4 stars for the latest in the Cozy Corgi Mystery series. I like when Fred has to solve a mystery for a close friend or family member because she is really vested in the outcome and I enjoy the personal connection. In this case, the murder mystery involves her close friend Katie who runs the amazing bakery upstairs from Fred's Cozy Corgi bookstore. We learn more about Katie's mysterious past, Susan Greene actually becomes (slightly) less unpleasant and annoying, and Fred's love life (or lack ...more

This is my favorite of the series so far. The mystery was the most involving yet, and it finally gave us a chance to see into Katie's past and into Susan's mindset. Plus all the action scenes made me desperately wish for this to be turned into a series of Hallmark films. Seriously, that scene in the woods with Fred rolling down and embankment: I can just picture Alicia Witt running through underbrush and hiding behind a tree trunk while the camera swoops in for a closeup and synthesized strings ...more

Now that The Cozy Corgi is up and running and a huge success, Fred is looking forward to curling up in her favorite nook with a good mystery. That all flies out the window when another dead body is discovered in her kitchen in the bakery upstairs. Time for Fred and Watson to get back to what they love, sniffing out a killer.

I very much enjoyed the first three books and couldn’t wait to dig into this one. I was pleasantly surprised to find not only another complicated mystery to figure out, but a

I hate to repeat myself but these books are too cute. This was another one of the series that I couldn't figure out the killer. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough. I had an idea of who the killer was and I'm very glad that I was wrong. I love learning more and more about Fred and Watson but in this book you got to especially learn about Katie, the baker, and i love her even more. By the way, Mildred Abbott, I want a Cozy Corgi sweatshirt!

Fred Page's bookstore, The Cozy Corgi, has been open for two months now. She owns the lease outright and business is picking up, despite tourist season being months away. Katie's bakery has become the local hangout, enraging Carla, owner of the Black Bear Roaster. Both Fred and Katie are delighted with how their dreams are coming true, however, Katie thinks Sammy may not work out after all, despite her mad baking skills. Dreams are made to be broken, however, and Regina and Penelope

Hooray! this month just got brighter with the release of a new book in the Cozy Corgi Mystery series. SAVAGE SOURDOUGH centers around that amazing bakery on the second floor of the Cozy Corgi bookshop. A page or so in and you can smell, the buttery, cinnamon, lemony fragrances.
I have come to love these wry escapes into the picture-perfect town of Estes Park. This fourth book does not disappoint. It is March, still snowy, still mostly locals. The bakery has quickly become the gathering place for

I have loved all of the stories in the Cozy Corgi mystery series and Savage Sourdough is no exception. Set in a small-town setting that I would love to live in; these whodunits are so much fun to read and try to figure out. Though, it seems my sleuthing skills are a bit lacking as I always seem to be surprised as to who the killers are…lol.. Savage Sourdough definitely has some very unexpected twists and turns and an ending that I never saw coming.
I love Fred and Watson and the outlandish

I really think the series just keeps getting better. Savage Sourdough is so cute. While Fred and Watson make me laugh constantly, Susan and Fred had me rolling at least once in the book. In Bickering Birds I kinda figured out "who done it" quickly, not so for this 4th book. Great Job, Mildred Abbott, for keeping us on our toes!!!

We should have known things were too good to be true for Winifred Page.
This episode has her being settled into her new life as a book store owner with Katie happily ensconced in her bakery upstairs and having employed Sammy as her bakery assistant. But.... All too soon another body in the bakery is found. Life in Estes Park is becoming more like Midsomer Murders - a dangerous place to be.
This is another well written murder mystery with just the right amount of humour laced into the seriousness

Poor Fred and Watson - they can't seem to catch a break with all these bodies falling in their paths. Watson has a personality that I know all too well - moody, slightly grumpy, with a touch of sass (reminds me of myself!). I love Watson's role in the book. Fun but not overdone. Fred settles in more with each book and continues to find her way in Estes Park. The bookstore and bakery are becoming quite then sensation for the locals and chances are, Fred has crossed paths with the murderer. The ...more

Another fantastic cozy (an audio review)

“Sixty percent of your brain is fat… Therefore all my carby, buttery, deliciously fatty foods make people smarter. I’m truly helping make America great again.” (Katie to Fred.)

“At least someone is.” Leo shot a wink in my direction and seemed on the verge of laughing. (Fred)

This is another great book by Mildred Abbott. Fred and Watson are back on the case. I think it’s no great surprise that Fred’s favorite television program is ‘Murder She Wrote’, while

Not too long ago cosy mysteries were a go-to genre for me. When I lost myself in (MM) romance a few years ago, my mystery reading disappeared to the back-burner. Reading Savage Sourdough both reminded me how much I used to love these and other mysteries and made me realise that I’m losing a lot when I (mostly) limit myself to one genre.

Because what’s not to enjoy about a book filled with charming and fascinating characters, combined with a well-plotted mystery and a satisfying solution? Savage

Whew, there I said it out loud. Where have you been Mildred Abbott? But, thank goodness you are here now.

This is the Fourth Book in this series, as we cuddle up and spend some time in this small town of Estes Park nestled into the Colorado Mountains.

Savage Sourdough (Cozy Corgi Mysteries book 4)by Mildred Abbott
Fred and her dog Watson are just enjoying their shop Cozy Corgi, especially with best friend Katie’s bakery upstairs. Fred found the heavenly aromas of freshly baked treats that drifted downstairs were terribly hard to resist, not just for the customers of her bookshop! Her day began with a cup of dirty chai, shared with a hot buttered chocolate croissant freshly baked while Watson ate an especially large green dog bone.

Savage Sourdough

Oh wow!! So many questions were answered for me in the episode...we learn more about Sammy and Katie. There is a little bit of mystery regarding romance for Fred. Susan Green explains a few things. And as always, Winston is the star of the book
The characters of this series are becoming more and more detailed. The plot centers around murder (eye roll please) and attempted murder with plot twists leading to the unexpected ending.
I'm currently binge reading the series and this one

Just love this series! There’s just something about Fred, Katie, Leo, Branson and the rest of the gang. I'm addicted...seriously! I was all over the place with Katie and her past. She kind of drove me crazy with her refusal of divulging her past and her obstinate pushing people away. There’s a difference between being independent and just being stupid with your safety. Poor Fred was really stuck between a rock a a hard place. Then you have Fred’s romances or lack of. Leo throws all sorts of ...more

I love this series!

Now that I have no more Cozy Corgi books to read, I decided that it was past time to write a review. Instead of just one book, though, let me just say that you should read the whole series. The quirky characters in this small Colorado town are delightful and the main character, Winifred (aka Fred), is fully fleshed out as a modern woman coping with real hurts and insecurities. She is also incredibly strong and resilient. Not that this series is heavy handed by any means. My

Old hurts and new ones.

Another terrific book. Okay the storyline wasn't one I liked but it was well planned, crafted and executed. Kate's assistant is starting to throw her weight around but it is still a shock when her body is found in the bakery. What was it that she had done to cause it? When Kate is shot at, it looks as if her assistant was mistaken for her. Who has a grudge against Kate? Can Kate survive? A really good plot and terrific character studies but still not one I really enjoyed.

I'm really enjoying this series. Bookstore owner Fred and her moody but lovable corgi Watson are a wonderful team, and they are surrounded by characters as quirky and fun as they are. This time around, we learn more about Fred's best friend Katie, as Fred tries to solve the latest murder. There are some sad and some anxious moments, but humor and love for family and friends keep things from getting too angsty. I love these fictional Estes Park citizens, and I will continue to follow their ...more

This series of Fred and watson her dog, this time involved why someone or someone's trying to kill Fred and her bff Katie who is Fred partner in business and who runs the bakery upstairs in her bookstore the cozy corgi. The series seen to get better and better , keeps me going back for the next series. I have to say from the beginning I wasn't sure if I like abbott style , but I find myself liking her more and more, I may just have to say she is another one of my favorite

If you love cozies and haven't read any of this series I highly recommend it.
Savage Sourdough brings us back to the Cozi Corgi bookshop and bakery. It's Deja Vu for Fred and Katie when another body is found in the bakery. This time it's Katie'slook alike and assistant Sammy and the clues keep leading Fred to a dead end (pun intended)

Each one of these stories gets better and better. I think this one though is my favorite. It's cute, engaging, a page-turner and who doesn't love Watson. Mildred
This was really cute. I love a cozy mystery. I haven't read the others, which I was kind of bummed about as I wondered about the dynamics between Branson and Leo and Fred, but I'll go back and read them. I didn't really see the ending coming (view spoiler)
I enjoyed the characters and loved Fred's family! What could be more perfect than a bookshop

I love how Fred loves her dog. He is devoted to her but not in an annoying way. I love that he goes mostly everywhere with her. An how Fred came to acquire Watson, it’s a beautiful part of her story. I am an animal lover especially dogs. So I really enjoy any book that features a dog in their story line. I’m ready to read the rest of the stories of Fred, Watson, Katie, Leo an office Branson.

I loved this book too & loved the info at the end about Katie. I was so surprised. I highly recommend this series to all cozy readers. I can't wait for #5 to come out. I laughed, cried, & tried to solve it all. Thanks for the great read. I bought this series only because I have a Corgi named Maxwell.

The fourth installment of the Cozy Corgi Mysteries does not disappoint. All the major characters return, a few answers were received however more questions have risen surrounding some of the characters. I love the friendship between Fred and Katie, I love that this series focuses on the friendship between the ladies with the love interests close behind.

Wonderful addition to a great series

I love a good cozy mystery with nice characters that you can understand and almost see. Mildred is a good writer who can make the characters come alive.

Reading the Cozy Corgi series is pretty much all you need to know about Mildred. In real life, she’s obsessed with everything she writes about: Corgis, Books, Cozy Mountain Towns, and Baked Goods. She’s not obsessed with murder, however. At least not at her own hands (nor paid for… no contract killing here). But since childhood, starting with Nancy Drew, trying to figure out who-dun-it has played ...more
