WELCOME TO NEW YORK is a clean romance novel for young adults that captures the essence of "true love" in a compelling as well as an engaging way that stays continuously heartfelt throughout the duration of the story.

Due to the high average rating, I went into WELCOME TO NEW YORK with high expectations. It is more than safe to say that my expectations were gladly met and exceeded in some

Despite the two stars, this isn’t a bad book. It’s a sweet and cute book about kindness and love. But it’s just so. unbelievably. long. So long that if you were to skip from 50% to the very end, you would’ve missed practically nothing. Even the epilogue is the longest one I’ve seen. The characters are likable, it’s just that absolutely nothing happens in this book. This book is the characters’ living their lives, but there is no drama, there are no important event happening and I just don’t unde ...more

If your favoured reading material is a compelling tale with a good sprinkling of relationships, imperfection, love, misunderstandings and humour then Welcome to New York by Luana Ferraz is a must-read for you!

From the get-go there was so much happening in this wonderful tale of love and romance! The story was told from two different perspectives: those of Alana Pylman and Harry Crawley.

Harry has arrived in The Big Apple from England, his plans awry and his life somewhat shambolic. Alana is from

There are some books that unexpectedly just touch your very soul, you walk away from the experience changed just from having read said book. This book reached right on into my chest and tugged on my heart. There were so many sweet, beautiful, heartfelt, and inspiring moments sprinkled throughout this book. It was such a wonderful surprise to be swept away by the completely ordinary and yet extraordinary lives of Alana and Harry. To watch them learn to trust. Fall in love. Follow their dreams. Welcome to New York by Luana Ferraz is a clean romance that follows two characters who have left their homes in other cities in order to find themselves – even if it means running away from their troubles – in New York. Harry has arrived from England with his plans is shambles and Alana has moved in from a flyover state in order to make her way on the theatrical road to Broadway. Both arrive with plenty of baggage, although not so much in the traditional sense in that its almost entirely emotion ...more

Romance books is my thing, I have read so many of them. I can read the same old trope over and over again.

Two strangers met in a cafe where they worked together. Both of them had secrets and were wounded. They helped each other and achieved what they dreamt of.

The book had a good storyline but the author didn't write it very well. English wasn't her first language so she couldn't make the diaglous witty or funny enough. The book was kind of long and many parts were not necessary.

A cute clean romance. One that gives you a good strong story. One that you get to watch as the characters grow and there’s depth to the story.

Alana and Harry meet at the coffee shop they both work at. It’s a rocky start but once Alana can break down one of Harry’s walls their relationship blooms. We watch as these two make it work as they both grow and both go after their dreams.

This book has great characters, great side characters and such a good wholesome story.

Highly recommended.

If this book was not at least a little *a teensy tiny* bit inspired by the movie La La Land, then I am extremely surprised by their similarities! Almost throughout the whole book I found myself low-key fangirling like I had when I first watched La La Land.I absolutely loved Welcome to New York!

The cover was the first thing to hook me– it’s nostalgic, original, and when I look at it after reading the book, I think I love it even more because of how significant each of those buildings are to the s

What a wonderful adventure through New York, Oklahoma, London and Oxford. Both Harry and Alana are wonderful characters, both troubled by their pasts yet find themselves drawn to each other, revealing more and more about themselves as they get closer and closer. Just when you think the mystery has been solved, something else is revealed to keep you reading.

Yet this story never seems to be drawn out or over padded. The pace was just right, the surprises just with the right amount of credibility,

First of all, I loved the premise of this book. Two people who came to New York to pursue their dreams, is exactly what most people picture New York to be, a city that can make your dreams come true! I enjoyed the pacing of the book and how the relationship between the two characters was built over a long period of time. It just make it more believable and realistic when they finally became a couple. I loved how

The cover is really attractive and eye-catching. Bright and colourful, filled with happy vibes, forcing the attention towards itself. After reading the book I loved the cover even more because of it's significance to the story.
The story takes place in a coffee shop, Green bean. Alana and Harry are the protagonists of the story. Both of their personalities are similar in several ways. They are both introverts, and both of them have dreams with no hopes of achieving them.

I honestly didn’t think I would like it this much. I went into it without any expectations I think that’s why I liked it even more.

This is a very beautiful book that made me put on hold all of the other books that I was currently reading. That’s how good it was.

I read this book because it was given to me as an ARC, which means it was free. However, I’m planing to get a physical copy because I enjoyed way too much and I would probably reread this again and I just need it to be part of my bookshe

Lovely long satisfying read!

I really enjoyed this long satisfying story! Harry's adoration of a baby girl he never fathered, while encouraging her biological father's relationship with her was heartwarming, especially since he never knew his own biological father and was hated and rejected by his "father" when growing up.
What he didn't know and found out late, was that his mother had been unfaithful to his very conservative dad before giving him four more sons. The realisation of why his father

Not Your Regular Contemporary Romance...Slow Build, Sweet

This is not quite your normal contemporary romance. It is slow and sweet. There's no big meet-cute. The hero and heroine just work at the same place It even takes awhile for Harry and Alana to become friends, let alone lovers. They both have pasts that they don't want anyone to know about. They are both scarred by their pasts but learn to trust and love again. They both have dreams for careers, but are held back by confidence and opportuni

It's like reading a Gilmore Girls story! Do you know that feeling you have when finishing a book or a film where you think "OMG, despite everything, the world is a beautifull place!"? That's what I felt when finishing Welcome To New York, in fact, that was the feeling the whole time. Loving characters, great writing, I couldn't stop reading. I can't imagine someone not liking that story. ...more

its surprisingly hard to stop reading once u start. the author excels at knitting a very unordinary story out of ordinary characters. A british boy in love with a country girl, could anything be more sweet? and then there is the secret weapon. I lost my heart to this story at the first blow

Welcome to New York was a refreshing change from angst-filled and action-packed novels. It is on the longer side which helps the readers develop a better understanding of the characters.

Harry and Alana have scars from their past that led them to leave their homes and come to New York for a fresh start. When they meet each other for the first time, they connect and as time passes they grow closer because they start to recognize that maybe they are not that different from each other. They start t

I enjoyed this book, the writing style is easy to follow and the characters warm and interesting.
Harry and Alana meet each other at work and become friends. Both have secret lives outside of the coffee shop where they work and are both quite guarded. As the book progresses they become more involved in each other's lives and finally share their secrets with each other. It is a slow burn,

Ferraz's Welcome to New York has its heart in the right place, with the main protagonists, Alana and Harry, learning to love each other, and most importantly, themselves.

While I was reading the novel, I felt that it became too long and dragging. The novel could have been more streamlined, as I felt the latter part could have been a different storyline altogether. The reveals were a bit underwhelming, mostly because there were too many things/conflicts happening in the novel, so there were a lot

When I first started reading Welcome to New York, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. It starts about Harry starting what he hopes is a stable job. I’m more used to reading about strong women in the main character role. But it was interesting enough for me to keep reading and I’m so glad I did! This has ended up being one of my favorite books. One of Harry’s co-workers is Alana. Alana becomes one of the main characters also. The storyline is both interesting and intriguing. The characters a ...more

I rounded up from 3.5 to 4 stars.
Welcome to New York is a fun, clean romance about two people seeking to make a fresh start for themselves in a new city.

I enjoyed reading the story(ies) of Alana and Harry. Each of them were very likeable and relatable. The buildup to the reveal of their back stories was just long enough to build some suspense without leaving you hanging so long that you felt like you were missing something until their "secret" was revealed.

I did feel like the book itself was
This book was clearly written by someone whose first language is not American English. There were so many odd expressions, wrong words, and so forth, that it was quite distracting. Also, for someone like me who is familiar with New York City, a lot of the book didn't make much sense. Example: how can someone who works as a waitress in a small coffee shop afford a multi-bedroom apartment, even in a walk-up with small rooms, in Manhattan, and then be able to afford airfare to Oklahoma and England? ...more

Welcome to New York is a heartwarming love story without the typical angst as is quite common with romances. It is a story of second chances. A kind that grows on you. I always prefer reading books with third-person narration, which is almost a rarity these days. The book was a welcome change.

Harry and Alana's characters have been fleshed out well. I also liked the supporting characters each with their own quirks. I enjoyed reading but did find the book a bit too long and drawn out. That affecte

I’m usually not a huge fan of romance but this story was beautiful. A story of the resilience of two people who experienced different hardships. I love when couples are able to support each other’s growth. Despite going through death, relationship drama, family issues etc, Harry and Alana remained supportive of one another.

One of my favorite things was that the author made the characters acknowledge their faults. They didn’t get to say sorry and move on. By knowing exactly what you did and how y

I loved this charming title. Falling in love with the characters as they became a family, with all of its intricate, messy details was a joy to read. I especially loved how the details were given out in a natural, easy to read way that matched the characters. I would certainly read more about them all!
