This is the first book by Kristin Ping that I have read. That's all it took for me to become addicted! OMG I cannot wait for the next book. Paranormal fans this is a must read! #witches #vampires #wolves Immortal had me on the edge and left me begging for more. I don't leave spoilers. I recommend this book to all not just paranormal readers. Kristin did a amazing job of drawing me into the story, her writing just flowed and I couldn't turn the page fast enough. You won't be disappointed.

I could not put this book down, I loved everything about it and I wasn’t sure I was going to even like it when I first opened it up and looked through it noticing it went back and forth within time. Most books that I’ve read that do that, they just don’t work. They get all jumbled up and I end up losing characters between chapters and things get lost whether it’s part of the plot, characters, ideas and theories... But with this book, I LOVED everything about it. The timeline worked! It was amazi ...more

I had high hopes for this book & I was only mildly disappointed. I felt that the backstory could have been filled out a bit more, but at the same time the unknowing made for better reading. The characters could use a little more fleshing out in my opinion. The author or editor could have done a better job at making sure the reader knew which point of view they were reading. For these reasons I knocked off a star in the review. The plot line seemed to jump all over the place in some areas, but t ...more

I gave it 3.5 stars

I was both intrigued and annoyed after reading IMMORTAL.

IMMORTAL read like a Novella to me. It seemed like we were learning someone's past and that we should have known their future already, maybe? Natasha was super interesting to me. I didn't always like her, but by the end of the book I only wanted to know more.

The plot was a little all over the place, but it only made me want to keep reading. The pacing is fast and there is a lot of action. This story isn't bunnies and rain

I remembered the world this was set in from a novella I've read a while ago, Forbidden by Adrienne Woods.
There are so many threads that intertwine in this one, and so much confusion because of this. There were many questions answered by the end of the book but it took some brain power to connect everything.
I would really want to know what happens in the next books since the end was open.

At first, I struggled to get into the story, probably because it started out with terminology I had no idea about, but the more I started reading the more I got entranced into the story of Sophia and then Blaze. I enjoyed the fresh new vibe surrounding vampires and immortality. There were hidden references to other 'famous' works, which I will let you find out for yourself. The story was fresh to the genre, but I would have liked to find out more about Natasha's past and see more happy endings t ...more

Just a Vampire...lol,not this time! This book is amazing.Natasha aka Blaze,is a vampire with a special ability to channel fire. She is THE supernatural's equivalent of our Boogeyman! In this book you get hybrids, vampires, werewolves and fey. And to pull it all together you get a love story bathed in blood. If paranormal is your genre this book is for you! Immortal: Guardian of Monsters is not your average vampire novel. Immortal is not even your average vampire, witch, and werewolf novel. This novel has its action packed moments, but it is also full of a lot of reflection by the main character, Natasha aka Blaze. Natasha starts life off as a human, but there is something driving her to become an immortal. She never shares this reason with anyone, but she allows it to drive her. She strives to be the best of the Nightlings, but she’s not. The nigh ...more

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Immortal: Guardian of Monsters is a supernatural fantasy novel which revolves around Natasha, a vampire who has a special ability to control fire, an element which typically destroys her kind. She is a member of a coven which is run by her lover who basically uses her as a killer for hire. I wasn't sure what the guardian in the title was referring to because she wasn't doing much guarding. Immortal was a good read, but I wish I could say it was an awesome read.

The story started out steady with different points of view, but... it was hard to tell whose POV. For example, one chapter belongs to Sonia because it stated so, but the next chapters does not state so until you read the first sentences or paragraph, so if the new chapters do not state who the POV belongs to just assume that they belong to the current character until stated otherwise. Character-wise, they were not as in-dep

This was such a sad story about Natasha’s life. Natasha has a need to be turned into a vampire. She has to live forever. But as soon a Cassandra, the coven leader, turns her she can’t remember her previous life. Cassandra has wiped her memories in order to use her because Natasha has special ability. Flames come out of her hands and she can torch anything. For years and years Cassandra uses her, and turns her into an unfeeling killing machine. She kills werewolves and even other vampires if she ...more

Natasha needs to become a vampire, but after she is turned she does not remember the reason. As the years pass after her turning, she becomes less and less of who she used to be and more fearsome and dangerous to those around her. Her powers make everyone scared, and people are afraid that if they get close to her, they will meet a very unwanted and violent end. This fear means that she does not have very many true or strong connections to other people. Until someone comes to her master looking ...more

Natasha needs to become vampire. She is not a good candidate right up until she displays an affinity for fire. Then her tormentor and coven leader turns her, and her memory of being human is gone. Twisted and sadistic, her fire gains her an awful reputation as she targets the wolves and steals their children for her maker to build an army. When 2 hybrids come to the covenant, her reign of terror is but a memory to her as she has retreated into herself after a traumatic occurrence. With freedom w ...more

Amazing Debut Novel!

This long awaited book definitely didn't disappoint! The world that the author has created is unique and very interesting. You've got vampires, werewolves, djinn, witches, and halflings called Varcolacs. I loved how the werewolves are described and could picture them so clearly in my head. While the story is told from several different viewpoints and goes back and forth between the past and present, it flowed really well and was easy to follow. Natasha, known as Blaze or Fire

Really different vampire story -3.8 stars

This book was pretty good and I'd have given it four stars if not for the edfiting. There were words missing and words not removed in some sentences where the author had put in two verbs to see which one read best but one was underscored out. I found missing words, usually a or and. Really the story wasn't bad but it did need better editing. I'd also have shortened some of the parts where she is giving up. Parts if they were overkill and could have been s

let me start off by saying this is not my normal genre. To be honest I don't typically like fantasy novels with vampires or werewolves but I think Kritin Ping has changed that for me. This story kept me glued to it and I found myself being sympathetic to the characters anytime any tragic happened. The story telling is a bit simplistic at times but I am one who really enjoys deep detail. For the majority of the time that desire for details was filled. I was captivated all the way to the end and c ...more

Kristin Ping is a fairly new author to me and if the rest of her stories are like this one then I will be doing a lot more one clicking, this is book 1 of the Guardian of Monsters and I hope that there is going to be a book 2 coming out soon. Natasha was turned into a vampire she has not only the power of the vampire she could also create fire, all paranormal’s are scared of her and she is given the name Blaze. Natasha does a bad thing and she just wants to die but her maker Cassandra won’t let ...more

This book has a new unique spin on the vampire, werewolves and supernatural world. I had never read anything quite like this, and for that I really liked it. Full of action and told through memories it is a page turner. I did have some doubts on how gullible the main character Natasha could be, too naive for someone portrayed as being so cruel. While it seems to be the beginning of a series it can be read as a stand alone, that being said, I'm not sure if I would read any follow ups in this worl ...more

Natasha decides to leave the the coven, but her coven leader, and for a long time lover, is not known for being selfless or particularly loving, and may not let her go easily.

Kristin Ping's Immortal: Guardian of Monsters is the type of book you can't put down. Following the story of Natasha, and a past she can't remember that may or may not have made her into the being she has become - Kristin's storytelling draws you into the characters and gets you invested in what they are going through. I was disappointed it was over when I reached the end and can't wait for the next instalment.

This is a very dark story with lots of pain and loss. Natasha is the main character and as the story goes you start to put together who she is and her past. She doesn’t remember her past and has been only given lies. It seems the moment she starts to remember or even find a moment of happiness death shows up. So many people both good and bad will die. The story does get confusing at times as it jumps around front he past to the present. Don’t expect any happiness in this story. If there is a boo ...more

I was so sad when this book ended! At first, it was a little difficult to keep up with the different POVs and what was going in exactly, but once I figured out the pace of the book, I was engaged. The author has a way of making you fall in love with the characters, even in their darkest moments. This book is fast paced and cam easily be read in an afternoon(which is what I did). I highly recommend it for fans of dark fantasy and vampire stories.

Natasha must become a vampire. She won't tell anyone why. The stoy follows Natasha "Blaze" through her life as a vampire. We also see Natasha through her friend, Sonia, as the story moves back and forth from the present to the past. This was an amazing story with wonderful characters. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next in the series. The cover is really beautiful in a dark and scary way!

I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
