Lydia knew there was something important she should remember. Her mind kept returning to it over and over again, yet each time it slipped her recollection. Her world was nothing more than a painted dream, but she couldn't help but wonder what their home had been before they had altered it, what lay beneath the layers, or beyond the sky shield. Good read
I enjoyed this book. It often surprised me, exploring unexpected possibilities, taking the story in new and interesting directions. This is fantasy so it doesn't have to be believable. I liked the idea of soul mates and the love that was shared by Lydia and Jordan and some f the other couples. The love of individuals weighed against planets and all life on them being destroyed. Since I still don't understand why, I presume there is another book in the series. ...more

The world building across this series is amazing- R.M. Gilmour totally submerges you from page 1. Warning to other readers, you need to read book 1 first as this story picks up straight from where one finishes. As with book 1 the characters are strong and realistic, but the star of this story is this well thought out world that is so visual. Kudos, also needs to be given as the main character is not a natural fighter and insta-hero- I'm kind of over that so this is very refreshing.

A great story indeed
As the story unfolds, Lydia is training at the Arena so she learn to protect herself, her fears that the ward will come for her to torment her. Thing aren't what they appear to be as everyone has secrets. Deception is everywhere, so who can Lydia trust? Jordan? Mason? All gets revealed with a few surprises that you won't see coming. No spoilers but I highly recommend this one! ...more

Good and satisfying read.
I thought this second book started out a little slow, however; when it picked up, it was like a rollercoaster ride. I've really enjoyed reading both books so far. ...more
