What's the point of falling in love if it only breaks your heart?
Skylar Crosby should be on top of the world. She's just graduated from the best law school in the country and is supposed to kick-start a successful career. But with her father still recovering from his gambling addiction, her absentee mother suddenly reappearing in her life, and the stresses of studying for the bar exam, Skylar is feeling more like she's holding the world up rather than standing on top of it. And then, of course, there's the matter of her utterly smashed heart.
In just a few short months, brilliant attorney and all-around tycoon Brandon Sterling quickly became the sun to Skylar's universe only to twist it upside down and inside out with his secrets, leaving her with a decision to make that will change both of their lives forever. And although Brandon can't forget the girl who gave him back his heart, sudden changes in his own complicated life will make getting her back that much more difficult. Luckily, Brandon Sterling has never been one to walk away from a challenge.
Even when the whole world seems united against them, it's possible that they are their own worst enemies. Legally Mine, the second book in the explosive Spitfire series, continues the saga of Skylar and Brandon as two stubborn, intelligent, damaged people trying to learn how to let themselves love and be loved return.

ARC kindly given by the author in exchange for an honest review
When I finished the first book, beside panting for more, I was sure no sequel could measure up. And yet not only Legally Mine lived up to my sky high expectations, it surpassed them!
This is also linked to another thing I love about this author. She surprises you even when you think the path is already set. At the end of Legally Yours, I had the sequel almost already sketched out in my head. And instead, the story took a completely different bend, shocking me, but the journey she took me on was even better than what I had expected!
In this instalment, we see Brandon and Skylar rebuild their relationship after what happened at the end of book one and I appreciated how they didn't just dive back in and bam! a couple again in five seconds flat.
No.
They tried to get re-accustomed to each other, making mistakes, stumbling at times, just like in real life. They'd hurt each other and just having them go back together without a second thought would had not been realistic.
Still, it's clear from the very beginning that they're destined to be together. No one else compares to what they are to the other. And it's a beautiful thing to watch, the adoration and devotion Brandon has for Skylar and how she can't resist to him, how her thoughts always circle back to him. Not Brandon the billionaire, the CEO, but Brandon the Red Sox-hat-wearing guy, the Springsteen fan, with blue jeans and a thousand watt smile.
So I'll wait, forever if I have to. Because that's what you do when you belong to someone, body and soul. And I do, Red. I do.
After a rocky start made of residual anger, regrets and painful love, seeing them come together, stronger than ever, filled my heart with undiluted fangirl joy. Every page in which they weren't together physically hurt, because I could feel their pain at not being together, the loss of the other.
"I hoped," he said finally with a concessive shrug. "A man can hope, Red." That was Brandon in a nutshell. A man who dreamed. He'd dreamed his whole life, of a family, of a better life, of a job, of money, of his firm, even of a family at one point... and of me.
Skylar is called to a make a very tough decision and even though I know many readers will scrunch their noses at it, I completely understood her reasons for it and respected her for the strength it took her. She revealed, once again, how tridimensional of a character she is. Usually, no female character ever takes that road. Not one I've read, at least.
Now, re-reading my review up to here, this book sounds like a sob-fest. But I can assure you there are plenty of happy-happy moment, my favorite being their trip to France. Seeing them as a couple, out in the open, not worried about who might be watching was liberating and it made me happy for them.
Unlike the days when we used to spend weekends together, our conversation was stunted. Brandon was guarded, and I was too. The fact was, we had hurt each other badly, and there was going to be a certain amount of time needed to heal those wounds, which seemed a lot fresher at the moment.
Also, I'm not gonna spoiler because I really want you all to be surprised by them, but there were lots of plot twists in this instalment, of very different kinds. Family-wise, with people reappearing from the past, romantic wise, but also dangerous ones.
Personally, I liked the whole situation with Brandon's ex, how it added a forbidden quality to Brandon and Skylar love. Of course, what I wasn't a fan of was how she was almost his dirty little secret. But before you raise the pitchfork, let me tell you that my absolute favorite moment was when he understood how much all of this was hurting her and literally said:
"Fuck this," he pronounced as he pulled me up, his accent large and pronounced. "I can do better. And you're not some dirty little secret, you're the love of my fuckin' life."
There's a desperateness about them, about two people who can't stay away from each other, but who entered the other's life in the worst possible moment.
Also, if I still haven't convinced you to read this book, here's a little thing you should know: It's. Hot. As. Hell. Every sexy scene is different from the other ones, in a different setting, with a different meaning. Now, before I self-combust, I'll switch to the secondary characters.
More precisely: Jane and Eric. Squeeee!!! Besides the utter hilariousness these two are, both taken singularly and together, I really want their story, too! I feel like they're one of those unlikely pairings that can reserve amazing surprises.
Jane shrugged. "Everyone needs to let off steam. You swim. I Tinder..."
Another aspect I loved about this book is that it moved past the issues in the first. In book one, one of the main struggles for Skylar was coming to terms with Brandon showering her with gifts and for him... well, wooing her without acting like a jerk (I'm still grinning at his failed attempts). Here, they know each other well enough to know that she's not going to accept extravagant gifts and doesn't need them to love him, and that he's not trying to buy her love, but genuinely likes to spoil his girl. This allowed them to grow as a couple and to face different issues, which helped keeping me hooked throughout the book. Also, they had so many simple, yet wonderfully happy moments together, like swaying at a Springsteen song in her kitchen, or eating breakfast in bed.
My skirt swished gently about my knees, and Brandon's hand tightened at my waist, while the other dropped my hand and clasped behind my neck, cradling me close. I buried my face into his shirt, slipped my arm around his waist and hummed, as content as I'd ever been in my life.
This is the thing about this series: there's always something going on, always someone against them, or threatening their relationship, or one of their life choices getting in the way. It's never smooth sailing, and yet their love shines so bright between the pages, that you know it will prevail in the end.
So, in conclusion, this book was G-R-E-A-T. Romantic? Hell yes! Surprising? Plot twists, baby. Hot? Like a habanero shoved down your eye socket. Realistic? Yes, it was. Great characterization sure helps with this. Amazing side characters? Check, check, check. Suspense-filled? Hello, side stories involving the mob, fishy business, and backstabbing friends. Emotional? I dare you not to shed a tear come a certain part (which I won't spoil).
Now, I kind of need book three. And with "kind" I mean right now. I can already feel withdrawals symptoms showing and a book hungover taking over.
I'll leave you with a funny quote which sums out Brandon's feelings from Skylar perfectly.
"You could be a secret government assassin. You could develop sudden alopecia and become completely bald. Hell, you could love your memory tomorrow and that dude would go full-on Notebook. Brandon would probably buy an entire center just so he read you stories while he kept up his eight-pack for the days you actually knew who he was."
This was one hell of exciting read with all the bells and whistles. Scornful ex-wives, lying backstabbing villains and dirty little secrets that can't be hidden. The drama is epic, heartbreaking and nerve wrecking. Just when you think there will be peace in the Valley, the calm before the storm, is when Nicole French delivers the perfect storm.
I couldn't get trouht the abortion. I didn!t understand her because she knew Brandon would kill for that kid and she was like... I don't have time for that. Also, because the last book ended by Sky foundig out about it I though it will be a main plot for this book and in few pages and she killed it. So... Not for me. Really not.
I thought Legally Yours was great but Legally Mine has surpassed my expectations for this series. I could not put it down and was drawn back to it with every free moment. The writing style and plot continues consistently from book 1. The story line has some new, unexpected twists that I did not see coming. And I have to say this is probably one of my favorite series for 2017.
I saw Brandon and Skylar grow throughout this story. I felt like I was there experiencing all their emotions with them and have loved traveling this journey with them so far. Nicole definitely sent me on an emotional rollercoaster called love, where I felt sadness, anger, frustration, angst and happiness. I loved getting a glimpse into Brandon's POV and hope that we get to hear more from him in book 3.
There are some interesting secondary characters that were introduced and played a bigger role throughout Legally Mine. Maybe some of them will get their own spin off series. If you thought Legally Yours had a cliffhanger wait until you get to the end of this one. Nicole has broken my heart with Legally Mine and the only way to repair is for her to write Legally Ours faster. I need it.
I'm giving Legally Mine a 3.5/5 stars and here are the reasons: I still believe that for this to be the first series of the Nicole, she's doing an amazing job at laying out the characters, their personalities, needs and voice into paper. Her wit and easy style is still shown between the lines of this book.
But there were several things that put me off compared to the first book and it took me longer to read this one... at least I have the perception that it took me longer.
They were several reasons why that happened: 1. I had the same sense that with Fifty Shades Darker, where I wasn't sure what was the real purpose behind reading a second story around the same subject. I don't know if it's because of my preferences, I got the feeling that some scenes, specially the sexy ones, were kind of repetitive.
2. While in the first book you see a very independent, sure of herself and self-sufficient Skylar, I think she just changed in this book... I think she ended up bending her will to satisfy Brandon's needs for fear to not being with him again. Several examples are: spoiler:
I don't know if it was the author's intent to make the character weaker, and if that's the case she succeeded, but the entire reason why I likes this girl was because she was different from the stereotypical tycoon girlfriend.
3. And then, there in Brandon. This character also lost part of his essence from the first to the second book. Maybe the breakup changed him as well, but he lost all his naivety and became someone who all of a sudden want to be involve in politics.
But really, for an almost shy character in book 1 to want to be involved on politics seems kind of off... maybe there is a hidden agenda and there's a reason he's doing it other than "I want to make a change and change the world" Cool-Aid politicians drink.
Anyway, as in any saga, I still have to know what happens at the end and if the middle of the plot (which is this book) was just a mean to get to the real juicy end.
Until then, thanks for reading and I'll see you between the pages, Tish.
Ok..please don't read this review.. it might contain spoilers..
Whyyyyyyyy the author would do this???? the characters were so perfectly imperfect last time that you couldn't help but to fall in love with them.. but NOW??? God, I hate Skylar.. Brandon is still perfect fortunately.
alright.. so the author made Skylar this awful person who is able to commit abortion without remorse and everyone is ok with it.??? well, I'm not.. I think it was awfull and inmature and for god sakes she's 26.. is not like she's sixteen and pregnant.. she could have deal with it as a woman and as an adult but she took the easy way out. That, is just unforgiveable! and if I decide to finish this trilogy it would be because of Brandon.. no one elses.
Finally, the only reason of my 3 stars rating is because after all Brandon is the best character in this story and he deserves a happy ending. I just wiiiiiiiish it isn't with that pathetic excuse of a woman.
. . . . I will not read a book where the character has an abortion, when 1. She willingly had sex without a condom knowing she wasn't on the pill, and 2. doesn't even discuss it with the babies father. Absolutely unacceptable to me.
Things don't stop happening and yet nothing actually happens. Manufactured drama is to be expected in romance but there are limits. And ludicrous villains beyond what can be imagined. Brandon and Skyler deserved better.
When this copy came to me, I literally dropped the most recent book I was reading and had to start right away! I can not believe the pain and struggle that comes with Legally Mine. Nicole does it again. Breaks my heart and I am left trying to piece it back together again!!
Legally Mine was just as intense as book one in the Spitfire series. Probably a little more. I didn't think I could be more upset with Skylar and the decisions she makes without thinking things through. I still have a love-hate relationship with her for the first half or so of the book. I can feel Brandon's pain as it was frustrating to figure out this woman! Kudos to Nicole that writes about a character who has built walls around herself that not even the reader can not break through. I really am not so sure about Skylar anymore. I kind of was ready for Brandon to move on sadly. Then the story turns around and I am second guessing myself. Nicole kept me on my toes with her book.
We get to meet new characters and the old ones are still with us from Legally Yours. Skylar's dad is still struggling with his addiction, but is getting better. Since Brandon had last stepped in and paid off the debt, it looks like he has brought a new level a trouble between Skylar and her family. Skylar's big secret comes out in the open and Brandon is not sure if he can still stay with her.
There are so many twist and turns. My heart and mind were a wreck after I read this book. So much that I had to take a couple of days to reflect what I had read and then write this review. Sometimes it is easier write after the highs and lows of your emotions calm down. The ending of the story had me stunned and the anticipation was killing me. Book three is what I need to get this angst out of me. I can not wait to read the conclusion of Skylar and Brandon's story. Will their relationship survive? In the end I decided that I will stand behind them and root for a happy ever after.
Again, not Shakespeare. But I wasn't expecting that. For what it is (popcorn), it's really damn good popcorn. It's angsty, sexy, occasionally legitimately hot. I'll take it.
I won't leave a bunch of spoilers here, but needless to say, French continues her pattern of taking traditional romance tropes and spinning them a little bit. I like it. The book starts out with the narrator (the female protagonist) making a decision that you wouldn't expect, especially within this genre, and French does a really nice job of following through the consequences of that decision in a lot of areas of the characters' lives, both internally and externally. There are a lot of internal battles being fought here.
It's also just hot. She's good at writing sex scenes, and I appreciate the fact that they aren't just "let's get it on, done" type of scenes. They're graphic without being exploitative––if anything, you're pretty caught up in the female's gaze of the obviously good-looking male. Again, I'll take that. There's enough objectification of women in the world, so I'm happy to see the guys ogled for a while.
I also wasn't expecting characters who are perfect, who don't make mistakes. And unlike a lot of readers, I don't expect that either. Even though, yes, the characters make a lot of decisions that I personally wouldn't make, isn't that usually what happens in novels like these? I mean, if everyone did the right thing, wouldn't that be really boring? I'd rather read about trials and tribulations myself.
I ended up skipping this book. I was to annoyed with her decision in the beginning. I read a bunch of the reviews and it seems like this book is just kinda fluff.. I figure 3 will give me all the key points I need to be able to finish the series.
LEGALLY MINE was an outstanding read. I have been in a major book slump the past few months just due to some personal things, and I have to say, this novel brought me out of that slump. I absolutely adore Brandon, and Skylar. Their chemistry is absolutely outstanding, and I feel like there is so much between the two of them. Nicole French’s writing is on par throughout the novel. While it will seem lengthy to some readers, it is so necessary for the plot, and the characters. LEGALLY MINE is an outstanding novel that will leave readers wanting so much more. There is so much suspense at the end of this novel that I was legitimately on the edge of my seat. Going into the SPITFIRE SERIES completely blind is the best way to approach these books. I simply cannot wait for the third novel in this trilogy!
To say that I enjoyed this book more that the last would be an understatement. In the first installment, we are able to watch Brandon and Skylar's relationship grow to the point of basically breaking. I though I knew what was going to happen, where Nicole was going to go in the sequel but I could have been more wrong. I laughed, I cried, and I would have through the book if it wasn't on my iPad, yet still I want more, no I need more. These character has become part of me, part of my being that is what French has done to me. She has an amazing talent of the slow burn. I slowly feel in love with these characters, but their ups and downs have not become my own. I feel as if their pain is my own as well which for makes this book one of the best books I have read this year.
The last book leave Brandon and Skylar's relationship broken, however they are slowly trying to build what the had back during this book. Skylar is not in love with Brandon the billionaire or the high power attorney, but the young boy that spent his life in foster care from Dorchester. We always knew that Brandon loved Skylar, but now we are able to see Skylar believing in their mutual love for one another. A new threat from the past has come to cause drama for these two, but they attempt to weather it all as they repair their relationship. French does not give us a drama filled book, we do get to see Brandon and Skylar happy and in love. We are also treated to some HOT and I mean seriously HOT scenes as these two reconnect mind, body, and soul. The best surprise in this book is the return of both Jane and Eric. If you need comic relief in any story these two are the best characters for you. These two provide the characters with insight into their own issues as well as us with the comic relief that is desperately needed at times during this story.
There are not enough words for all the good things I want to say about this, other than read it! The plot twist alone will keep you interested, but the love story will make your heart sing. This one of the very few times where I would say the second book is better, but you will miss out of the emotional impact of most of this book without reading the first one. It is a necessary story that must be told. Now I have to impatiently wait for the final installment!
I absolutely LOVE this series! Legally Yours introduced me to these amazing characters and now I find myself incredibly invested in them!! Legally Mine is an emotional next step for them, and once I read through to the end I saw the ways the characters (specifically Skyler) have grown since the beginning of book one. This book will pull at your emotions- I cried, laughed and felt intense anger multiple times as if I were physically there in the story. It's a rare thing to be so caught up that you actually forget about what's going on around you.
This is an AMAZING series and I absolutely CANNOT wait for the next book.
Man, oh, man. I don't even know where to begin. This book is worth more than five stars. I felt so many emotions. Angry and pissed off at Skylar for being selfish and then not disclosing a huge problem once their relationship was back on track, and then in tears for the same situation because of how Brandon found out. I knew it would happen but it didn't prepare me for the way it was revealed. This Author definitely creates characters you can connect with. I look forward to reading book three!
A sharp, sassy and scorching romance with raw edge and all the feels...
Nicole French is a new author to me, I'd come across her name here and there and when I was offered the advanced copy to Legally Mine— I could not refuse. In truth, I was actually rather excited. I'm a mahooooosive fan of legal dramas and an avid romance devourer... so this was win-win. Not only is this a legal romance, but it's also a workplace romance with characters that aren't just empathiseable— they are downright loveable, adorable even! This is not a series of standalones, so you will have to read Legally Yours beforehand, as I did. If not, you will miss parts of Brandon and Skylar's story.
Plot wise, I abso-freaking-lutely love this series. I'm a Suits die hard, and Brandon does have a Harvey Specter appeal. He is sharp, savvy and skilled in his career, however, the same cannot be said when it comes to matters of the heart. He is useless to the point where you don't know whether to pity him or throttle him for the poppycock that he comes up with to "woo" Skylar. At times he was so useless, that I actually just had to laugh him off— I may have a bit of an evil streak. Saying that though, a lot of his misdemeanours in the love stakes actually served to bring out and show Skylar as the heroine every romance reader dreams of. She is strong, sassy, red-blooded and she does not take crap from anybody. By all means, these are characters that are quite simply to die for. I really could not get enough of them.
Legally Mine is a slow burn romance, however, there is that element of love at first sight (insta-love) that comes from Legally Yours. Saying that, both of the books are actually slow burners. The relationship between Brandon and Skylar is built up slowly and carefully down to the smallest detail. They do a few things backwards, but to be honest that adds to the individuality of their story. I really do have to bow down to Nicole French when it comes to the development of the romance, it is verging on flawless and every aspect is intricately mapped out and executed. Not only did I find that this helped make these characters real, but it also kept them raw. In many ways Brandon and Sky are like Tom and Jerry, they are constantly at each others' throats, but they can't deny that they cannot live without each other. There really is such a fine line between love and hate when it comes to these two. Their chemistry rocket fuels their passion to a whole new level. Their intimate interactions are insanely scorching hot, they really should come with a warning. Brandon and Skylar are dynamite. I was left gasping and wanting with every single touch... taste...
What I love the most about this series so far, is that it isn't conventionally clichéd and every turn you expect it to take is done so with a fresh twist that keeps you on your toes and completely glued to the story. I seriously could not put this book down. Nicole French had me completely at her mercy and hanging on her every word. This series completely took over my life, I lived it, breathed it, craved it and when I reached the end of Legally Mine— I was devastated. I couldn't function, the book blues completely drowned me. I cannot wait for the next book in the series— Legally Ours. I really don't know how I'm going to be able to cope with the wait because I'm in book hangover hell!
This is the second book in the series and Legally Yours needs to be read first.
Skylar Crosby has just left Boston to go home to New York and spend some time with her grandma and dad while she figures out what to do. When she returns to school and moves back to Boston with close friend Eric she hopes she can stay away from Brandon but one drunk night changes all that.
Brandon Sterling has just been asked by the DNC to run for Mayor of Boston and now has to make sure that his life is in pristine condition. But as he wants Skylar by his side, his campaign manager, Cory Stewart, wants her as far away as possible from all the bad media.
As Skylar and Brandon struggle to find what they had they are faced with the press and their respective pasts that they are each trying to keep under wraps but when certain secrets are revealed what will it cost them?
Who will be revealed as an alias and who is out for their own agenda not caring who they bring down?
Wow - this series is getting intense!
I love Skylar and understand why she made the decision she did at the beginning of this book as she had no idea what was going to happen with her life and the uncertainty that was even with her own dad and what he was messed up in. That being said I was sad that she wasn't open with Brandon as that ended up working against her although it created a great story line and lots of drama!!
I must admit that I was shocked that Brandon would consider running for mayor knowing what state his personal life was at. He didn't seem like the kind of guy that wanted people looking into his life or being treated like crap by Cory.
It was super interesting with Skylar's mom coming back and seeing what she wants. It appears that she is just after Brandon's money but I definitely don't trust her.
The love that Skylar and Brandon have for each other is intense and hot!! The two absolutely sizzle and you know how much they care but there is so much other stuff going on that begins to threaten what they have.
The ending and what was revealed was heartbreaking and it pissed me off to see how many people were involved with it.
The very ending was OMG!!! Eagerly looking forward to book 3!!
Major cliffhanger ending in a steadily paced millionaire romance mixed with suspense trilogy
Legally Mine, the second book in this millionaire mixed with suspense trilogy, picks up where the first book left off. This follows in the same fashion as the previous book of things steadily building (it’s another fairly long read) and is filled with plenty of angst but just when I thought the book was becoming a little predictable there was one last surprise that gets thrown in at the very end that leaves you eagerly wanting to read the conclusion to the cliffhanger and plot in book 3!
Mostly told from Skylar’s perspective, with a couple from Brandon’s POV to help move the story along, Skylar and Brandon are at a crossroads as they both find their lives moving forward but with challenges coming their way that make a relationship still just as hard. Sub-characters play larger roles within this book in comparison to the first book which focused more on Skylar and Brandon. It’ll be interesting to see what roles these characters play in the conclusion of the story.
I’m not sure if it was just me but I found this book to be sort of more a filler book to move the plot along ready for the final book. I’ll be honest that I got a little bored at times with the pacing and frustrated with the characters in this book as they were a little too contradicting so I’m hoping in the final book I’ll start to love them again as I did in the first book. In terms of writing style, however, this book continued in the well written and edited style of the previous book.
Definitely looking forward to reading the conclusion to this series!
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
Nicole French what are you doing to your readers hearts?! I lost count of how many times my heart broke and was pieced back together. Much like the first book-this is a definite whirlwind of the romance that is Skylar and Brandon. I love these characters so much-which is why I can't wait to read the next book! Yes, you've heard it-another cliff hanger! We know in the very beginning that things are bound to explode between Skylar and Brandon. We get most of the book with them adjusting back into the happy couple they were. Skylar often feels guilt for something that Brandon doesn't know about, and truthfully we wait the whole book for the other foot to drop. When it drops-it's a bomb of epic proportions. Brandon feels betrayed by Skylar, and pushes her away-and you won't believe who's there to pick up/kidnap Skylar.
Like I mentioned above, I truly love the characters this author has created. I do think that as a second book, with not a lot of questions answered, there is a bit too much going on. Much like the first book, its little conflict after little conflict chapter after chapter until the "big finale." I didn't care too much about Jane and Eric-or Skylar's mother. There are predominantly mud and scenes included including these characters that made me want to skip back to where Brandon and Skylar were. I hope in book three a lot of the characters that surround the couple are cut out, somehow. I can't wait for book 3! Skylar and Brandon are sizzling hot with problems of their own-and I can't wait to find out if they finally can have their happy ending.
*I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
Lovely 5 Stars LOVELY ... AWESOME ... I CAN READ THIS SERIES AGAIN AND AGAIN.
Excellent story Nicole. Thanks for writing such a beautiful book and giving it to me for honest review. Well here is my honest review.
This story continues from where it ended in Book 1 with separation of Brandon and Skylar. To start wthl i will say that that was not a wise decision on Sky's part. Well but thats how the story continues. I loved all their Naughty and Intimate stuff along with the beautiful love they had for each other. Their Love was too good to be true ... sorry m not being negative but Does this kind of love exist. Anyhow their love was dream like and i enjoyed reading through this dream story.
I was totally heart broken at the last scene. I am not saying Brandon did not do correct but he was really
But What is Story! :-)
Now, Well M so in love with this Love story ... And I am so obsessed with Brandon's Love that i want to find my own Brandon ... however i know such love does not exist.
M so eager to read on ... I am waiting for the Book 3 now expected on 18th Sep!!
Imagine my surprise when I saw that I received the ARC for this book. I have been itching to know what happens between Skylar and Brandon. I immediately stopped in the middle of another book to start this one. The things these two go through! I was so frustrated with Skylar throughout this book. I seriously wanted to reach into my kindle and shake some sense into her. Brandon was his same old demanding, albeit sweet self. I totally adore him. Don't get me wrong. He had his moments too but not quite as many as Skylar. There was a bit of predictability with this book but only in the sense that you know something is going to happen but you just don't know when or how. I usually don't like when books are predictable It worked for this book though. For most of the book, I had this tightness in my chest just waiting for that "shoe to drop". It's kind of like watching a scary movie. You know something's gonna happen but you just keep watching with intense trepidation. That was me while reading. I had to refrain from throwing my kindle at the wall a few times. I just kept telling myself that it'll work out. And then that damn cliffy of an ending. It's looking like I will be on a little stalking expedition so see when to expect the next book in this series. Hopefully not too long.
If you have read Book One in the Spitfire series – Legally Yours then you might have found yourselves invested in the lives of Brandon and Skylar. The Book did not end on a very happy note. making me believe that love would triumph in Book II.
Legally Yours takes off from exactly the same point where the first Book left off- Skylar and her dilemma. The chemistry between the two lovers is still unchanged but if you think this is their happily ever after you might need to guess again.
They have indeed taken on the appearance of star -crossed lovers by now and it does indeed seem that the universe is conspiring to keep them apart. But despite it, all the biggest danger to their relationship comes from within, from a secret that Skylar just can’t bear to share with Brandon.
Nicole’s narration is breezy and never dull. There are a lot more elements and characters in this mix as compared to Legally Yours, too many sometimes it seems but at no point does the author lose the plot and deviate from the link built up from the previous book. If you are looking a realistic romance with undeniable chemistry between the lead pair this could be the book to read, especially if you've already read Book I.
This book is for anyone who loves steamy romance, angst, and a good love story. Throughout the book I found myself, laughing, crying and with gut wrenching nervousness! This beautiful story (just like the first book) is full of so much love that you want to scream because life just keeps getting in the way.
Brandon and Skylar in book 2 have a new set of issues to face; marriage, bar exam, the future, and as always family! Each time you think that things will come out ok, Bang another issue arises and though they do their best to get throught it together, Brandon and skylar just can't seem to keep above the mess that their lives are becoming. Secrets and lies seem to always find their way out and for these two they seem to be never ending.
Nicole seems to keep to her suspense and these cliffhangers are going to be the death of me!!! This book unlike its predecessor is full of ALOT more suspense and angst from its characters. After secrets spilled out at the end of the first book you thought ok they will figure it out in the second, but nooooooo! I know cliffhangers aren't for everyone but the story itself is too intense and beautiful to miss out on.

This is my first book review ever, so bare with me folks :) I really enjoyed this book. Legally Mine is about Skylar, a law student just out of school, and Brandon her CEO boyfriend. This is the second book in the series, so we find Skylar dealing with their break up at the beginning of the story. And throughout the course of the book, them finding their way back to each other, with lots of interference. From ex-wives, estranged mothers, gambling fathers, and many others that get in the way. I am a sucker for an alpha male in any story. And Brandon fits that profile :) I did find Skylar's character a little annoying. They just get back into a relationship, and Brandon starts throwing all these big changes at her. That she is just supposed to except if she wants to be with him. She never really says what she wants. And, as I mentioned I love the alpha male, but they dont seem to talk a whole lot. Everytime they are arguing, Brandon fixes it by having sex. So they never really solve any of their issues. The cliffhanger at the end was very intriguing and I definitely want to read the next book. I am hoping more character development comes out of it. Thanks for reading :)
The second book takes right off where the first one ended. Skylar´s and Brandon´s relationship gets even more complicated than it already is, due to some unforseen events. Both need to make important decisions that will alter their lives completely. Familiar characters like the Eccentric Jane, Eric the Viking and Jared the Rich Kid make the plot even more exciting (some more than others). The reader finally gets to meet Skylar´s mother (siblings and husband included). The central theme of the book seems to be the fact that the past always catches up...
What I liked about the book were the supporting characters, they made the story more fun. Skylar on the other hand has a lot of growing up to do, although I really liked the way she stood up for Brandon in front of his foster parents. Brandon was his usual self with many cute moments.
All in all, it was a good read.

I hadn't had the opportunity of reading the first installment of this series, so when I received a copy of this book for an honest review, I immediately started reading and boy, was I blown away! While the writing could use some editing and a few tweaks here and there (for my liking, but they are minor and the book shines through regardless of what may be improved), the story is well conceived, believable and most of all, endearing. I couldn't help but root for these two characters and turned every page hoping things would work out for both our heroes: Red and Sterling. In my mind, Sterling is far more likeable than Red, perhaps because he has a quality of wearing his heart on his sleeve despite all of his errors and Red is a little bit more defensive and I think that is why she sometimes self-sabotages her chances for greatness. This book left me wanting for more, in a good way, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for this author! :) I recommend it.
5 stars for Legally Mine by Nicole French. This is book 2 in the Spitfire Series. This book picks up right where book 1 left us. Now some of you may not agree with somethings in this book but I promise you it is worth reading. Brandon and Skylar are going through a lot in this book. They both are in difficult situations and not sure what to do about them. The book starts with heartache and ends in a cliffhanger. I would say this is where the suspense starts in the trilogy. The pages of this book filled me with so many emotions. Brandon has gone behind Skylar’s back but their was a good reason. Skylar doesn’t know what to do about pretty much everything happening in her life. They both love each other but what is the cost. This book is giving me all the feels. French has drawn me in and isn’t letting go. I am starting book 3 now.
OMG, I FREAKING LOVE this book. Nicole French did it to me again. She pulled me right into the story and I made a connection with her characters. I can't wait to read the next one. I truly can't pick just one character that I feel head over heels for... I am falling more for Brandon because most guys wouldn't do what he does, He brought breakfast to her in bed. Brandon is like any guy that we all hope to find someone that will do stuff and help out when we need him, Brandon is so perfect in alot of ways. In this world, there is no one like Brandon. He has caught my heart. Oh why does this happened for.
