Conor travels from his small town to Hollywood and back again as he tries to find love, find fame, and find his voice. Read the first three books in this coming of age M/M romance series today!

Book 1: Life in a Nowhere Town

The hit reality show, Singing Sensation, promises to make its winners big stars - but all Conor Gillis wants is to get out of his small town. It's not the sort of place where a quiet, eighteen-year-old who loves the Beatles and playing guitar can expect to fit in.

Conor's also pretty sure he's the only gay person in town.

Well, except for one other person...

Derek Folsom is the kind of bad influence parents warn about. He's tough, rough, and always looking for a fight. He's the last person anyone would suspect of being gay, in fact he's likely to punch anyone who does suspect it. So why is he suddenly so interested in Conor?

Conor's pinning all his hopes on auditioning for a TV show. It's his only chance to realize his dreams, and escape all of these confusing feelings. But will he be able to find his voice... and his true self?

Book 2: California Schemin'

Conor's made it to Los Angeles to compete on the reality show, Singing Sensation, and is suddenly plunged into a whole new world. There's a houseful of people, all with the same dream of making it big in the music world and willing to do whatever it takes to win. Conor has to deal with the pressures of live performances, catty competitors, sour judges, a nearly naked roommate... and the attentions of a sexy, older rock star - all with cameras watching his every move. Conor's always been big on secrets. And the biggest secret of all - his relationship with Derek, the bad boy back home - may be the hardest one to keep.

Conor has to decide if he's in LA to win or to run away.

Book 3: The Man Who Told the World

After months of high stakes competition, backstage drama, and secret romances, a winner is going to be chosen for the Singing Sensation TV show. Recording contracts, fame, money - Conor's whole future hangs in the balance. But how much of himself is he willing to give up in order to win?

Win or lose, Conor's going home. His family, friends, school - and Derek, the bad boy next door - are waiting for him. But the things, and the people, he left behind in his small town haven't exactly stayed the same. Neither has Conor. He's not the same person who left, and Derek's not the same person who told him to go. They might even have a future, but only if Conor can save Derek from his past.

Life In A Nowhere Town
Conor lives a small life, after his mother's death he and his father and sister are barely getting by (can I just say I find it difficult to wrap my head around the fact that a family can be bankrupted by medical bills when in the UK medical treatment is free), he only has two friends at school and he has no idea what to do with his life when he leaves. Life in a small town can be inhibiting, especially if you are a young gay man.

Then Conor gets a chance to audition for the hit reality show Singing Sensation.

While Conor waits to see if he has made the cut he starts a very unusual relationship with the high school bully - what's that all about?

This short novella gave me all the feels, reminding me of how lonely you can feel as a teenager, how bleak your choices can feel and how people aren't always what they seem.

California Schemin'
Our young hero has made it to California and the reality TV show Singing Sensation. Feeling like a minnow in a sea of sharks Conor is a bit lost. He's not worldly wise, unlike some of his fellow contestants and he's caught the eye of one of the judges.

Can Conor sort out the users and the fakers?

I loved this book so much, very different from the novella that started this series but Conor managed to be both naïve and naturally astute. So often I thought I knew where the plot was taking Conor and yet Hanna Dare deftly confounded my expectations.

The Man Who Told The World
So, this book starts with Conor in the final top ten contestants in the reality tv talent show Singing Sensation, his issues with kai have been put behind him and he is developing a relationship with Jesse.

I don't want to spoil anything about the show, suffice it to say that soon the show ends and Conor is abruptly thrust back into life in a small town and returns to high school, the same faces and the same dramas. Although this time his two best friends aren't speaking to him, or each other, and Derek Folsom is in jail.

Can I just say that I love this series and I am very glad with the way it turned out. Over the trilogy I have seen Conor develop into a more confident young man, someone who finds himself worthy and I am happy that he has found his true love.

Enough said, if you love a tender love story then this is the one for you.

What an excellent surprising series! Being in my mid 30’s I don’t generally read new adult books but I absolutely loved this and loved Hanna Dare’s writing. It didn’t feel young at all, despite the characters being 18 and in high school to start. It was amazing! I’m so glad I gave this a try after reading the Machine Metal Magic series which I also loved. I’m surprised this author doesn’t have more popularity her writing is excellent. I was completely taken by her characters, they felt so very real and I stayed up late in the night read through this box set which really reads as one novel. Book 5 is absolute treat too to get Derek’s point of view and I hugely recommend it to finish of this series. The themes in this were beautifully written and I have to say the sex scenes were really well done and far more mature than I expected in a NA book. I highly recommend this to all readers who enjoy M/M romance.

I’d love to read more about these guys or more from this world featuring these two.

I found this trio of young adult stories to be engaging, unapologetic, realistic, and well-researched. This journey of a small-town boy who has aspirations far outside his limited upbringing was heartwarming and angst-filled (OF course, it was! They're teenagers!! LOL) with the story centered around an "American Idol"-style singing contest from beginning to end and beyond (including the behind-the-scenes activities/cutthroat attitudes/"reality-show" aspects). The characters' personalities were engrossing and complicated which made for great storytelling. I loved the real-life music references which added to the authentic quality of the story. The stories were well-written but could have used a better proofreader as there were many ommissions of small words like at, to, the, and, etc. scattered throughout the books. But, overall, I thought this series was well worth reading!

Enjoyable read

I grabbed this box set because I really enjoyed Hanna's Mind+Machine series. let me start by saying that I normally don't read high school/college age books and this took me by surprise.

Cute story with lovable characters that kept me engaged the entire time. Connor won my heart over with his banter and ackwardness. All of the goings on behind the scenes of the reality show kept me turning pages. Enjoyable read.
