Blythe Coopman never imagined she’d be homeless, but a series of events has landed her on San Antonio’s streets…hungry, tired, and scared. She clings to her most precious possession, a phone accidentally swiped from a local firefighter, who, instead of canceling the number, starts texting her. Soon, the man’s calls and texts are the highlight of her days, but she declines ...more

Too sweet for my taste. Hero, his friends and their GFs are unbelieving good in the book.

This is the book we've been waiting awhile for. It was really hard not to feel sorry for Blythe and to want to help her. I loved that Squirrel was able to do just that. I liked that it started with that phone and how he didn't cut it off, but instead used it as a way to communicate with her. Then when the chance arrived he too advantage and did what he could to start to give Blythe a new chance.

Sophie's old house seems to have morphed into a sort of homeless halfway house, a very good thing. In

When we are at our lowest we show how truly strong we are. At least that is the case with Blythe Coopman. Though circumstances have left her homeless Blythe hasn’t given up and still has compassion for others. A chance meeting with a hot bespeckled fireman has given her something to cling to. When Blythe is attacked Sawyer and friends say no more and get her off the streets and into Sophia’s home. Between Sawyer’s self-esteem issues and Blythe’s past I wanted to slap them each upside their heads ...more

I listened to the Audiobook because I couldn’t wait for this book to release! This is such an amazingly uplifting story! I had a feeling this was going to be a favorite of mine having met Blythe in an earlier book. Susan is such a fantastic storyteller and Blythe and Sawyer (Squirrel) are wonderful characters. There was no way to not fall in love with Sawyer. It’s very rare to find a hero who has self esteem issues and this made him all the more lovable and real. Add to that the fact that he is ...more

Another brilliant all-feels story from Susan Stoker.

I love an emotional read and Shelter for Blythe hit so many emotions, you just can not read it without being effected in some way, it tugs at your heartstrings, makes you cry, makes you angry and makes you want a guy like Squirrel in your life.

What I loved most about this story was the way Blythe and Sawyer bolstered each other when they needed it, they were very much in sync from the beginning, I also LOVE Sawyers family lol talk about you tak

Waiting months and months for this story, and it was worth the wait. Then again, any story written by Susan Stoker usually is. Read this book in two sittings, meaning I was invested, intrigued and engaged from start to finish.

I loved Sawyer and Blythe together. Once again Ms. Stoker created less than perfect characters, with fears, and hang ups that makes it easy to relate with. In this case, a homeless woman and a firefighter. This is not about a hero complex that leads into romance, no. It's a

All. The. Feels.

Not that I expected any less, I really didn’t, but Blythe and Sawyer seemed to make my heart swoon and break so many times throughout this book that I lost count, and that doesn’t even take into account the rest of the BoHTH crew and how they all rally in this one. This book was pretty much everything.

I adored both Blythe and Sawyer aka Squirrel. Blythe is strong, intelligent and despite all that she has gone through still has a heart of gold. After finding out all

Shelter for Blythe is book 11 in the series but its a stand alone. However, we meet Blythe in Sophie's book. Blythe was homeless and living on the street near Sophie's place of employment. Blythe also plays a role in Milena's book; in a way, Blythe is helping the villain of Milena's book. Now, however, Blythe needs help. She is attacked on the streets. Squirrel, aka Sawyer, gave Blythe his phone months ago and they begin a few text conversations. This leads to a budding friendship that changes

5 Heartfelt, Heart-Warming Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

When Blythe finds herself in the ER, Sawyer swears to help her, and he won’t take no for an answer. Just when Blythe thought her past was long behind her, it reappears with a vengeance.

I’d been looking forward to Blythe and Sawyer’s story. Both their characters had intrigued me in the other books in the Badge of Honor’s series, and Susan Stoker did not disappoint. I love that both these characters were drawn t

Great read!

As with every book in this series it is a hit. Love the characters and how they work together and overcome great obstacles. No matter what comes our way in life we all suffer loss and hardship how we work the problem and let it shape us is the real story. Love it and would greatly recommend it

Susan Stoker is a fabulous author and I have yet to read a book by her that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are always likeable and relatable and the storyline is always plausible and one you could easily see playing out for yourself or someone you know in everyday circumstances. I like the fact that there is no tearing down or tearing apart of the characters and basic story. Yes, the characters always have situations or circumstances to overcome either emotionally, physically, and ...more

Yay! We finally get Blythe’s story and get a deeper look at Squirrel. Blythe has been one of those characters that drifted in and out of the other books in this series. A homeless woman who didn’t seem like she should be on the streets. During a call, Squirrel lent her his sweatshirt and then disappeared. Not only with the sweatshirt but with his cellphone as well. This one event would change their lives forever. Through this phone, they would build a relationship that would turn into something ...more

I had been looking forward to reading Blythe’s story ever since we get a glimpse of her in Shelter for Sophie. There were so many questions surrounding her so it was great that I was able to finally read her story. And what a heart-breaking story it was. This book showed the strength and love that Blythe was capable of. I could not imagine enduring what she had to for the past year being homeless. The only beacon of light she had was the cell phone that was in the sweatshirt that Sawyer “Squirre ...more

I was intrigued by Blythe's character when I read Justice for Milena. In that particular book given the high stake circumstances surrounding Milena's character, it was hard to be sure if Blythe was good or bad. She had to make a tough decision based on her own circumstances which ultimately affected Milena and resulted in her kidnapping, but what you find out is that Blythe made that decision not because she is a bad person, but she is just as much a victim as Milena was at that time. She has a ...more

I loved this story! Squirrel as he is known to his friends has been talking to Blythe since he lent her his sweatshirt at a fire and she disappeared with it and his cel phone which was in the pocket.

Blythe is down on her luck and doesn't belong on the streets. She is an amazing character and she puts other above herself. She is shy at first but as we get to know her she had a core of strength just like the other women Squirrel co-workers are paired off with. She never gives up or complains about

Shelter for Blythe

This was an amazing sad, hopeful romance with Blythe being saving by fire fighter emt, Sawyer. They met at a fire he was fighting and he gave her a sweatshirt because she was cold and inadvertently left his cellphone in the pocket. He decided to text her and let her use the phone since she was homeless and told her where she could charge it. This is how their love story began as they started texting back and forth and got to know each other. She was homeless since she had to qu

I became quite fascinated with the enigmatic character of Blythe when she first appeared in Shelter for Sophie, and then in Justice for Milena, and was eager to discover her story.

Shelter for Blythe is an emotional story of hope, survival, strength and love. It’s a friends to lovers romance, that is quite unique and unconventional in the fact that the heroine is homeless.

Both these characters tugged at my heart, Squirrel so down on himself for not being as buff or tall as his colleagues and mates. Blyth because being homeless wasn't her fault and the fear for safety being on said streets. This is hard subject matter in places but an incredibly moving story as well, the characters are well suited to each other and the friends rally to help them both. Trust is an issue even if you haven't been through anything like these two have, so it would be understandable esp ...more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST BADGE OF HONOR STORY AS OF YET! Oh my wonderful goodness, how I FLOVED Shelter For Blythe!

Squirrel may think he isn't the normal woman's fantasy but let me tell you, he is EVERY woman's fantasy. What he thinks is average or below average I think is something special and amazing. He was probably one of the most admirable hero so far. I thought he was VERY hot. He was incredibly alpha and wonderfully caring and is just had a beautiful soul. He m

Shelter for Blythe is Squirrel AKA Sawyer and Blythe's story within the Badge of Honor series. I have to say that I've been waiting for this book but not as long as Moose and Penelope's.

Blythe Coopman has been homeless after her mother lost her battle with cancer and she was evicted but when she stands up for a couple being robbed she ends up being stabbed by Dog and Tweek. When Squirrel finds out he rushes to the hospital. Sophie offers her home to Blythe to recover in and from there he does w

Another hit by Susan Stoker
“Shelter for Blythe” is Susan Stoker’s latest installment in her “Badge of Honor” series. These books revolve around firefighters and police officers in San Antonio, TX. As with many of her other books that deal with today's issues, especially in this series, Ms Stoker has brought to light a difficult, but unfortunately an all-too-common, scenario – homelessness brought about by the loss of a job and crushing medical debt. Blythe Coopman has spent over a year on the st

This book follows Blythe Coopman, who after unfortunate circumstances finds herself on the streets and Sawyer "squirrel" McClay, who is one of the firefighters we've come to love. Shelter for Blythe by Susan Stoker is a 5 star read.
This is book 11 in the badge of honor series and just as well written as the rest of them.
Sawyer “Squirrel” McClay is a paramedic and firefighter, he believes himself to be average looking and nothing like what most people expect firefighters to be like. At a call to a huge fire that his co-worker’s girlfriend was trapped in, Squirrel gave his sweater to a homeless woman to help keep her warm, after she disappeared taking the sweater and his

So Susan Stoker has done something not many authors have done...she has appealed to my fantasies of the Nerdy Alpha Male. Not mentioned often in the “wild” he isn’t so big and buff, often on the skinny side, with glasses and has a brain that can run circles around any bad guy. Under that smart and sexy exterior (though don’t ask him because he doesn’t see himself as sexy) is a protective, sweet and loving alpha willing to do whatever it takes to protect his woman and make he

A stellar read

Another stellar read from Susan Stoker, this time focussing on firefighter Sawyer ‘Squirrel’ McClay and Blythe Coopman.

Blythe has been living homeless, following a downward spiral in her life that she just couldn’t get out of. After a fire in an abandoned building (in Shelter for Sophie) she first meets Squirrel, who gives her his sweatshirt to keep warm. Hours later, she discovers his phone in the pocket of the sweatshirt.

Rather than cancel the phone, Squirrel allows her to keep i

We got our first glimpse of Blythe in Shelter for Sophie. Elusive and mysterious, she hides away from any kind of help. Her one valuable possession, a phone. She found it in the sweatshirt Squirrel 'Sawyer' gave her to wear the night of the fire. The one that demolished the building she was staying in with Louise and Todd. However, before they could get her to go with that couple, she vanished and Squirrel did the most unpredictable thing in her mind, he didn't cancel the phone, he started texti ...more

A Review of Shelter For Blythe: Badge of Honor Texas Heroes, Book 11 by Susan Stoker

Blythe and Sawyer - 5 Stars

I absolutely LOVE the writing by this author. She has a way of drawing you into the story so fully that you feel like you are right there, part of the action. Her descriptions are so succinct that I can actually picture what she is talking about. Having worked at a local shelter as part of a church group for many years, I know how hard it is for those that are homeless. Granted, I only
