If you can see it, you can be it! Introduce your child to your role models with this series of inspirational board books.
It's never too early to introduce your child to the people you admire! This board book distills Ruth Bader Ginsburg's excellent qualities into deliciously illustrated little baby-sized bites, with text designed to share and read aloud.
Each spread highlights an important trait, and is enhanced by a quote from RBG herself. Kids will grow up hearing the words of this influential woman and will learn what YOU value in a person!
The I LOOK UP TO . . . series aims to shine a spotlight on women making a difference in the world today, and to encourage young kids to follow in their footsteps!
As with the other books in the series, the author doesn't bother to tell us up front about who the subject is. She only tells us of the traits that we should admire in the person.
We all need role models, so let's share the positive qualities of strong women with children, shall we? This is a board book, aimed at very young children, that names the important character traits that strong women have and reveals how those important character traits have played out in the lives of strong women.
This one is a cute little board book with only 22 pages. As it’s intended for toddlers, there are very few words on each page. In fact, every other page begins with “Ruth is…” and fills the space in with smart, strong, a leader, and a feminist, followed by another page spread with a few details. It’s a great way to introduce very young children to Ginsburg.
Introduce your child to real people as well as values you admire with the I Look Up To... series!
This fantastic biography board book features Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a Supreme Court Justice who has stood up for equality and women's rights and remains a beloved icon and role model to women around the world.
We are shown Ruth's greatest personality traits and how she has made a difference in the world in a simple and understanding manner, paired with bold and colorful text, quotes, images, and backgrounds.
This inspiring board book will make a wonderful addition to your children's shelves!
“She believes the world can get better only if every person has an equal chance to learn, speak and live”. We need to share this message with every young person we know! Read this to your babies.
I was excited about reading this board book about RBG but unfortunately it didn't live up to my hopes. I especially disliked the illustration on the "Ruth is strong" page because, regardless of how strong she actually is, she is not lifting buildings and that illustration ruined the non-fiction aspect for me. I also wish that the first characteristic listed was "learner" or "listener" or "thinker" instead of "Ruth is smart" because the expanded explanation on the following page is much more about those characteristics than it is about RBG just being smart. Plus, I'd rather focus on those characteristics anyway because the book says that the reader can be like RBG and "learner" or listener" or "thinker" are skills and attributes that can be improved on and honed. Also, there are many kinds of "smart" and I think, being more specific about what characteristics make RBG who she is, would be best.
The second book I’ve read this year is a kid’s board book, and you best believe I’m going to review it! This is a beautifully illustrated and inspiring overview of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life. Kids will like the pictures and bright colors, and adults will learn something as they read it, too!
This was a big hit today. We read it at least three times in a row before bedtime, plus other readings earlier in the day. The illustrations are bright and bold, and the text is very simple. My 16-month old was very into it.
This inspiring board book could not be more perfect! I loved reading it to my little ones to celebrate the life and legacy of such a magnanimous Supreme Court Justice.
The repeating cadence--quality, explanation, quote--is an effective format. The images are well-balanced with the text, and we begin to learn some of the defining characteristics of Ruth.
I loved the story for my little one, but I did get annoyed that they put in the book that Ruth exercises. I get it, she exercises and that's why she lived to be 300 years old but I feel it was unnecessary for the story. Maybe just me.
I Look Up To... is a new very basic introductory biography board book series alternating between simple facts about the subject and quotes from them. This one focuses on Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Quick bite-sized portions of inspiration.
