I'm kinda on the fence about whether this is a 3 star or 3.5 star read but since it did hold my interest I will round up. Maisey receives a phone call that her mom is in a coma and her father might be charged with abuse and neglect. She races to her childhood home in Washington with her daughter and attempts to figure out what the heck is going on and why her father was trying to destroy family records. As Maisey digs around for answers she discovers she has a long lost sister.

When I first started Whisper Me This by Kerry Anne King I was speeding through it and expected to really like it, unfortunately it ended up falling a little short of the mark for me.
In Whisper Me This Maisey has never quite lived up to her mother's expectations. She has held a series of dead-end jobs, and has never gotten married - two things that her mom desperately wanted for her to change. When Maisey finds out her mom is in a coma and her dad might be charged with abuse ...more
I knew this book was about all sorts and types of domestic violence. I once upon a time lived through several abusive relationships, so I wanted to see how this book handled it. (It was a free book, thank heavens.)
1) Do NOT have a character come to bury her mother, take care of a father with the beginning states of dementia, and by day two talk about your tingly bits feeling something for someone you just met a day ago. Girl, you're crazy.
2) Do not allow your 12-yea ...more
First I'd like to say that I love the cover of this book and that Kerry Ann King, like me, is from Canada and I love supporting Canadian authors as much as possible.
More than just a family drama, this novel is packed with secrets, betrayals and deception. This book is a well written enthralling story, with excellent character development, which takes the reader through the emotional effects of domestic violence. And while I liked the character of Tony and believe that his story was an ...more
I chose WHISPER TO ME for my July free Amazon Prime book and probably wouldn’t have read it otherwise. I tried not to let that affect my review.
At its heart, WHISPER TO ME is about domestic violence, how it affects the victims and children, as well as the choices those children make when they become adults.
Maisey’s mother may not have technically been abusive, but she suffered the trauma of an emotionally abused child and carries that with her into adulthood. Most of the characters are ...more
It's about domestic violence & family problems. More on fiction, not mystery.

I really loved the story but just a fair warning, it talked about domestic violence/abusive relationships.
The story revolved on Maisey; her personal struggles with the father of her child, the death of her mother, and an investigation against her father who's showing early signs of dementia.
I admired how this book shown such strong female characters. I loved how Maisey and Leah did everythin ...more
Family drama and a bit of mystery as Maisey learns secrets and lies after she is called back to her childhood home. I loved Elle and Tony, Mia and the Dad. I also loved a few supporting characters that pop up later in the book. I like how the secrets flow out slowly as realization of Maisey's current life also come into focus. It's a good story ...more
On the good side, the descriptions of trauma and its aftermath are good. This book doesn't shy away from dissecting the ugliness of learning how to break free and recover from abusive relationships. I really appreciated thi ...more
This has a lot of turns and twists. Don't think I ever figured out any of. When I thought I had Tony figured our, plot twist, again out of left field. Really inventive plot. The family dynamic was sick! A lot if drinking along with abuse A must read
I felt it was imperative to post the above warning because I found it exceedingly difficult to finish this book. By the time I was about three-fourths of the way through it, I had to take medication to prevent an anxiety attack. I suppose I ...more
