This third book in the Cozy Corgi Mysteries series is enjoyable and a fun light read, but it's not my favorite of the series so far. The mystery is compelling and there are suspects galore, but in contrast to the first two books, Fred and Watson have no personal connection to the victim, so it was a bit harder to get really invested in the plot.

I like how the character development continues here and we get more insights into the quirky interesting people in Fred's circle of friends and fellow s

Fred and Watson are on the case – 4.5 stars

“…a bull elk stared at me from less than thirty feet away, its seemingly limitless pointed antlers forming a crown above its head…it huffed a steaming breath and then moved on, only then did I notice another five or six farther back in the trees.”

This is why I keep going back to Mildred Abbott’s Corgi cozy books. I’m enamoured with Estes, Colorado. Bookshop owner Fred and her sidekick Corgi, Watson, are back at their antics. Fred has finally opened her

2018 is off to a great beginning thanks to Mildred Abbott.
Leave it to Mildred Abbott to draw us in again to the Cozy Corgi and Winifred’s world with another great read.
At last Fred’s book store, named of course, after her Corgi sidekick Watson is ready to open. Seeing the shop through the eyes of strangers, Fred falls a little more in love with it and again realizes that her ‘reset’ was perfect timing. The bakery on the upper level is filled with butter and vanilla rich pastries and coffees to o

The Mysteries Continue...

This is a part of the series about the adventures of the main character as she starts her life over. In previous books her life was disrupted by divorce and a business partnership that went south. One would be devastating to deal with but both situations combined with the death of her father led to her decision to move closer to her mother and family. The author grew up reading Nancy Drew Mysteries as I did. She's created believable characters and all those relationships

4.25 Stars! Somehow I’ve become addicted to cozy mysteries. Fred has opened her bookshop along with Katie and her baked goods upstairs. Of course, another dead body shows up and Katie jokes that if you hang with Fred...they’ll keep popping up. What I enjoyed about book three is Leo plays a bigger part in this story. And I kinda love him! He seems so sincere, animal loving and shares the same interests as Fred. Branson...on the other more pragmatic and sometimes a Debbie Downer. Though ...more

Passion or obsession

Another great read. Her bookstore and the upstairs bakery's opening is a success. Although the Bird Club and her two suitors have managed to tarnish the glow a little. Joining the Bird Club's evening venture in the national park ends when one of the members is found dead. Where his rantings about poachers the reason for his demise or was there another one? Being warned against investigating has raised the hackles of both women. Especially with the way she is treated by one o

Bickering Birds by Mildred Abbott
Fred (Winifred) and her corgi Watson are back in their bookshop Cozy Corgi trying to solver another murder. This third book in the series is full of puzzles to be solved and I’m sad to say I didn’t do well at guessing the killers. Not proud of myself, I was too involved in reading about Watson the corgi and remembering my own little girl who gave me such joy. One of the reasons I love this series is my love of corgis as well as my love of books. I hope Mildred Ab

Fun, cozy read

This book was such fun to read. The third in the Cozy Corgi Mysteries, we find Fred and Watson again in the thick of things, after a night of in the woods turns up not endangered birds, but a dead body. Forbidden by the sheriff, and possible love interest, to get involved, Fred can't seem to help herself.
Fred and Watson seem to find clues to this case with ease. Clues to how to navigate her own personal life - not so much.
I really enjoyed this book. The pace was great and the plo

I loved this book! I did not know this was the third book in this series going in. But I wasn't confused at all, I do plan to go back and read the other two books as soon as I have some free time. I loved the twist at the end that I never seen coming. I also Loved the mystery that had my head spinning. I never see it coming. I am looking forward to reading the first 2 books to get caught up on characters, I also cant wait for book 4. I am addicted to these now... This book is must read guys. I a ...more

Bickering Birds is book three in the series. each one stands alone. These little mysteries are set in a scenic little town in Estes Colorado, filled with quirky characters and lots of fun to read.
In Bickering Birds, Winifred (Fred) and her sidekick Watson (her Corgi) are once again pulled into a murder case.when a member of the Bird club is killed.

Watson Saves The day

Bird smugglers? Is it possible that Leo is right about birds being smuggled or is he just paranoid? Fred and Katie are interested in the local bird watching group, with the usual results of murder. Fred has opened her book shop with Katie ensconced upstairs baking wonderful treats, including some for Watson. The characters are becoming more real and detailed with every book. A delight to read.
Watson does it again!

Ok, so Fred actually figured out "whodunit", but Watson stole my heart in yet another way. This little Corgi is so much like my beloved American Cocker Spaniel it's uncanny. The storyline is good, but there were too many suspects for it to work as well for me this time. Still looking forward to the next episode.

Third Is Charming

The more I read about Fred, Watson and the rest of the Estes Park residents, the more I look forward to the next visit. Even the, not so likeable characters are growing on me. I'm sure this is author Abbott's fiendish plot. I'm going to dive into Savage Sourdough in short order.

I love finding new authors especially ones that include a mystery. An added touch was Watson the corny. I loved the entire book and the two before it. I look forward to reading more about Watson and his side kick. Great job!

Reading the Cozy Corgi series is pretty much all you need to know about Mildred. In real life, she’s obsessed with everything she writes about: Corgis, Books, Cozy Mountain Towns, and Baked Goods. She’s not obsessed with murder, however. At least not at her own hands (nor paid for… no contract killing here). But since childhood, starting with Nancy Drew, trying to figure out who-dun-it has played ...more
