A sexy romance. A twisted mystery. One mistake can change everything.

Daisy Aldridge lives in the exclusive enclave of Middleburg, Virginia, where its residents can trace their family lines back for generations. It’s always made Daisy feel like an outsider. She was left on the back stoop of Mangler Laundry as a newborn, wrapped in a baby blanket with a fresh-picked daisy tu

When at first you start reading you think it's quite a cute romance. Daisy is rescued from drunken actor by a handsome mammoth of a man who somehow makes you her feel like a normal woman for first time.
That’s how Roy Blackwood met Daisy Aldridge met for the first time. Daisy has no self-confidence, and is very nervous around men. Daisy has no idea why Roy wants to date her.
Do not be fooled as things heat up, all the secrets start to pop up, when Daisy

Daisy has led a pretty sheltered life; she never knew her birth parents as she was left on the doorstep of local business and was raised by two black sisters. They looked like an interesting family since Daisy was as white could be. Secrets in Our Scars runs through a few different storylines and in places it did feel a bit too much going on, but you did get the gist of the stories. We have Daisy and Roy's romance storyline after she met him on a movie set and he saved her from being raped. We h ...more

Secrets In Our Scars has been a tough one to rate there are a few things about it that usually would put me off a book or certainly invoke an awful lot of eye rolling but in this case I don’t seem to mind it as much. It might just be that I was in the best reading mode for this kind of book or it could be that there were so many things occurring that I was distracted away from things that would usually wind me up.

The thing that is the biggest culprit of this, of course, is the insta-

Rebecca Trogner brings the best of two worlds in Secrets in Our Scars. One minute I'm busting out laughing from one of the many funny lines and the next the temperature has risen from how steamy the scene has gotten. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the more I got into it, the more intrigued I became to get the answers everyone is seeking.

I really loved the different dynamics of these characters. Daisy Aldridge was left on a doorstep and rais

This is the first book I'm reading of Rebecca Trogner and I must say it was an amazing book. At least I as captivated by the cover and the title, they made me want to go read the blurb, and once I did I was hooked. I wanted to join in the story and learn more about the characters and their lives.

The author knows how to grab the attention of the readers and how to keep the momentum going with the suspense and the twists and turns of this plot. But to all my fellow book lovers, this book contains

I'm not often surprised by romance novels. After reading so many, the tropes and cliches tend to bleed together and while it's fun and comforting, it's also predictable. There is nothing predictable about Rebecca Trogner's "Secrets In Our Scars."

Daisy Aldridge steps through the wrong door and a close call drags up trauma she thought long buried. She's rescued by a man who seems larger than life. His muscles certainly help boost the illusion. Daisy is instantly tongue-tied with her rescuer and sh

I am generally not one to choose a book or judge it for that matter, by the cover. But, I love this cover! I have to say it is what grabbed me along with the title. Once I read the blurb I was hooked! This is the first opportunity that I have had to read a book by this author and I will definitely be looking to read more of her work in the future. Tronger knows how to grab you and keep your attention, especially during the second half of this book. For those of you that read this review or that ...more

Before I get on with my review, I would like to say just one word... Roy.
That man honestly made me remember why I love my occasional romance novel.

But, first things first.
The story starts with a delivery Daisy is making to a movie set and is nearly assaulted, until Roy heroically saves her.
And, their romance just launches from there.

At some points in the beginning, it seemed to me like Daisy and Roy's romance was almost non-existent, and at some others

It isn't a mystery that the protagonist, Daisy, has secrets. She has not had the best or most pleasant life growing up. Immediately my heart went out to Daisy. I felt like I wanted to hug her and reminder her that things would get better. She had survived a horrific (sexual) assault and lived to tell the tale. That in itself is quite a feat. Although, just surviving doesn't mean "able to live with". Daisy constantly has flash backs and little moments that keep her in fear, which I believe it to ...more

So bam, opening pages you are hit in the face with a turbulent introduction to Daisy!

We have a few different storylines in this book, so much going on to keep you going. Daisy, she doesn’t know what happened to her parents and someone leaves her gifts every year. Her grief and guilt with Charlie, and more recently her saviour Roy. Told you, a lot to get your head around these pages.

There is a lot to keep you guessing and things really are not as they seem with the different plots overlapping.
Secrets In Our Scars was good and I liked it but I had a hard time with a few things which made rating it super difficult. Though, I think 3 sums it up perfectly for me.

The story is interesting from the female protagonist, Daisy's narration as first person. She has secrets (if you can't already guess from the title) she's adamant on hiding from Roy, the handsome, well built man she's falling for. But what she doesn't know is that Roy is keeping secrets from her too. I've read romance after so l

This is one emotional story, if not because of the romance then because of the characters’ backstories. They both have issues, one is more affected by them than the other, and they both want to move forward. However, only one is willing to put the past behind completely.

Ok, just a little bit of what we have here: Roy meets Daisy “thanks” to an unfortunate event. He is the one that saves her and with that, they have a spark. From here on his intentions are clear and strong. However, her fears are

I am an avid reader of cozy mysteries so The Secrets in Our Scars by Rebecca Trogner is a bit out of my usual reading category. The mystery part of this story fed right into my love of family history and genealogy. Daisy doesn't really know who she is or where she came from. In addition she doesn't deal with a previous assault in a healthy manner. When another assault occurs Roy steps in to help and becomes a love interest. The romance sizzles in this book, with steamy sex scenes that you will n ...more

I enjoyed this story. Daisy has really no idea who she is, her biological parents are a mystery to her, and for someone who is only twenty-one, she is really hard on herself. She struggles with events from her past, and this affects her everyday life. She doesn't feel worthy of someone like Roy, and gets overwhelmed by his generosity.

I loved Daisy and Roy's characters - complicated and flawed, but so intriguing. You really feel all the emotions and frustrations of the characters throughout. Thi

I LOVED this book. It is yet another example that beauty can come from pain. Maybe my Roy will find me one day. If you weren’t sure you should read this here is my 100% recommendation this book should be read.

A solid 3 1/2 stars. This is the first book I’ve read from this author. With a bit more polish, this book could have been a solid 4–4 1-2 stars.
The storyline was intriguing enough to keep me reading, but it lagged at times.
The character building is fairly good. Though Roy’s character fell a bit short.
Overall a good read & would definitely read another book from this author.

Great story

This was a great story. I am an avid reader and usually don't read anything new. I wait for others to rate before reading. I took a chance on this book and found out to be quite the gem. I would recommend this book. There is romance with a hot dominant, but very loving make. And a slightly broken girl. There are some twist and turns you won't see coming.
