I had a perfect life.

The loving husband, the sweet little boy, I even had the white picket fence.

If someone took a picture of my family, I’d be the epitome of what they envisioned for themselves. I’d smile for the camera, laugh when it was appropriate and carried on with my life like there wasn’t anything wrong.

I was happy.

But it was all a lie.

This was the 2nd book i read by this author, and i have to say i am becoming a big fan! This book had heart breaking moments and big surprises. I was shocked by what Luke revealed, but am so glad with how it ended! The story line was definitely one that will pull you in until the very end!

Watching someone’s life crumble and you can’t help is a horrible feeling .Now imagine you’re the person living in that life it’s debilitating. This Story so emotional yet crushing shows a dark side not many people people want to to see. Not everything is always what it seems ? What may look perfect isn’t always . My heart hurt . The Perfect Life by Callie Anderson is a beautifully written second chance at love. It’s a story I believe woman can relate to. Life, marriage, children, you expect it to all be perfect, unfortunately it is not. Unforeseen circumstance are bound to happen. The Perfect Life is an emotional, heartfelt, and realistic story. Everyone should read this!

Stephanie’s life drastically changed four years prior. She did the one thing she thought was best for herself and young child. Stephanie leaves her ho

This is a heartwarming and touching second chance romance. It's a story about going on a woman's journey as she rediscovers herself, learns to be at peace with herself, and finding happiness.
Stephanie has everything everything she wanted; a good marriage, a loving husband and a son, but along the way she became unhappy. Something became broken with her and doesn't know how fix it. The happy and perfect life she once knew is gone.
The writing is fabulous. I was pulled in and felt the emotions th

The perfect life...

From the beginning this book just caught my eye, I wanted to know what it was about.
This author has always written things that move me, stories full of emotions and I feel them so real.
I love how the writer took topics that today are still taboo (depression) and makes us understand a little more about it.
We are always projecting the perfect life but deep inside we are not really happy, we are not really complete and how alw

I enjoyed this sweet love story. Stephanie is on a journey to find peace, acceptance and forgiveness. Many women could probably relate to Stephanie. Sometimes we feel things that we don’t understand and that make us uncomfortable. Stephanie meets Luke and starts to find happiness again. Luke made me swoon. He was so sweet and nurturing. I rooted for them. I do think the story line was a little original. I guessed the plot. It was still a good story.

Beautiful love story... a must read

You need a box of kleenex before reading this book. Can a marriage be perfect? Everything was beautiful, loving and rainbow sunshine until the black cloud had started to roam in... The Perfect life had touched me to the core.. some chapters had sent me to the spiral down emotional ... How can such words made me cried so hard? Because some women felt like Steph did.. I did to a certain degree.. Anger and frustratation..

The Perfect Life was a good read. There were things I liked and disliked about this story but overall, I did like it and the ending was sweet. I loved Luke's character. He was sweet, caring, charming and loving. I liked Stephanie's character but the thing that bothered me a little was how much time she spent focusing on her husband Bruce's death. Sue's attitude in this story was no only hurtful, hateful and unacceptable but it was ridiculous. She hated Stephanie for years and then all of a sudde ...more

So happy with the ending of this second chance at love for steph and luke.. But if im being honest mu favorite characters in this story has to be AJ , that little boy was adorable to grown for his age lol. Certain things and situation in book made me teary and hit home for me all the more why I love callies writting . #ARC
WOW! I was very impressed with this book, and not only because it made me a snotty mess. The story could be anyone’s and that’s why it touched me so deeply. It was the ugly truth of life and I connected with the characters on a level that's very rare for me with book characters, but I know what it meant to be stuck in a vicious circle without knowing how to break out of it.
'I was in a constant tug of war between what I felt and what I should be feeling. I felt alone, hurt, and abandoned, when

A year since her last book, Callie Anderson returns to writing about a true to life young mother trying to get through the pain of losing her husband due to an accident. Although this is a standalone the story has a connection to her previous book Broken Dreams as The Perfect Life reacquaints us with Stephanie, the best friend of the BD main character. Roughly a decade later we catch up with Stephanie as she returns to Savanah after 4 years trying to escape her grief. Does this have angst writte ...more

Second chance romance

A widow reflects back on her so called perfect marriage. From an outsider looking in it appeared they had the perfect life, yet something was amiss for Stephanie.

The story alternates between the past and the present. With this being Stephanie’s story to share, it was written from her perspective not allowing for the perspective of Bruce, her husband. This is a one-sided account on how Stephanie felt alone in her marriage.

Stephanie’s character was stuck in her past unable t

I don’t believe I’ve read a Callie Anderson book before The Perfect Life. But good Lord, this woman doesn’t write an easy story does she? I had to go back and look… I have read another Anderson book, Torrid Affair. I honestly don’t recall it but after reading my review of it… it seems like the feelings I had during that book have reappeared during this book. Except, I am crushed! I feel heartbroken for these people and all I want to do is hold Stephanie. My heart ached for her right down to my c ...more

I had been anxiously awaiting for another beautiful story by none other than this wonderful author, Callie Anderson.

I will lie if I say I haven't been dying to read more from her. I absolutely fell in love with her previous books and I knew that this was going to be no different.

We meet Stephanie, a woman who is going through post-partum depression and in the process, she feels like her husband doesn't love her anymore. She's the type of woman who needs physical affection and she wasn't receivin

Having it all doesn’t equal happiness. Here is an emotional story of a woman that knows she has it all meaning she has the perfect life BUT isn’t happy. One would think she’s being selfish, maybe spoiled but you can’t help how you feel. You also can’t help how those feelings eating away at you make you think and eventually turn you into a totally different person. Losing yourself and blaming yourself also takes its toll on you. Learning to face your problems and start living is an obstacle as we ...more

“ Sometimes you need to weather the storm, go through the tough times, in order to come out alive on the other side.”

That’s one of my favorite quotes from this story. I think at times when we are weathering our storms, it’s hard to believe we will come out alive. Sometimes, we may even wonder if there will ever be a light at the end of the tunnel. I believe that Callie Anderson did a great job writing a story showing that no matter what we are struggling with, there is always a reason to fight

I love the style of this author. She has characters that you can easily relate to and situations that mimic real life. In this case guilt is a vicious bed fellow and it could be what ends this second chance for Stephanie and even for Luke. They both have to work past some major road blocks to allow themselves to love and be loved, to forgive and be forgiven. The surprises and set backs all of the revelations that will help are slow in coming but what does shine out it the perfect life for her ma ...more

The Perfect Life by Callie Anderson is a full length, standalone romance novel. And yes, youll meet characters from previous books of her.

It seems her life was picture perfect til the day evreything changed. 4 years later shes still eaten by guilt and bit by bit the story discovers her reasons. I don't think that Callie Anderson could have done a better job with this book, it's a story about love and loss and finding love again, this was a very emotional read for me as I did relate to this book and wanted to climb in it and hug Steph. she had been through more than most people could adjust, losing her husband blaming herself for four years takes a toll on a person. Blaming your self for someone else's mistake is not a good thing to do. Steph is on a journey to find herself and to love ...more

Grab your tissues, this one has some very heart felt moments where your eyes will leak and your nose will run.

Stephanie and AJ move back after 4 yrs of being "on the run". It's in quotes b/c she is running but from herself, nothing nefarious. The story jumps from present to past. At times the timeline is wonky but I'm hoping that in the final proofreading it was fixed (I received an uncorrected arc).

They way she meets Luke is sorta sweet. I mean no parent wants to go through that, but to come o

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!!

I have waited a long time to read another Callie Anderson book and as an ARC reader that was just the icing on the cake. Callie writes so beautifully. Her words and thoughts displayed crossed the pages of this story hold true depth and true unending love. The supply of heartache was inevitable but the deep endearing strength of her characters truly outshines others. I was tickled pink and blue with this earth shattering second chance l

She’s done it again. Every book of Callie’s I’ve read has always “got in my feelings” and this time with The Perfect Life, it really struck home for me. This book is so relatable on so many different levels even if you haven’t personally experienced it all. Every step in Stephanie’s emotional journey, I felt like I was right there with her. I also had a little laugh that there were Luke and Laura characters. There were just enough little twists that kept me hooked and I honestly had no idea wher ...more

This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m so glad I have found her books! This book was so good, I read it in one sitting. The story pulled me in from the first page and I was absolutely hooked until the last. When tragedy strikes Stephanie and Bruce’s marriage she doesn’t think anything can get worse, until it does. Luke became a doctor because of his sister and her illness. Is everything what it seems? Hmmm. Things heat up between characters and love happens, then falls apart. ...more

Callie Anderson never ceases to amaze me when it comes to stories that open your heart and make it bleed. There is a lot to learn about Stephanie's journey in this book. This is a heroine who ultimately is fighting for her own redemption, her happiness, loving herself, and the happiness of her little boy AJ.
And then along comes this perfect man named Luke and the sparks begin to happen. Sometimes you just can't run away from fate. Their path is one with ups and downs that really touch your heart

This book was phenomenal!! This book was the perfect amount to angst and sweetness, I feel like this book broke my heart then by the end put in back together. Stephanie's story is so inspiring, she went through so much but in the end she cam out stronger, I love that Callie didn't sugar coat her issues with her mental health or rush her and Luke's love story it, it made it so much more realist and enjoyable to read.
Thank for the amazing read.

The Perfect Life was a beautifully written emotional Journey for Stephanie.  We experience all kinds of pain in this life even thou we want to envision perfection with no ups and downs.  Stephanie navigates thru what she once thought was perfect to find herself from the brokenness of what once was. The pain of guilt, shame, disappointment, feeling less than, heartbreak, and loss to gaining strength, finding friendship, hope, forgiveness, love and rebuilding. The Perfect Life by Callie Anderson is a second chance romance. This book gutted me. Callie Anderson has wrote yet another story that shreds your heart. Did I mention that I loved every minute of it! After reading this author's 2 other books, Invisible Love Letters and Endless Love Letters, which books will forever be etched in my mind, I was alittle disappointed. This book was good but was not the level of good as the other 2 books.
First, it felt rushed.
2nd - a bit on the unbelievable side. Like when AJ was missing and they found him hours later. AJ is 6 - he was found on Luke's boat. A boat that took her 27 minutes to drive to and when asked how he got there - he responded "he walked". He

Good read. I struggled with my feelings for this book. This is a terrible thing for anyone to go through and then trying to rebuild your life after. Steph and Aj were strong and I loved Luke. This story was beautifully written and I love that is wasn’t instalove. That there was a lot of reflection, emotions and feelings involved from Stephanie. My heart went out to Luke. He was a stand up guy!! Great read with lots of steaminess.
