Cara Call never expected her life to take such a dramatic turn after she fell in love with her wicked alien captor, Devix. Now, after escaping Sarkon’s grasp, they are building their lives together on the peaceful colony of Rozun.
Then, their lives change forever when Cara discovers she’s pregnant.
With a difficult and potentially dangerous pregnancy ahead, Devix takes Cara to the only place he knows they can get help: his home planet of Luxiria. The same planet he was wrongly exiled from, accused of a heinous crime he didn't commit.
But Devix will do anything to protect his fated mate…even if it means confronting the wrath of his species and the ones who betrayed him.
WICKED MATE is the direct sequel to WICKED CAPTOR and concludes Devix and Cara’s story. It features the same spirited and sassy human female and the same seven-foot-tall alien warrior with naughty fantasies and even naughtier -ahem- equipment.
Zoey Draven has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. Her love affair with the romance genre started with her grandmother's old Harlequin paperbacks and has continued ever since. As a Top 100 Amazon bestselling author, now she gets to write the happily-ever-afters—with a cosmic, otherworldly twist, of course!
When she's not writing, she's probably drinking one too many cups of coffee, hiking in the redwoods, or spending time with her family.

And now, I have officially read Zoey Draven’s backlog. What a journey it’s been.
MAIN CHARACTER NAMES Cara Call | Devix
FEATURES ∘ alien-human romance ∘ fated mates ∘ pregnancy
REVIEW That lovely false accusation plot is back in its full glory. Impossible to ignore and much harder to stomach.
Nothing really happened. There was a lot of filler and not much action. It did conclude the story told in Wicked Captor, and the overall plot of both novels was strong. It did what it set out to do.
My dislike of this book/series changes nothing. Zoey Draven is (and forever will be) one of my absolute favorite authors.

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: ☹️🥲😋😘 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Duet Narration
The heroine:Cara - she was a human chef on Earth, but had gotten somewhat bored and quit her job when she was taken captive by alien slavers. She thought all she wanted was to get home to Earth, until she was sold to an alien mercenary to be taken to some wealthy alien’s harem as his newest sex slave. On the journey there, she fell in love with the mercenary and he ended up taking her to his home on Rozun where she found that she was his fated mate.
The Hero:Devix - he was a former warrior of Luxiria, one of the most feared and brutal warriors in the galaxy, until he was banished from his home world. He had been working for an alien named Sarkin for the last six years, and his last job was to take Sarkin’s newest pleasure slave to him. Though Devix knew from the first moment that she was his fated mate. He took her to his home instead and when Sarkin came to get his property, they fought to the death with Devix coming out as the winner.
The story: Cara had opened a restaurant in the market on Rozun. Devix farmed some sweet fruit from the trees on his farm and sold them at the market on the weekends as well. So they got a small dwelling in town for those days and lived at the farm during the week. Everything was going so well for the pair, and they find out that Cara is pregnant with a hybrid baby. They find that nobody on Rozun has any experience with a hybrid pregnancy and since the Luxirian gestation is three months and human is nine, they are not even sure a human female can handle that difference. It seems they need to go to Luxiria to get help. Unfortunately since Devix was banished, he may get imprisoned or put to death for returning.
I liked the story and this was a good ending to the tale of Devix and Cara. I was glad to see that he was kind of forced to see his brother again and to make peace with his past. Like the first book, this one was somewhat steamy, apparently the two of them have very high sex drives which has to do with them being fated mates. They go at it like three times a day, though that is just mentioned in passing, every instance isn’t detailed, thankfully.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Tristan Josiah and Sierra Grace. Both of these narrators have pleasant voices, but they both speak in a way that you can tell they are reading, something about the pauses in between words makes it sound that way. Though overall they are pretty good and I have definitely heard much worse and I like both of their voices.
I truly loved how Devix and Cara's story came to a close here. I loved that Devix's story was brought full circle. Him being Vindicated, and the peace he finally was able to achieve here.
This was an awesome story.
Again please do not pick up this Warrior of Rozun mini series, until you've read the Warriors of Luxiria first.
A spinoff from the Warriors of Luxiria series, The Warrior of Rozun series was remarkably (and I mean remarkably) similar to the start of the Luxiria series. Alien hero acquires human heroine through less than morally upright means, his "Instinct" awakens with her and then they have lots o' sex. But the story points are slightly different, in that the hero has been exiled for a crime he didn't commit. Had I not binge-read the Luxiria series, it probably wouldn't have been quite as noticeable. Or maybe not.
I enjoyed it and would recommend for those who love their alien SFR, but I think I'm giving this string of books a rest for a bit.
By now if you have followed any of my reviews or the types of books I've been reading, I love me some babies, and even more the making of them babies. Lots and lots of them making....
This book did NOT disappoint in either case.
Although I think the first book ended just fine and satisfied me all good-like, I was still giddy as fuck to learn that we got this book!
You know, I was fine with Dev's exile. Really. Him and Cara were making a life for themselves on Rozun (spelling?). So when they find out Cara is with "offspring" (cringe) and had to leave I was pretty fucking terrified for them. Had me a little concerned for a second. I didn't need something happening to either and like hell did I need them seperated.
God. I just HATE when an author has two people who love eachother so deeply, rips them apart by outside sources, and then we've got this distressed herione who tries to reason with anyone to no avail, and then they have to jump through hoops to be with one another. I fucking. Hate. It. With. A. Passion. Just, NO!
OMG if this book did that it would have been an automatic 2 (maybe 3) stars. Like hell was I going through that tedious BS. It's all good though folks.
Tis all good.
So yeah. I enjoyed this immensely! Thoroughly happy with how everything came together and even more thoroughly happy that Devix got an even better happy ending!
This continuation to Devix and Cara’s love story only makes sense if you read the first book but it is an absolutely gorgeous take on a HEA and how that might not always be perfect because life happens and sometimes baggage comes back to cause problems. The premise is that when Cara finds herself pregnant, Devix insists on returning to Luxiria to seek healthcare for her pregnancy- the only problem is that as an exiled warrior, he can be executed on arrival.
I liked this story of reconciliation, I liked that warriorhood and fighting wasn’t as valorized in this and that it was okay for the hero to just want to be a peaceful farmer. I liked that this was a story of outsiders and excluded people. I loved how much Cara stood up for Devix and fought for his honour. This was a really enjoyable read for me and might be my favourite book across the entire Luxiria warriors series and spinoff.
Wicked Mate is the second book in the Warrior of Rozun duo and is a quick read with lots of steam and spice. I don't mind reading these books, alien, human, fated mates tropes, because they are sci-fi, and anything goes. It is quite a nice distraction from normal life for a few hours, especially if it is Zoey Draven. Her writing style is easy and inviting.
Re-reading this series again because apparently I didn't leave a review the first time.
Great conclusion to Devix and Cara’s story. I was pleased with how everything turned out. They have a great connection and it shone through in this book.
There is just something about these books that I completely get into. Whether it's the characters or how this author writes, I don't know, but I do know that I really want to check out the series this one spun off from.
I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one. These Luxirians are just such fine masculine specimens, and damn it, I want one. I was really happy for Devix that he finally got to talk to his brother again, and I also liked meeting Vaxa'an. Both of which were characters I liked and look forward to reading more about. There were a couple neat little surprises here, and a relatively predictable end , though that didn't ruin anything for me.
We begin with Devix and Cara enjoying their lives and freedom on Rozun. Cara has even opened her restaurant and is slowing making good impressions. Then all of a sudden she starts getting sick, and when it doesn't pass she realizes it's not food poisoning like she thought. So they go to a doctor where they find out she's pregnant. Devix had long given up dreaming of a family let alone offspring, so he's pretty overjoyed at the news. Cara is definitely happy too. Until Devix decides they need to return to Luxiria because her pregnancy could be dangerous. Devix returning home could very well mean his death because of his exiled status, but that is something he's willing to risk for the safety of his mate and his unborn child. Cara though? Not so much. She adamantly fights Devix on that until they come to an agreement about what has to happen before they even set foot on the planet.
Things definitely got interesting when they get there. Devix is treated as expected, which royally pisses Cara off and often she can't hold her tongue. The two of them perform a sacred bonding ritual which brings them closer than ever before and strengthens Cara's body. But it also causes some tension between the two of them when Devix tries to keep something from Cara and this bond lets her know. And this something is pretty big. As in, fight to the death big. But Devix has a lot more to lose than his opponent and refuses to leave Cara alone to raise their child by herself. It's a good fight. Though I was kind of urked with how it ended. Perhaps I've just become bloodthirsty or something. The end was a happy one, and one that I was quite okay with.
This is the second book in the series where we meet Devix, a well-trained Luxirian mercenary warrior who had been wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and was exiled from his home planet. Completing a final act to earn his freedom, he met his fated mate, Cara Call, and after a rough beginning, the two started their new life together on Rozun.
Cara went to the marketplace early in the morning to buy supplies for her restaurant. She was trying to do this without her mate’s help, trying to speak the Rozian language with the vendors. One frightened her since Okerwi was of the same race as the one who had captured her on Earth. But she needed to get over her fear. She asked him the price of the meat he sold and she paid him. Then to her surprise, he spoke in English that he would bring it to her restaurant for her! She was making progress into gaining acceptance here.
As Devix and Cara enjoyed a lazy morning wrapped in each other’s arms, Cara suddenly jumped up and raced to the washing hub and vomited. She blamed the meat Okerwi had sold to her. But days’ later, she was still sick. Devix took her to a healer in the capitol. She knew something was very wrong.
Instead, Fate had its way with them – with a potentially tricky pregnancy, the healer recommended taking precautions. Devix decided it would be best to return home where Luxiria could better monitor any complications. He faces a death sentence going home, but for his mate, he will risk everything. What kind of reaction will his people have toward him? Will Cara have any problems with her delivery when the time comes? How is their future going to turn out with so much going on around them?
This is such a beautiful series. Once again, the author’s skill at world-building was amazing. It brought everyday interactions to vivid life. The characters were expertly developed. Cara has so much strength and determination the reader can’t help but admire her. Devix is so devoted to her that it melts your heart. He would -- and does -- do anything for her well-being. I highly recommend this book. You will absolutely love it!
Part of what goes into my rating of a book, is how I felt after reading it. After reading this one, I felt happy and immensely satisfied. This is a continuation of Devix and Cara’s story. This book takes place about 2 months after the events in Wicked Captor. Cara finds out she’s pregnant but the healer on Rozun doesn’t know enough about humans or half breed babies to be much help. Devix is so concerned that he takes her to Luxiria where they have experienced healers that can help. The problem is that he’ll be under a death sentence if he returns.
I can’t begin to say how much I love this couple. They are the perfect example of how to write a strong female without devolving into whining and bitchiness than can ruin a character and a book. Sometimes I find a female character so unlikeable that I start hating the male lead character as well since I can’t figure out why he wants her, regardless of the pull of the mating bond. But not here. There’s a good portion of angst and tension but it’s such that I can’t put down the book, not that I want to throat punch someone. Sure Cara didn’t want Dev to fight, but she knew it had to be done. She was just hurt that he lied about it. It was also so very touching to see Devix’s reunion with his brother, Rixavox.
I really hope that this isn’t the end for Luxirian Warriors, because I can’t get enough of these guys. I do recommend that you read the Luxirian Warriors series before reading the 2 Warrior of Rozun books. While you won’t be lost if you don’t you’ll enjoy it much more if you do.
For adults only (18+ years old). Contains subject matter that may be inappropriate or sensitive for some, including adult language, detailed intimate scenes and violence.
Highly recommend that this series be read in order, as this is the second part of Devix's and Cara's story and there will be spoilers and missing background otherwise.
It took me a little bit to get immersed into this story. I am not sure why that was since it started a couple of months after the previous story. Once I did, I enjoyed the remainder. It was good to visit again with previous characters and couples. With the main Luxerian series and the subsequent SCI-FI series, there should be multiple opportunities to visit with some of them again soon.
Zoey continues to deliver an easy to read story, with some minor grammatical errors, but nothing I couldn't interpret quickly. The characters and universe are well defined.
The first book in this series, Wicked Captor, ended with Devix and Cara getting their HFN ending. In this second book, Wicked Mate, Cara discovers that she’s pregnant. Because she is human, Devix is concerned the pregnancy will be dangerous and he’s worried about Cara’s and the baby’s health and safety. Even though he was exiled for a crime he didn’t commit, Devix talks Cara into returning to his home planet of Luxiria.
I liked Devix’s brother Rixavox in his own book (The Alien’s Touch), and I was glad that he and Cecelia were in this one so much. It meant a lot to Devix that his brother never once questioned his innocence and made it clear how happy he was to be reunited with Devix. Cecelia was a good friend for Cara and I liked how close they became. I also liked seeing Vaxa'an again and him proving what a fair and good leader he is.
These books are sci-fi romances that are easy to read, a great escape and have happy endings.
What a fun and satisfying conclusion to Devix and Cara’s story! Just what was needed to draw their story to a close. Devix continues to be the wonderfully powerful, protective and romantic guy that he is and Cara still is feisty and driven! And the two of them together is perfect!
With their return to Luxiria, we watch as Devix is reunited with his brother, Rixavox, and their Prime Minister, Vaxa’an (who both, by the way, have their own great stories!) who exiled him for a crime he didn’t commit.
Without giving the story away, there is drama, passion and sweetness! You will NOT be disappointed in the conclusion of Devix and Cara’s story!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
This is the continuation from book 1 about Devix and Cara. Like Zoey’s other series, these characters are strong, serious and very sexy. Cara, our strong human female, is now living with her captor Devix whom she loves. Devix has been exiled from his home planet of Luxiria, accused for a crime he did not commit. When our couple finds that Cara is pregnant and that there might be complications because of the mixed species, they decide to travel to Luxiria where doctors have experience with this. This puts Devix in mortal danger.
The story is action packed and sexy as always. From the landscape of two worlds and the characters within, this book is great. I didn't put it down until I finished it in one day.
Definitely would have rated this higher if it had just been attached to the first book. They're both so short (barely 200 pages for #1, not even 200 pages for #2) that they are really one book, rather than a book and a sequel.
That all being said, I needed this wrap up with the HEA solidified. Dev has found his inner peace and his exoneration, and Cara has found a purpose in creating this world's first restaurant.
I do have to say, though, I hope there's lube on this planet, because THREE times a day every day? Lort, I can't even imagine. The yeast infection and UTIs alone...
I KID! I KID! Love this world. Love this series. Totally enamored of this author and her incredibly creative mind.
It's the stuff that dreams are made of, written down on the air. It's passed from story teller to the hearts and minds of readers. It tells of love supported by a warrior's courage and vulnerabilities, and we haven't even got to the guy yet. 😉 He is most women's dream, tough and tender. He steadfast but flexible in working around life's little road blocks, but most of all he loves his woman no matter how out of sorts she gets. She takes his manly missteps in stride simply because she loves him so darn much. Isn't it wonderful that he has the same safety net built into him. Enjoy this story.
A solid story continuation. Sometimes when you finish a story, you don't get the whole thing. When I read Cara and Devix story, I loved it, it was exciting and cool and ended nicely. But like in real life, more stuff happens as you keep going, and there was more to resolve in their story. I loved the suspense of this book, not knowing if Devix would be killed or imprisoned, if Cara would survive her pregnancy, or that kind of evilness awaited them on Luxiva. This book continued the steamy relationship between Dev and Cara, and still had an edginess because of the reception on his home planet. I loved this story, I'm a new fan of this author, and so glad that I found her!
I'm new to this amazing author and her books are so well written I couldn't get enough of the series, The plot was well worth the read. Wow! The characters were a favorite, they blended so well with each other, their journey was quite rocky at first until Devix discovered his true mate meant for anther through fight with exchange money. He couldn't very well handed her over his disgusting boss. Well, love and sex conquers all with Devix being finally vindicated but his people for a rape crime he didn't commmit. I loved both books and wish for more.
Devix and Cara have already been through so much, separately. He being wrongfully convicted and exiled for a crime he didn't commit and she, being kidnapped, beaten and imprisoned on an alien planet. Now, in book 2 of the series, they are finally beginning the life of peace together they both crave, when an unexpected surprise has them reeling. Will the news tear apart their happy lives or will the Fates bless them and keep them safe? The outcome will be hard fought, but won well. Great story!
This book continues Cara and Devrix's story. I don't want to give anything away because I truly want you to discover it for yourself. However, what Devix thought was impossible for Cara was possible. So then they worry about her safety, causing a return to Devix's home world. Since he was exiled, this creates its own set of unique problems. He faces his past as he looks forward to his future with Cara. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.
Thanks for keeping the quality of your writing up, equal to the Warriors of Luxurian and the first Warrior of Rozun. I have now finished both of these series and I've enjoyed your imaginative writing. There was just enough action, romance, eroticism, suspense, and believability in these books that I stayed immersed in your writing. I have been quick to drop authors that don't grab my attention enough. I will check out some of your other offerings. Keep up the good work! Recommended, readers! Enjoy!
This is one of the best series I’ve read. I loved the different stories and all the MC brought something very different to each book. It concluded at just the right time too, unlike some authors who drag a series out and 14 books later ur revisiting the same stories just with different names to the MC. If you love an over protective alpha male who love their mates with all they are and u like a strong female lead this is the series for you. I would advise that you read them in order as old characters often pop up😁Happy reading.
