Love is a dangerous game. That’s what people say, anyway. Me? I want real danger. Real risks. 100 on the freeway isn’t fast enough for me. Being on stage in front of thousands wasn't enough of a thrill. I’m only alive when my life is on the line. But one false move has me hurt. Broken. Trapped.
I was handling it fine until she showed up to help me. That body under that nurse’s outfit? Kill me now. Loving her is the biggest rush I’ve ever felt. It’s the only one I want. And I can't get her out of my head. I've got one night to convince her to take on the biggest risk of her life. Me.
Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.
After five years of writing romance under a penname, Theresa finally decided to own up to how she was spending her all time. Her mother now knows all about the kinds of books she writes. She reacted more positively to it than Theresa expected.
Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her husband, twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.
Gabe was a bit more complex than first thought. I found that interesting.
There is a lot of disappointment in this book. I hate serials done where there are so secondary characters, some who seem to be brought forward for subsequent books and others who briefly appear but just didn't have to be in the book.
There was missing a lot of Everly. Her spunk with that old car and how she took charge in Gabe's rehab. It seemed there could of been more trickery and personalities brought out but rehab went too fast. Maybe the whole book could of been longer. This is 3.5 stars. Good premise but not execution.
Gabe King, rock star, daredevil and adrenaline addict. Everly Foster, ordinary, plain, invisible. Until one fateful night and a kiss in the dark that lingers long after the lights come back on. It lingers after Everly goes back to being invisible and Gabe returns home to heal after a daring stunt gone wrong. That kiss still hovers, just out of reach in the back of Gabe's mind, the woman a mystery in an gossamer memory. It’s not until Everly starts working as his nurse and Gabe kisses her (accidentally of course) that he realizes Everly is his mystery girl.
I fell in love with the boys from this author's Wreckage series and loved Jonah's story in the first book of this series, so I was eager to read Gabe's story. For the most part, I adored Gabe. I loved that he truly saw the strong, intelligent, compassionate Everly when all of her life, even with her parents, she had been ignored. Even before he knew she was his mystery woman Gabe had an appreciation and respect for Everly. I loved the connection they had, how the pieces of one fit the other perfectly and how they brought out the best in each other. I lost a little respect for Gabe at a critical point, but his behavior was consistent with his personality. While he could have saved them both some heartache had he not sabotaged things, I really wasn’t surprised, and the resolution was tender and heart felt and definitely made up for the conflict. In the manner I’ve come to expect, Ms. Lux delivers a compelling, emotional story that is a little steamy, a little humorous and full of heart that captivated me from the first sentence to the last. This book is definitely worth a 1-Click, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
*I reviewed this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
All they had was one kiss, but that kiss stayed with both of them in different ways. Gabe was a junkie, first pills then adrenaline. Anything to make his veins pulse. When a stunt went horribly wrong and he is stuck at home to recover he finds a new addiction. Everly was literally the girl next door. Although she was quiet and shy so she always went unnoticed, until she was hired to be his nurse. He then started to notice her in ways that he hasn't any woman in years. Once he remembered she was the girl he kissed that night things were good. Then he had to decide between the rush of the woman he loved or the rush of the adrenaline from doing stunts. Out of fear of losing her he selfishly pushed her away, which broke her heart. It took him saving her from drowning when she was trying to save him for them to realize that they needed each other. Life is an adventure
Gone but not forgotten, a night Gage has engraved on his mind but the woman's face is getting hazier and hazier the more time goes by. Convinced his heart is just as ruined as his body now is, there's no one that can open him to love and loss again. Except maybe her, the woman who kissed him delirious and ran out into the night before he got her name. The woman herself is convinced she's not memorable. While she hasn't forgotten that night, every other day is a reminder that she's utterly forgettable, invisible even. An accident, a job, a bond. They are what the other needs but it'll take a lot more than feelings to keep them together.
There are quite a few issues that keep them from having a true relationship. Gage is an adrenaline junkie, a recovering addict, a stubborn jerk sometimes, and in a place in his life and career that spell huge change. Everly is struggling for acceptance, love, visibility. She doesn't want to sacrifice her life for those things but she doesn't really believe she can have it all so she chooses what she can control. When they find everything they think they need together it's Gage's job and her insecurities that might see them fail before they can make anything between them strong enough to withstand it all.
I liked both Gage and Everly. Their connection had humor, passion, compassion, understanding, and genuine affection. Despite the difficulties keeping them apart and their vulnerabilities getting in the way of their forever, they have awesome potential. When they're first getting to know one another I loved that Gage's usual antics didn't phase Everly. She had fire and knew what she was doing, those things combined meant that Gage got on the right track for true physical recovery. My heart ached every time I saw Everly being completely overlooked by everyone. And when Gage saw her it was real. He really, completely saw her, acknowledged her presence, gave her the visibility she craved.
That's probably why it hurt so much when he decided that no decision would be his course. It showed his immaturity and fear and while I can understand why he did it and where he was coming from, it didn't make it any more palatable. His indecision almost cost him the best thing to ever love him. It's a good thing Everly cared for him so much that even if he was willing to let them go, she was fiercely protective of his recovery. And Mother Nature sure seems determined to bring them back together when their pride separates them. I can only imagine what kind of natural disaster is in store for Beau.
The Second Book in the Kings Of Crown Creek! Gabe's story! The adrenaline junky with more bumps to the head than necessary is dealing with more than just a painful recovery at his parents home in Crown Creek! Especially when his brother Jonah hires the girl next door and soon to be a nurse to take care of his surly behind. Everly, her take no crap attitude may just what Gabe needs to get out of his funk- he knows her from somewhere, yeah she is his neighbor, but there is a spark there he cannot place. Everly needs this job, pay off the every mounting debt college is providing her with, working as Gabe King's nurse, well that could be interesting.. as long as he doesn't remember the past it shouldn't be awkward. Always feeling like the outcast, the one not seen or heard, being with the cocky pain loving, fear eating, wanting to please her Gabe is a breath a fresh air thought she'd have. Is all it all to good to be true for them both? Did bringing them together come to the realization they would have to be torn apart? AWE! Be still my squishy heart; I wanted to throttle, squeeze to almost death, pat heads and tell both Gabe and Everly it would be Okay! GAH! The second book, is a high flying, fast moving emotional war zone! I was pretty much right there along with the strong characters as they battled with themselves and each other. Watching the frustratingly heartbreaking to downright sweet and sensually divine heat producing moments- woo! I could do nothing else but read and swipe! An engaging storyline that has me hooked! These have wormed their way into my heart! I am looking forward to Beau's story. ( I have a feeling thats going to be interesting! )
Gabe King , if you read the prequel to this series you know all about his downfall, a ratchet two-timing Noelle, he is a recovering addict who now is a daredevil adrenaline junkie. He made my heart hurt when he hurt, he is such a likable guy. So he is doing Daredevil, Stunt videos and has his own show, but he is injured like really serious, and can't do anything but stew and rehash the jump that almost took him out. His brothers tired of him decided to help by paying for a nurse to help him get to therapy and do everyday tasks. Everly has lived next door the the Legendary King's brothers all her life, and totally crushed on Jonah, She is a nursing student, who is almost invisible, her parents don't really care or support her, She is a super sweetheart that is so down to earth, she puts everything in her school work, She is asked to be Gabe's nurse, I mean she needs the money. Everly, I love her character she is a spitfire but then vueranbile, so is so real and has the sweetest soul. She the perfect person to nurse Gabe back together not only from the fall but from what Noelle put him through. I loved this read, I read it everywhere, I could not and, wouldn't put it down. Gabe was so closed off but when he finally opened up, swoon , "come back as my girl" I got tingles. A great read so glad these two moved forward instead of holding each other back. I am so ready for Beau and Rachels book. I happily read this amazing story to share my thoughts.
This is the second book in the Kings of Crown Creek, and it is Gabe and Everly's story.
Oh Gabe! He is an adrenaline junkie, and he has the concussion, broken ribs and broken ankles to prove it. After a stunt goes terribly wrong, Gabe finds himself back in his childhood home to recover. When the insurance company refuses to pay for a home health nurse, his brother takes control. He goes next door and hires a young neighbor who is also in nursing school. Enter Everly. Her no take crap attitude is just what Gabe needs. What starts out as an attraction soon grows into something more. Gabe nor Everly are not the type to keep their opinions to themselves, so there are a lot of fights between them. What will happen when Gabe no longer needs a nurse and wants to return to his reckless ways ?
I felt a plethora of emotions while reading this books. At times, I was frustrated and wanted to give them both a swift kick in the butt. Then there were other times when I couldn't help but swoon when they would say and do such sweet things to one another.
A super engaging story that will draw you in from beginning to end.
“Why would I break up with you?” “Because I was about to leave to start filming King of Pain again.” “When?” I couldn’t see her face, but I could hear the horror in her voice. I was the biggest piece of shit on the planet. “Tomorrow.” “What the fuck? Gabe! Are you seriously going back to doing that daredevil shit?”
“I won’t go,” I declared. “Of course you will,” she said. “But not tomorrow.” “What?” “Can you give me ’til I re-take my boards?” “Everly?” Hope thudded in my chest. “If you’re gonna risk yourself like that, you’re gonna need a nurse. I’ll come with you once I have my license.”
So far, I had loved Everly's backbone. But right now, she has lost all my respect. She is basically giving him permission to go throw himself off cliffs, and endanger himself once more. When doing so almost killed him once already. How stupid is she, that she believes allowing him to do so again is right by any means.. ?
And that was a really bad episode. I ended up hating Rachel. Her attitude changed, not for the better.
Gabe King lives his life on the edge, one daredevil stunt at a time, until his luck runs out and he comes crashing back to earth in spectacular fashion. Now he is laid up in bed at his childhood home, with more broken bones than he can count even needing assistance to take a bath. Who better to help nurse him back to health than his next door neighbour, nurse Everly.
Gabe can sense a deja vu around her, but not until their sexual chemistry reaches boiling point does he remember a shared steamy kiss one long lost night. Their growing and blossoming relationship was great to witness and the fact that they both had to overcome obstacles in their life made them much stronger together. I am loving all the King brothers and the women who claim their hearts. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series, and is Gabe and Everly’s turn. Gabe is a rock star, daredevil and adrenaline junkie, who is seriously injured when a stunt does not pan out, and ends up going back to his hometown to recover. Gabe’s brother hires the shy and introvert nurse next door to aid his recovery. No spoilers; this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed! This talented author has written a beautiful story which is heartbreaking, emotional, sweet, and a rollercoaster ride, all which had me totally hooked and enthralled throughout. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, and I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers!
Gabe is the adrenaline junkie of the King brothers. He is always looking for that next fix that doing dangerous stunts gives him. However, his most recent one didn't go as planned and he is home broken and bruised but alive. He is in need of a nurse which is where we meet Everly Foster who is a shy girl next door.
This story was explosive on so many levels. It was a story of a broken man and a lonely woman who is always overlooked. This accident forces Gabe to take a look at his life and see if it is going the way he wants it too. I loved the change that happened with Everly as her confident grew with a strong supporter in her corner.
Book two of the Kings of Crown Creek series. Told in dual POV with HEA. Each book in the series is about a different King brother. Gabe is an addict his latest addiction is adrenaline, he does stunts for a TV show called King of Pain. A stunt gone wrong has him stuck in a hospital bed recovering from an almost fatal injury. Everly the invisible girl next door is hired to be his at home nurse. I liked that Gabe was committed to his recovery and how he and Everly shared an intense connection. Even though Gabe was hurt in a past relationship he didn’t let that stop him from going all in with Everly. It felt like Gabe “got” Everly and they were perfect for each other.
Sexy, steamy, sweet and emotion filled, this book will leave you breathless as you experience the incredible passion and chemistry between Gabe and Everly. I loved how these two just fit so perfectly together and made each other better people. Complex storyline, that's well written and developed, layered characters engage and keep your interest. A plot that offers plenty of emotions, drama and heat. A wonderful book and a great addition to this series. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.
I love these King brothers! This was a great read. The writing flowed well, and I loved Gabe and Everly together. They had great chemistry. I found myself relating to Everly. Gabe did a good job bringing her out of her shell, and letting her know that she was heard. I think Everly was good for Gabe because she grounded him. There was some drama that almost broke them apart, but they were both too stubborn to let it last for long :) I can't wait to find out what happens with Beau! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the story of Gabe and Everly. Vivian has a way with her writing that transports you into her book and make you feel the things the characters do. I know it’s amazing book when that happens and every book I have read from her this happens. I felt every emotion, the anger and the love. Well developed storyline and characters. Loved everything about this and the ending made me smile. Looking forward to the next one.
I voluntarily read this as an advanced readers copy.
Gabe is a former rockstar and now a daredevil. When he gets hurt he has to come home to heal where his family hires him a home nurse and that they know from.next door. Everly is a shy quiet woman who thinks that no one sees her. She is working to be nurse. When the sparks fly between her and Gabe will they give into.or leave it.professional. They Both have to make decisions that may keep them apart. When old and new doubts come up will they both be able to handle what's to.come loved it couldn't put it down. Love the characters and all the emotions you feel when your read it.
No one notices Everly—even her parents, unless she’s not doing what they want her to. Especially not Jacob, the guy she always had a crush on. He’s found the woman he wants and Everly is still invisible. Until she kisses Jacob’s brother Gabe. Gabe, whose fiancée cheating with their manager ended their band. A kiss that neither of them can forget, even though he doesn’t know who she is. Now Everly is nursing him after another of his stunts went wrong and he definitely sees her. And wants her. Great story. Hoping Beau and Rachel are next!
This book was okay but my reflections are probably due to my own opinions. Not my opinions about the writing but my opinions about the content. I personally do not like losing control for any reason, so the thought of a loss of control, for any reason, does not appeal to me. I also am not a fan of daredevil sports. So with those things in mind, if you are OK with these topics, the book is probably right for you. It just wasn’t right for me.
This is the second book in the King's of Crown Creek Series. It can be read as a standalone but you should read the prequel and book one to where you can fall madly in love with the King's. Love Gabe and Everly Love how Gabe helps Everly come out of her shell and how Everly cares for Gabe. A great hot read. Can't wait to read more of the King brother's.
Loved this story of the adrenaline junky King, Gabe. Every, the girl next door, has grown up and is studying to be a nurse. How convenient that Gabe needs a nurse after smashing into a canyon wall filming his reality show. They both have issues to work through and at the end of the day, they need each other.
**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Floved this story of Gabe & Everly! This picks up right after the previous book. The risk-taking former rockstar King brother is a broken man, literally recovering from his latest stunt. And now he needs someone to help nurse him back to health. Enter the girl next door & nurse in training Everly Foster. She's constantly overlooked by those around her & the one night run in with Gabe a few months back is no different. Only little does she realize that he in fact does remember & now he's not gonna let her disappear again! He thought he could never love again but she's the woman to heal his body & heart. A bit of a second chance romance essence. Just loved everything about this book & the mini hints as to who the next couple is! Laughs, tears, frustration & swoons that will have you wanting more! Would recommend! :D
Great book. Gabe is the daredevil of the family. He has show pushing himself to the limits. Until he has a bad accident enter the girl next door everly to take care of him as a personal nurse which start their relationship. They are cute together, she sees the real him and he actually sees her, she doesn't feel invisible.
Love Gabe & Everly's story!!!! Both the H & h are battling their own internal issues. I love how they help Each other grow and overcome. You get to briefly catch up with the rest of the King clan as well. As always Vivian Lux keeps you interested!! Sweet and sexy story!
Oh my Lord was this book so good. I couldn't stop reading it once I started it was hard to put down. I loved these characters Gabe & Everly you couldn't help but fall in love with them. I most definitely would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book couldn't stop reading an exciting story a very emotional romance well written great characters definitely a great story in this series I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Gabe is a rock star who lives for the thrill taking risks, until one jump gone wrong lands him in the hospital, where he meets Everly. I enjoyed this book very much - the wild child bad boy rocker finds his girl who centers him. It was a tough, sexy read.
I've been waiting for another King book, and Gabe's story didn't disappoint! I loved he and Everly's story. Loved how the brother's life mixes in. But this time, I'm smarter about these King boys. This time I'm pre-ordering the next book!
3 1/2* Gabe unfortunately gets injured trying to get his adrenaline fix he’s not been the same since the same since the king brothers split. Everly is hired as a nurse to help him heal but will he see her & remember her? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. A true fix
I'm absolutely in love with this series! Gabe and Everly do not disappoint. Their story had me so pulled in that I didn't want to put it down. I love the way they play off each other. The sweet, the pain, the sizzle! Amazing story and I'm ready to dig in to more!
