Your parents only want what best for you, right? For Layla Rosas, at least she knew her father has her back until he says she may need to be committed for her self-destructive behavior and “flightiness.” The answer in 1958 is to have a steady boyfriend, to look to settling down and raising a family, too bad Layla’s last attempt at trusting someone went up in the flames of deceit. A story she has never shared.

It was a chance photo Layla took that brings hotel security chief,

How could a title like My Fake Vegas Boyfriend not just grab your attention and pique your curiosity? I know that is what it did for me. I am not a fan of the fake relationship trope but I loved how the plot device was used in this story. Layla had photo negatives and Jace needed them, she saw an opportunity to fill a role she needed filled and Jace complied but the fake relationship did not progress how you would expect. Jace was not happy about being blackmailed into Layla’s ridiculous scheme ...more

I loved the blurb on this book and I had not read one set in 1958, and I also love the journey from a fake boyfriend troupe with a little blackmail, they always have such an uphill battle to get to that HEA, and this is a story that did keep me turning the pages as we get to know the heroine Layla Rosas and hero Jace Russell two very different people.

Layla is damaged badly, what this woman has been through is not nice and a lot of it is caused by her mother and father, she is fighting to be kept

Amatuer photographer Layla Rosas finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time when she catches some candid shots of a popular actor in a compromising situation. She thought she got away but head of the casino's security, Jace, has found her and he wants those negatives. Layla agrees on one condition, that Jace pretends to be her boyfriend. She hopes that when her parents see her "settling down" they will back off on their plans to put her into a mental hospital. Jace agrees, it will be eas ...more

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The setting is 1958 and if it wasn't mentioned, you would not realize it because it's a timeless story. There are several mentions that even though everyone is so "progressive" there are still roadblocks in life (2018 anyone?) Side note: I have wardrobe envy over Layla's fashion.

The story moves at a great pace and can be read in a couple of hours. Characters are clearly developed and the reader is immediately aware or who i

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore a four-star read that will snap you away. This is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series and it kicks off with a bang, I am sure I will be reading the rest to see how the story progresses, the characters are just that good. Layla was a great person, she was someone who kept you on your toes all the way through, I liked how the story was set in 1958 and not in recent times as you really got swept up in how life was then, how a simple action could caus ...more

I don’t read much historical romance these days. If you don’t believe me, check out our review policy. It’s not that I don’t like the historical category. Years ago, it’s what I read exclusively, as a matter of fact. But as is the case with any binge reading, I got burnt out and had to move on to contemporary and paranormal romance. So when Lori Sizemore asked if I was interested in reading her hi

There was a genuine understanding of the characters that powered its way through this story, one that seemed determined to give Layla and Jace an opportunity to express themselves.
Layla was far from run of the mill, she had an individuality that set her apart from the rest, a slightly skewed way of looking at the world but in some cases, that isn’t exactly a bad thing and I have to say that in her case…she owned her quirks!
And none more so, than when her mother makes a passing comment t

Oh Mylanta! I hit the jackpot with this novel from Lori Sizemore! Not only do I now have a new author to love and obsess over, binge read, and stalk, but I now have a new favorite top five rom-com read of 2018! That gorgeous eye-popping cover drew me in before I even got swept away by the blurb. It was an instant one-click impulse buy, kind of like that gamble impulse you get at the slots in Vegas. From page one I was hooked and the rush was steady until the very end.

The story My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas Book 1) by Lori Sizemore is a romance book that has both a plot and characters that are hard to forget once read about. This is a story that grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished. My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore was a great find for me. Ms. Sizemore is a new to me author whose book piqued my curiosity when it showed up on my feed. I loved the idea that it is set in Las Vegas in 1958. I wasn’t sure if I would really like it and was a little worried that it may feel a bit dated, but I needn’t have worried as Ms. Sizemore delivered a captivating story, with wonderful characters that I really loved reading. The book is an ‘unexpected romance’ story, that has b
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas #1) by Lori Sizemore was a fun, light heart read with dark undertone that kept you on your toes and made for a unique cleché smashing read.

My first read by this author, I was captured by the title. That and, I have a bit of a weakness for the whole fake/business like boyfriend/girlfriend trope. I went in with a opened mind and right away I was captured by the writing. That opening set the stage for Layla homelife and the situation she faces if she's can't

wonderful throw back storyline, all the way back to the 1950's when having money meant that you were perceived a certain way and had to behave as you are perceived. But this story is more than what Layla is perceived to be. It the story of a young woman who has serious issues, is a little kooky and is a talented photographer. My Fake Las Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore is the first book in her Viva Las Vegas series. This story has everything you could possibly want – drama, chemistry, great characters. Throw in a bit of blackmail and I knew this book would be a brilliant read.

A great read about struggles. in 1958, Layla Rossa must prove to her parents that she is able to look after herself by getting a boyfriend. When she takes a photo on a rooftop of a scandalous scene, she thinks nothing of it. But when it brings Jace Russell to her door, she sees an opportunity. She offers him a deal, to pretend to be her love in exchange for the photos she took. Will he go through with the deal without falling in love or will it all go wrong?
A great read. Well developed plot with

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series and opens with a great story about Layla and Jace.

Set in the 1950's the story tells the story of Layla, she just seems unlucky in love and have had some heartache in previous relationships until her father say's that if she does not fine a decent man to settle down with he will send her to the asylum for good. Obviously she does not want that to happen but a chance comes along that she can't miss but it invol

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series by Lori Sizemore. It is a romance novel set in 1950’s Las Vegas.
Layla Rosas’ parents are trying to have her committed to an institution so she has to prove that she can live a normal life and have a normal relationship. She has a very keen interest in photography. Whilst indulging in this pastime she takes photographs that could be very damaging to the person in them.

I'm not a massive reader of historical romance, and yes, according to those lovely people at Amazon, a story set as recently as 1958 does, in fact, count as historical romance.  I know.  Shocking.

Anyhow, moving on.

The fact that this isn't set in a contemporary setting almost put me off reading this book.  But I have read and enjoyed other work from this author, so I decided to give it a go.

Now, this is not a long book, and it is set against a background that simply wouldn't fly now, but in this

This is my first book by this author and definitely won't be my last, I sincerely enjoyed the characters in this story even if Layla sometimes was a bit crazy, with all she had in her life from a seriously dysfunctional family to some pretty sketchy friends, everything about her simply made sense and her character was written perfectly.

I loved all the aspects of this story..I love a good blackmail in my reads and the interact

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore was definitely a 5 Star read for me. Layla was living in the pool house on her parents property. Her mother made her think she was crazy. Layla definitely had some issues but it was due to the unstable living environment.

Layla was caught taking pictures of a high profile person which she did as a hobby. Jace was the head of security in the hotel that was in charge of keeping things private so he must get those pictures before they made it to the news or

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend is a historical romance with a touch of suspense by Lori Sizemore and is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series. Set in the 1950’s this book tells the story of Layla, a slightly troubled girl desperate to get her father off her back but to do that he needs to look like she is in a stable relationship. I loved this book but can only give it 4 stars because I believe it needs a trigger warning for a potentially difficult subject matter. I am however a bit torn because I loved the story once I was able to push past it and I am not sure I would have chosen to read it had I been aware of this particular aspect of the story.

I was immediately intrigued by the 1950s backdrop and it really makes this story work so well. The characters are far from run of the mill stereotypes and I enjoyed the quirky d

I have to admit that I wasn’t immediately drawn into this story from page one, My Fake Vegas Boyfriend just didn’t grab my full attention at first. My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas Book 1) Lori Sizemore is an emotionally charged story and the plot was well thought out even if I did want to strangle a few people, ok mainly the parents but still. Layla has always had to deal with verbal abuse which lead to destructive traits and lack of self worth even though her character is extremely strong and fierce she is still a broken woman. I love Las Vegas so any book set there was already going to be on my list but add in a story set a while ago then I am totally there! Not quite historical but still set in a different time to what I usually read so I absolutely loved this story. The authors’ writing was great and the characters were both relatable and likeable. Layla is constantly fighting with her mother. This woman wants to put her daughter in a mental institution. Her way of escaping was to take photos. Till one day she took ones that she shouldn't have. Enter Jace Russell. He is head of security and needed those photos and the negatives. They enter into an agreement. She will give them back as long as he acts as her boyfriend. From the moment they met, sparks are flying. Layla in the long run won't settle for anything less than marriage. Jace

I can't believe what I just read. Layla is a compulsive liar. Her mother is a nasty person. Its awful how she treated Layla. I like Layla as a character. She had it bad and doesn’t know how to handle it. Jace was a interesting character. He had dreams for a place to call his own. I liked that he didn’t sugarcoat anything for Layla. He gave her his true self. The author wrote a well balanced book. The characters had room to grow and flourish. I fe
