A solid, enjoyable wrap-up to this enjoyable fantasy trilogy. Review first posted on Fantasy Literature:

The battle for the crown of Tremontane comes to a climax in Champion of the Crown, the final book in Melissa McShane’s SAGA OF WILLOW NORTH fantasy trilogy. (Obligatory warning: here be spoilers for the prior books, Pretender to the Crown and Guardian of the Crown.) The first book focused on the escape from Tremontane of Willow North, her ex-fiancé Kerish of Eskandel, and eight-year-old Felix

Any reader of this series who felt that there was too much talking and not enough action in the previous volume should be thrilled with this one, which starts off with a bang and keeps going straight to the end.

Willow, her new husband Kerish, eight-year-old Felix Valant, who should be king of Tremontane, and her collection of soldiers, insurgents, thieves, and Eskandelic allies, cross the border straight into trouble.

Willow has an excellent commander in her Eskandelic ally, but she does her best

This brings the story of Willow North to a close. When I originally planned to write about her, I had no idea it would turn into a trilogy, or how much I would come to love young Felix. The one thing I had in mind was that the end of her story would reveal why the old tower on the palace grounds was called Willow North's tower, and why there's always a fire burning at the top. So for three books I wrote toward that final goal.

I imagine readers who knew Willow's ultimate fate from having read the

This is third in a trilogy, so you really should read them in order.

So this is another by Melissa, so take my review with whatever grains of salt her spouse should have. I strive to keep it honest, but it should come as no surprise that I enjoyed the story immensely.

Being the third in a series, by now you should know what you're in for . . . mostly. In this one, Willow is gaining some comfort in command as she leads an army into her homeland to wrest it from the tyrant. So there's more action th

Note: I have had the vast fortune of being a beta reader and friend of the author. All opinions are my own though. She can't make me stop. :)

I have been looking forward to this book being out for a while. I am an unrepentant Tremontane fan and have really wanted to see where the North legacy began. This trilogy does a fantastic job of answering that question in a way that is fun and satisfying.

Champion of the Crown is the third in a tight trilogy and you must read the other two first or you'll

I received an ARC copy of this book.

Champion of the Crown is the third and final book in the Saga of Willow North trilogy. Following the (mostly) political maneuvering that took place in Eskandel in the second book, this volume tells the story of Willow, Serjian and Felix’s return to Tremontane and Willow’s attempt to restore Felix to his throne.

The focus of the previous book was more on Willow’s political maneuverings in Eskandel, but this volume features much more action along with the politi

The last book in a series always feels incredible bittersweet, but I feel like Champion to the Crown is nice ending to the Willow North Saga.

While book one was filled with action, book two had loads of political intrigue and this one is a nice mixture of both of them, which I believe is what makes it a great book! We get to see how much the main characters have grown and that is something I can always appreciate! We also get to see Willow and Kerish as a proper unit, communicating, working toge

Champion of the Crown is the exciting third installment from Melissa McShane‘s The Saga of Willow North series. I think this was my favorite of the series. It was full of page turning adventure and action.

I am so sorry to see the end of the series. I give Champion of the Crown 5+ stars. I highly recommend it.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review was 100% my own honest opinion.

Epic Ending to a truly Epic trilogy.

This world is so incredibly rich. Filled with complex characters and extensive world building and a truly phenomenal saga.

I can't say enough good things about this series. It was a truly fitting and thrilling conclusion.

Champion of the Crown is an exciting finale to The Saga of Willow North series.

Unlike the previous entry in the series, which sometimes got a little bogged down in political machinations, the plot in this book contains quite a bit of action as Willow and her allies travel through Tremontane attempting to gather support to put Prince Felix on the throne. Some political maneuvering still occurs, because not all the nobles are willing to throw in with Felix without getting something out of it for t

An extremely satisfying ending to a superb series, Champion of the Crown combines the action and excitement of book one and the political intrigue of book two. Willow North grows into the heroine that we desire, putting her life on the line again and again for the boy king she loves as a son and the country she has grown to reverence.
In this book, we see the promised war to reclaim Felix's crown. We also witness the climate, political and literal, starkly different from Eskandel, where we spent

A beautiful and fitting end.
Even though we know the outcome of the war and who takes the Throne this story contains so much heartache and love that you don't expect. This book a fantastic end to a wonderful trilogy.

3.5 stars. Good conclusion, though events just seem to happen in favorable ways to the MC that are somewhat unrealistic.

An excellent end to the trilogy. Plenty of action and intrigue. We get to watch Willow grow and change, as she uses all of her talents, including her midnighting. She is a character you want more of.

Melissa grew up a nomad, following her family all over the United States, and ended up living in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains with her husband, four kids, and three very needy cats. Her love of reading was always a constant during those uncertain years, and her love of writing grew out of that. She wrote reviews and critical essays for many years before turning to fiction, and was surprised ...more
