Professor Kisaragi creates a cute android named Cutie Honey and sends her to an all girls school for her education. When he is killed by an evil organization, Panther Claw, Cutie Honey swears revenge!

My dive into the early days of manga continues with Cutie Honey. If I was looking for a manga that perfectly illustrates the differences between Japanese and American comics of the early 1970s, this is it!

Cutie Honey is an android that resembles a cute teenage girl. Thanks to Professor Kisaragi's ai

What a bizarrely entertaining manga. About an android named Honey Kisaragi (aka Cutie Honey) who becomes a magical-girl-like superhero. In order to change here form and costume, unlike many manga of similar genre, Cutie Honey has to become naked in the posses. This manga could be considered erotica and despite it's female protagonists and antagonists it's was targeted towards teen boys. Overall, I thought the humor was funny with manly girls at an all-girls' school, weird lesbian undertones, and ...more

While this is definitely sexist and outdated in a lot of ways - unwanted touching played off as humor, mostly - it is still easy to see why it was such an influential book and is worth reading as a piece of manga history.

I have long loved classic manga and anime. When a new edition of an older manga comes out you can bet that I am first in line for a copy. Obviously, I jumped on the chance to read Cutie Honey: The Classic Collection by Go Nagai. Cutie Honey is a lot of things. In one sense it’s a magical girl manga. In another it’s a sci-fi manga. It’s a mystery story. There’s violence, nudity, and sexual themes. And I loved every second of it.

Professor Kisaragi is the creator of an android he’s raised as his ow

I was quite excited to find out that Seven Seas Entertainment was going to release the original Cutie Honey manga - and this release doesn't disappoint. With occasional full color pages and all of the typical Go Nagai off-color humor, this certainly isn't a release for everyone. There's toilet humor, lesbianism as humor, and, well, Go Nagai's art...can be something else. It's juvenile, to put it mildly, and I think for readers used to high production, super slick art styles, it would be extremel ...more

Good on Seven Seas for not censoring this manga. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.
