Taking the Seven Deadly Sins as the theme, travel through seven interwoven chapters that explore the motivations for people’s actions as you journey through the contemporary stories. The book starts with a tale of Pride and ends with one of Wrath. Events in the former chapter cause the main character in the latter one to have murderous intent. Between times, you will (in order) read of Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Greed and Sloth. Each consecutive chapter connects to the previous ones, in ways that may both surprise and delight the reader. You will encounter possibly the laziest person in existence, plus a variety of other vibrant characters who will leave a lasting memory. With a mainly light-hearted tinge, the seven stories of human failings are sure to enthral. Enjoy!
My word where to begin? I've had time on my hands over recent years, following early retirement, that I believe has been put to good use. My wife and I enjoy holidays, theatre and dining out, together I hasten to add; which I guess would keep most people content. Primarily though, I think I have been lucky to spend more time with my grandchildren than would otherwise have been possible. I've been able to do some not very good watercolour pantings and some cooking which has turned out to be surprisingly edible. As far as my writing is concerned; it was originally no more than a case of give it a try and see how it goes. The first chapter of my debut Captain Shoelace story was so well received by friends and family that I was encouraged to see it through to the end.
I now have three Captain Shoelace books, a thriller, a collection of short stories under my belt. Add to that my latest book "One Sin Follows Another" and you can see that I've got the writing bug.
With objectivity in mind, I managed to resist the temptation to award myself a five star rating. I think the book is really good, but not that good. I truly believe that the majority of readers will enjoy the story. Some of the characters will (hopefully) strike a chord. My wife particularly liked the characters Lorna Martinez, Edward Shine and Amelia Jacobs. As last we have agreed on something!
Rather dry recitation of sins as they snowball into murder. I did like how they fed off of the previous story, giving multiple viewpoints of events, but you feel detached from what's happening instead of involved somehow.
