Leonora Logroño has finally been introduced to her family’s bakery bruja magic—but that doesn’t mean everything is all sugar and spice. Her special power hasn’t shown up yet, her family still won’t let her perform her own spells, and they now act rude every time Caroline comes by to help Leo with her magic training.

She knows that the family magic should be kept secret, but

My Synopsis: Leo is officially a Bruja in training! She’s spent the school break with her Tia Paloma studying the basics of magic. Leo strives to learn her special family power so that she can become a great Bruja! And make u

loved this even more than the first. the magic is more developed, Leo is even more of her beautiful and curious self, and we get 2x the amount of family (and spirit!) relationships. I just adore the Logroños and this series so much.

I LOVED this follow-up to A DASH OF TROUBLE! Leo, her family, and her friends are delightful, and I really enjoyed coming to understand more of how her magic works, as well as the sweet ancestor-oriented plot of this one. Really lovely.

A Sprinkle Of Spirits is the magical, utterly charming sequel in the Love Sugar Magic series! When spirits begin showing up around town, Leo, her family & friends work together to solve the mystery! Filled with sweetness, adventure and inspiring messages, this is a heartfelt sequel!

It's a new year and Leo's been training more with her family now that she's learned of the Logroño legacy of bruja magic, while her best friend Caroline has been in Costa Rica to spend time with

I really love the sense of family in these books, and appreciated the discussions on grief and loss as well.

RTC when it's not 4:37 am, but the short version is this - I love this family. I love how these stories focus on feeling left out and grief and moving on and love. I love that they're all covered in sugar. I love that this made me sob like a baby. The two books in this series are genuinely so magical and pure and they just make me feel all the way good. ...more

With the second book, Meriano has made this series into a must-read for families looking for books that are empathetic and thoughtful while still offering adventure, fully-drawn characters, and strong principles without preaching. Meriano threads the needle really well, making room here for themes of grief, love, and loyalty that are surprisingly nuanced for a middle-grade novel. I was happy to see that one of the main issues here is the distance Leo's role as a bruja puts between her and her fr ...more

Mayhaps I'm completely in love with series,,, you'll never know!!

The characters continue to impress me in this installment!!! I especially loved how we got to see more of Caroline in this novel and we really get a look at some of the things that she's struggling with. The friendship between Leo and Caroline once again made me beyond happy and overly emotional!! I also really liked how this book talks about some of the harder parts of friendships and it highlights the idea that it's neces

This is one of the few series that I've been interested in since before it even came out.  So when I saw the third of this, I knew I had to snag it!  Leo has grown so much since book #1--she's getting a hang of her magic, and is learning in a more formal setting.  She's truly understanding the history of her family and how magic has been entertwined in everything that they do.  But after her last mishap--one that led to the cops being called and her shrinking a classmate--her family blames her w ...more
I preferred this book to the first one. I liked Leo a lot more than I did the first time around. There's growth and she seems to be able to make the right decisions most of the time, with some help from her abuela. But poor Isabel, who seems lovely even if she's an overly strict rule follower who doesn't have friends of her own - she's made by the family. It's irritating for Tia Paloma to roll her eyes at her rule following behavior - you lot shaped that.

There's also one important thing that ha

This is the second book in the Love, Sugar, Magic series. I didn't like this quite as much as the first book in this series but it was still very entertaining and well written. This just wasn't as humorous as the first book and there was less focus on the magical baked goods (which I really enjoyed in the first book).

Leo enjoys her new magical training but is getting pulled between demands from her family and commitments to her friends. Then when spirits start to take corporeal form, Leo is worr

Absolutely delightful.

I read the first book in this series/trilogy a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it, and I think I loved this installment even more.

We're back with Leo and all of the people we met in the first book, and this time we're gearing up for Dia de los Reyes and somehow spirits are appearing in the living world and no one knows why...queue trying to figure out how to fix it.

All of my thoughts on the first book are the same here: the writing was lovely, easy to follow and fun,

I really enjoyed this one--fantasy for kids with magical baking, friendship and family, and a bunch of restless spirits with unfinished business of a nice sort (making sure garden, piano, and family are ok!).

Hi I love these books they're so cute and make me happy.

This one had less actual baking in it, unfortunately, but I still loved Leo and her character development (how she makes herself be heard and comes up with plans and trusts herself and goes against what she's been told because she thinks it's right). As always, I love the relationship between Leo and her sisters (and the rest of her family) the most.

The audiobook is excellent and I will be listening to audio for the third book as well! (Onl

It's a delightful second book. I loved seeing Leo and her sisters working together. I like this upbeat family of brujas who are practicing magic fairly openly and benefitting the entire town in the process.

This book picks up where A Dash of Trouble leaves off. Leo has been initiated into the family "business" of creating Magical Treats. As a full-fledged Bruja, she no longer has to sneak around to do magic, but that doesn't mean life is all cinnamon, sugar, and rainbow sprinkles. Leo is having difficulty balancin

This sequel to A Dash of Trouble finds Leo initiated into the magic of her family and working at their bakery in Rose Hill. Her sisters still think she is too young and irresponsible, and also think that her friend Caroline distracts her. It's also a bit tricky that Caroline knows about the family's magic, and some of the sisters are very opposed to sharing this information with outsiders. Caroline has been visiting her deceased mother's family, and really needs to talk

A SPRINKLE OF SPIRITS is the delightful second book in the LOVE SUGAR MAGIC middle grade series. Leo is a brujita, a bruja in training, and she is eager to learn from her mother and aunt, whose powers manifest in different ways. She works at the bakery where they bake desserts with a touch of magic alongside her older sisters.

One day, she wakes up to find her deceased Abuela in the house. Although she is not sure, she assumes she m

After loving the first book so much earlier in the month, I couldn`t resist picking the sequel up soon after and I didn`t regret that decision at all. They follow a young bruja named Leo Logroño and her family, and this second book sees them trying to work out why several spirits have crossed over into the living world and return them to their rightful place. Leo and the rest of the Logroños are all amazing characters, and it was so great to get to know them better in this book, and understand w ...more
