida governor has sent a family friend and photographer to take photos of restoration progress. But what starts out as a straightforward assignment turns tempestuous when Kayli arrives at the boat ramp late and finds the last person she wants to see, Brad, from the governor's office. A man who won't take no as her answer for a third date. But in her hurried attempt to avoid him, she commits to riding with their Seminole
Kayli was just plain RUDE. As in ARROGANT rude and offensive rude. She behaved so badly I wanted her to get her comeuppance (but she won't I know ) And she is supposed to be a hot-shot photographer - so why has she only got one camera bag?

Anyway, I didn't like her and I could see where this was going, so I left her to it/him ;)
